Chapter 44 - "Holy Grail Demon."

Matou Residence.

Underground Library.

"This place is really hidden."

Looking around at the packed bookshelves, Minato sighed. "If that old geezer hadn't told us, we'd probably have to blow up the whole house just to find this room."

"Uncle Demon, this place is sooo boring."

Sakura dragged over a little stool and started swinging her legs from it.

"Here, take these!"

A magic circle flashed in Minato's hand, and in the blink of an eye, a mountain of snacks appeared on the floor.

"Uncle Demon is the best!"

Sakura cheered with sparkly eyes.

"She really is just a kid,"

Minato muttered with a smile, picking up a book and casually flipping through it.

[Origin +5]

[Origin +10]

As expected of the long-standing Matou family—these rare magical texts were the real deal.

Seeing the notifications pop up one after another, Minato's smile grew wider.

"Huh?"

He finished another book and suddenly froze. Looking down at his left hand, a strange sensation began to swirl across the back of it.

The next moment—

Some invisible force gathered at his skin, forming a faint mark that quickly grew clearer and clearer.

"This is...?"

He stared at the command spell now clearly visible on his hand.

Don't tell me... it's time for the Holy Grail War?

And I've been chosen by the Greater Grail as one of the Masters?

"I mean, I am a demon though?"

Minato muttered, "Could it be because of my Origin Magic?"

In this mishmash world, a lot of things had been patched together...

Take the Holy Grail War, for example—there's never been a demon as a participant before.

But hey, maybe that's not a bad thing.

I wonder... can Heroic Spirits be turned into demons?

And that corrupted Grail, full of the world's evil—doesn't that count as Origin too?

A spacious living room.

A massive summoning circle glowed with magic power.

Minato stood at its center, raising his left hand high.

[Commence Summoning!]

[My body is yours… my fate entrusted to you.]

[Answer the Holy Grail's call…]

[Bound by the Three Great Words, born of the Guardian of the Scales…]

As Minato chanted in a low voice, the glow from the summoning circle flared brighter and brighter.

Clack! Clack! Clack!

No one knew how much time passed before the sharp sound of footsteps echoed through the air.

From within the radiance of the magic circle, a tall figure slowly stepped forward.

The figure had incredibly long, eye-catching purple hair that nearly trailed on the ground.

But the most striking thing? Her eyes were completely covered by a black blindfold.

"Servant, Berserker. I've come in response to your summons."

The woman turned her head—her eyes were hidden, but her presence still felt sharp and intense.

"Berserker, huh?"

Minato gave her a once-over, and his eyes lit up more and more.

Class designation? Totally irrelevant.

Even a Berserker is fine—as long as she hasn't lost her sanity.

And most importantly… he recognized her.

The mythical Gorgon from legend—Medusa.

This Servant? Yeah, she's perfect. Smooth. Gorgeous.

"…I get the feeling you're thinking something pretty rude."

Medusa frowned a little. "Also, your mana... it's way too strong for a mage."

"Mage?" Minato made a weird face. "Nah, I'm not a mage—I'm a demon."

"Don't be ridiculous. No way a demon would be allowed to join the Holy Grail War."

"It's true, though."

Minato grinned, and with a sudden whoosh—a pair of black, bat-like wings spread from his back.

A wave of ominous energy burst through the hall, filling it completely.

Behind her blindfold, Medusa's pupils widened in shock. Her mind blanked for a moment.

A demon?He really is a demon?!

What the hell is going on here? How does a demon even get into the Holy Grail War?!

"…Whatever. I'm still satisfied with the result," Minato said, eyeing her up and down. "At first I was kinda worried I'd summon a guy."

Medusa blinked, a bit confused. "And… what would be the problem with that?"

"I'm a demon building a harem," Minato said with a straight face. "Guys? I'm allergic."

Medusa was stunned for a second, then gave him a look. "You really don't hold back, huh?"

"Of course not." Minato chuckled. "Besides, you're totally my type."

"…"

Medusa didn't say anything, but her cheeks turned faintly pink.

No one had ever confessed to her like this before…

She glanced down at herself, subconsciously.

"…But does he really like me? I'm too tall…"

"Cute and petite is supposed to be what guys want, right?"

"…But he did say I'm his type… maybe I could give him a chance?"

"And I mean, demon or not… he's stupidly handsome…"

"…Wait, what am I even thinking about? I just met him!"

Her face turned brighter and brighter red, like it was about to start dripping.

"…This woman's got one hell of an inner monologue," Minato thought, expression unreadable.

Was she… secretly a closet romantic?

"....."
