Chapter 59 - "The Demon's Bargain: A Tohsaka Legacy."

-----

-----

The next day.

Morning!

The weather was... decent.

But the prestigious Tohsaka household in Fuyuki City was wrapped in a heavy, sorrowful atmosphere.

Because the head of the family, Tokiomi Tohsaka, had died the day before.

People were coming nonstop to offer their condolences.

Thanks to Sakura, Minato had taken off his school uniform and changed into formal black clothes.

"Tohsaka's family head... I can't believe he just died like that."

Dressed in a black mourning dress, Irisviel sighed. "Sakura must be heartbroken."

"After all, he was her father."

Minato nodded, though his eyes flickered thoughtfully.

Tokiomi's sudden death hadn't caused any commotion.

If nothing had changed from the original story, then the killer must've been that psycho.

Still, Minato didn't feel much about Tokiomi's death.

Medusa said, "Sakura's with her sister right now, right?"

"Yeah," Irisviel nodded. "Their mother passed away years ago. Now it's just the two of them, so they probably have a lot to talk about."

In the mourning hall.

Rin Tohsaka sat upright, her little face tense.

Was she sad?

Very. She wanted to cry.

But now she was the new head of the Tohsaka family. No matter what, she couldn't show weakness.

Meanwhile—

Sakura sat quietly, crying in front of Tokiomi's memorial portrait.

Even though she'd been adopted into the Matou family, Minato had made sure she never suffered.

So even though she wasn't very close to her father, his death still hurt.

And now... what would her sister do?

She glanced at Rin.

They were both so young. There was no way either of them could live alone.

After hesitating a bit, Sakura leaned closer to Rin and whispered, "Sis, I know a really nice man. Want me to introduce you?"

That uncle was a truly good person. If he found out what happened to Rin, he'd definitely help.

That's what Sakura believed.

Plus, Rin was amazing — maybe she could become part of Uncle's demon family too.

Then they'd never be separated again.

"What uncle?" Rin looked confused. "Someone from the Matou family?"

She couldn't help but feel disgusted at the name of the family that took her sister away.

But Sakura... lately she seemed happy.

If that was the case, maybe showing some gratitude wasn't so bad.

"No, he's not with the Matous. Wait here."

Seeing that Rin hadn't said no, Sakura ran out. "I'll bring Uncle to meet you!"

"Eh? W-Wait..."

A few moments later—

Sakura came back with Minato and the others: "Sis, I brought Uncle!"

"So, you're Rin Tohsaka."

Minato looked at the serious little girl and smiled.

Maybe today I'll get another follower.

Gotta say, Sakura really did a good job.

Medusa squinted at him suspiciously. "Master, are you thinking something shady?"

"Of course not," Minato said seriously. "This is a mourning hall for the dead, after all."

Cough cough... haha...

Artoria's mouth twitched slightly.

A demon, caring about the dead? Yeah, right.

Minato glanced helplessly at her.

The once-innocent King of Knights could roast people now, huh?

"Hello, I'm Rin Tohsaka."

Rin gave him a proper bow. "Thank you for taking care of Sakura lately."

"No need to thank me. It's only natural."

Minato sat down in front of Sakura. "Besides, she's part of my demon family now."

"Demon family?" Rin blinked, confused. "What does that mean?"

"Oh, to put it simply—I'm a demon, and I turned Sakura into one too."

"What?!"

Rin instantly tensed up, panicking. "Y-You... what are you doing here?!"

What was a demon?

A sinister, cunning, evil creature.

At least, that's what all the books said.

She didn't doubt Minato's identity too much.

Even though she was young, she came from a powerful mage family — she knew a lot of myths and legends were real.

"Master, can you not scare kids like that?" Medusa finally spoke up, scolding him softly. "Be more careful."

Wow, she's beautiful...

Rin thought to herself, breathing a small sigh of relief.

Maybe this guy was just one of those annoying jokester uncles.

"Alright, alright."

Minato chuckled. "Rin Tohsaka, do you want to know who killed your father?"

"What?"

Rin stood up, eyes wide. "You—you know who did it?!"

"Of course I do."

Minato smiled. "I'm like... 90% sure."

Rin Tohsaka clenched her fists tightly, gritting her teeth."Please… just tell me. Who killed my father?"

Revenge.

She wanted revenge.

No matter the cost.

"You know, there's no such thing as a free lunch."

Minato chuckled. "I'm a demon, after all. I don't do charity work."

"..."

Rin was caught off guard for a moment, then forced a smile."Sir… please don't joke around."

The guy in front of her…

Really was a bit too much.

"I'm not joking," Minato said seriously. "I really am a demon."

The moment he finished speaking, the back of his black coat tore open—

A pair of eerie, jet-black wings stretched out wide.

The atmosphere in the entire funeral hall instantly turned sinister.

Rin's pupils shrank sharply, her brain just—froze.

It's real.

He's really a demon.

Staring at Minato, an indescribable fear started to spread all over her body.

Her small frame began trembling instinctively.

No matter how mature she acted, she was still just a kid.

Stare ×3

Irisviel and the other two were all staring straight at Minato.

Don't overdo it, man...

Minato gave a helpless smile. "Relax, I'm not a bad guy."

But at this point, Rin couldn't even process anything anymore.

A demon… not a bad guy?

"Seriously. Sakura's been living just fine with me, hasn't she?"

That one line snapped Rin back to her senses.

Huh... now that she thought about it, that did make sense.

"But… you said you turned Sakura into a demon, so..." Rin said without thinking.

"I'm a demon too~"

Matou Sakura smiled sweetly as a tiny devil tail popped out behind her.

Rin: "..."

"....."
