Chapter 53 - Chapter Fifty-Three: Trial by Goal

EXT. ORION CITY HIGH – FOOTBALL FIELD – DAY

The stands were filled with students, teachers, and even parents. Banners waved in the wind as chants echoed:

STUDENTS"Orion! Orion! Orion!"

The rangers sat together near the edge of the field — except for Jett, who stood proudly with his teammates in full uniform.

DAIKI(cheering loudly)Go, Jett! Don't embarrass us!

KAEL(folding arms, muttering)He better not.

KICK-OFF — TRIAL MATCH

The referee blew the whistle. The opposing team charged forward — quick, aggressive, and determined.

But Jett… he danced across the field. His unpredictable style threw off defenders. One moment, he was dribbling smoothly, the next, pulling flashy tricks.

RAYNA(impressed)He actually has tactics. Who knew?

ZAYN(analyzing angles from the stands)It's less tactics and more chaos. But somehow… effective.

MONTAGE – TRIAL MATCH HIGHLIGHTS

Jett nutmegs an opponent, winking at the cheering crowd.

Daiki nearly falls off the bleachers screaming every time Jett touches the ball.

Lyra claps and shouts, "Pass, pass!" as if Jett can hear her.

Kael keeps grumbling every time Jett smiles at the crowd.

The whole school is roaring with energy, banners flying.

FINAL PLAY

The score is tied. Time is running out. Jett takes the ball near midfield.

He looks up — defenders rushing him, the goal far away.

JETT(smirking to himself)Guess it's time to finish in style.

He zig-zags through two players, spins past another, then — with a flying kick — launches the ball straight into the top corner of the net.

CROWD"GOAAAAAL!!"

The stadium exploded in cheers. Students rushed to the railing, chanting Jett's name.

POST-MATCH – FIELD SIDE

The team celebrated, but Jett walked casually back toward the bleachers, arms wide like a champion.

JETTWhat can I say? Born natural.

DAIKI(leaping down and hugging him)That was awesome,

Jett laughed, while Kael groaned and shook his head.

LYRA(teasing)Careful, Jett. Don't let this fame go to your head.

JETT(grinning)Too late.

For that one afternoon, the Sentinels weren't warriors. They weren't defenders of Earth.

They were just teenagers at a school game — and it felt good.
