Chapter 2 - Choices

Chapter 2: Choices

Victor Calinte

I never told anyone about my ability to send Denora Air notes. Since no one else has been able to contact her, I decided it was only fair I kept it a secret. I wasn't ruled out from the Royal family's suspect list. What broke me the most was the audacity of the Alpha to even suggest that I had something to do with my mate's Disappearance. These years of her absence in my life has brought nothing but pain and darkness. Where did you go Denora? Why can't I find you? I sense that she is still alive. Her energy feels very strong when I search for her, yet she seems so far away. I took a long stare at the air note I was about to send to her one last time. I never planned to tell her about my marriage to another. The worst part was the fact that I didn't want any of this. But my family customs disagree. My mother is also putting a lot of pressure on me. She says I can't keep waiting for someone who may never find her way back. Esmien is a kingdom for all diverse beings. In Esmien, there are 3 cities. Selvinor is where I come from and it is a home for multiple beings of different kinds. Zen Is the city for werewolves. Belana is for the Magical people, and enchanted animals. The Royal family where Denora belongs, is the head of all the cities in Esmien. Tomorrow at Sunrise, I will wed Thalia Orion of Belana. A noble lady from the family of magic summoners. Thalia is gorgeous, but my heart belongs to Denora. I wrote my feelings down in the air note, expressing what would occur tomorrow. If I end up getting married to Thalia, I can never leave her till one of us die. These are marriage vows. The people and customs of Esmien take it very seriously. Coming to the end of my air note, I sealed it with a flame and transported it to a specific direction in the wind. This is the path where I sense Denora's energy the strongest. It will keep travelling in the wind till it finds her. A feeling of nostalgia began to grow in me. I stood up from my bedside table and approached the hidden drawers of my wardrobe. I kept this from the naked eye because I didn't want anyone going through my things. Pictures of Denora and I came into view as I opened the drawer. We had so much fun that day, it was taken the week she disappeared. Tomorrow would make it exactly 6 years since it occurred. The scenery was Her multicolored hair of ginger with a mix of pink, blue and violet spread out on the grass as she laid on it, my hands were placed on her waist as I stared into her golden eyes. Her smile is so bright and beautiful, it made her eyes twinkle. Pictures in Esmien are taken by the stars. The moon signals them to capture beautiful moments that are visible to them. Shortly after, the person receives the picture in their home. She was dressed in a green dress with various beads and magic stones on it. Her arms were around my neck as we both laid sideways on the grass. I was wearing a white long sleeve shirt and black trousers. A sudden wave of energy filled my room. Thalia had transported herself in, unannounced. This wasn't her first time of doing something like this. I've warned her to always ask for permission but she doesn't listen. I wasn't fully dressed. I was shirtless with nothing but black shorts. I hid the picture behind me as I watched her walk closer to me.

"Thalia, why are you here at such a time at night. Do you need anything?" I said to her, curious to why she transported herself into my room. She was dressed in a short wine-colored dress, and her boobs were perking out from the cleavage since she was very busty. Her nipples were hard and pointing out of her dress, because she didn't have any underwear to cover it up. Her black fluffy hair was loose and bouncing all over her shoulders, and her darkskin looked so shiny. More shiny than usual. She took steps that brought her closer to me, and I could perceive an aroma of honey and fresh dandelions. That must be the scent of the oil she applied on her body. Her dark eyes roamed my naked abs and toned muscles, till they met with mine.

"I couldn't sleep my love. I'm so anxious about the wedding tomorrow so I decided to come and spend the night with you." Thalia replied, placing her hands on my chest and finally settling them round my neck. I could read her feelings. She was definitely horny and wanted sex. My nose couldn't resist the smell of her blood as well. The scent made me weak. I'd been resisting my desires to stall and wait for Denora. I've tried all these years to stay away from women. But the constant passes they make towards me did not make that task as easy as I thought it would be. If Denora doesn't come back then Thalia will be my wife. I delayed the wedding for two years. They didn't let me delay it anymore. Maybe I should warm up to Thalia to help me ease the pain I felt for loosing Denora.

"Why are you up?" She asked me, pressing herself on my bare chest in slow motion. My desire for her only grew stronger.

"I couldn't sleep either." I said, using my free hand to grab her waist. She brought the tip of her tongue out, and licked her lower lip in a teasing manner, while maintaining our eye contact. She started to plant kisses on my neck as her right hand moved to my growing erection. A part of me wanted to protest and stop her, while the other part is enjoying every bit of this, curious to see where it would lead.

"I need you to touch me Victor, don't say no." Thalia commanded as she continued to leave kisses on my neck and massage me. Without thinking too much about my actions, I leaned in and kissed her hungrily. I heard a soft moan escape her lips as she kissed me back. My free hand left her waist and made its way to her breasts. I found her nipples and released them from the covering of her dress.

Thalia pushed us slowly towards my bed area and we fell on it. I used the opportunity to hide the picture of Denora in my other hand beneath me while we continued to kiss. This was not how I expected my night to turn out. I reached for her breasts and fondled them in my hands. I moved my lips to her left nipple and used my other hand to play with the other. She moaned again. A little louder than the first time. I guided her head while directing her back to kiss me. My nose took in her scent a little more. The temptation to bite and feed on her blood was becoming stronger and I haven't fed in days. The plan was to go and feed later on in the day before the wedding. But Thalia's presence here has changed everything. I got up and turned her over, positioning myself on top of her this time. I was about to continue kissing her when she suddenly stopped me. The seductive look on her face had turned into a frown. She found the picture of Denora and I on the bed.

Oh goddess. I completely forgot about that. She pushed me off her and I didn't fight her.

"Why do you still have a picture of yourself with Denora?" She asked me pointing the picture in the air as she used her free hand to cover her exposed chest. She got up from the bed and wore her dress back. I didn't know what else to say to her. She already knew Denora is my childhood sweetheart and actual mate.

"I kept it, Thalia. That's why I still have it." I replied, taking the picture from her hand.

"Are you still in love with her Victor? Tell me." Her eyes began to tear up. I could sense a feeling of disappointment and fear in her mind. She wasn't sure what my answer would be.

"Thalia please, you know that it's complicated."

"Complicated? In a few hours we are to wed and you have feelings for another woman who is probably dead and—

"She's not dead!" I yelled a little cutting her off from whatever else she had to say. She was dressed fully now, and heading for the door. I knew she was feeling upset but she had no proof that Denora was dead. She turned to look at me as she spoke.

"Make a choice Victor. If it's her you choose, then don't bother meeting me at the altar. And if it's me? Then I can't wait to have you. What was I even thinking when I agreed to this marriage?"

And she walked out of the room. Thalia was right. I had to make a choice. Would I choose to marry her and forget about Denora for good, or call the wedding off and choose Denora despite her absence? This choice was not so easy to make. But somehow how, by the goddess, I was bound to find a way.
