Chapter 29 - Hot Sales

As a taxi driver, Akio was in a good mood. He picked up a wealthy passenger.

This passenger indicated a specific destination from the moment she got in the car. However, shortly after taking her, she would run back and keep asking for the next one. She had already spent 20,000 yen on the fare, but she was still going crazy.

"Brother, let's go to Sakura Bookstore!"

Indeed, the passenger returned. Akio drove to the next bookstore with ease. The girl's destination was always a bookstore. He didn't know what she was looking for. Akio found it strange that the bookstores on the street were crowded with people, like a vegetable market.

"Girl."

Akio couldn't help but feel curious: "What are you looking for?"

"I'm looking for a manga." The passenger frowned and complained: "Newspapers and news predicted that sales wouldn't be very good. They tricked me! Now there are few copies left in all the bookstores, and the queues are getting longer and longer."

Queues? Were people in those bookstores buying a manga? Akio was stunned. Although he rarely read manga, he knew that wasn't normal. 'How could ordinary manga be popular enough to fill a bookstore...?'

"Wait, are you talking about manga?" Akio was stunned. Suddenly, he thought of something and asked anxiously: "Is that manga Detective Conan?"

"Yes." The passenger nodded and looked at him strangely: "Brother, there's a poster printed on the body of your taxi. How come you don't even know the volume's release date?"

She chose this taxi after seeing the poster.

"Oh, the poster doesn't have a specific date!" Akio shouted. 'He hadn't expected the single volume of Detective Conan to be released. He had been waiting for this manga for weeks:' "I want to buy that book too! It's my money!"

At first, Akio wasn't interested in manga. Last month, the company wanted to select some taxis to print posters. Akio thought they were nice and signed up. But he hadn't expected that since they were printed, more and more people would take his taxi, and his turnover even doubled!

Many passengers are fans of Detective Conan. Even if they aren't, they praise the poster. To keep up with the conversation, Akio borrowed Weekly Shōnen from his colleague. After reading it, he became a fan of Detective Conan.

'How can a fan not have manga?' However, the previous magazines were no longer available, and Akio had been waiting for the release of the single volume.

"You should have told me earlier! These bookstores are useless. I'll take you to Qingyuan Bookstore to buy them." Akio drove fast and explained: "Don't think you can buy best-selling manga in small bookstores. That's a completely wrong idea. Small bookstores have little stock. Only large ones have more!"

"This time I'll discount the fare. You can buy me one later."

"Okay, thank you, brother!"

The passenger also got excited.

They arrived at Qingyuan Bookstore. Akio sat in the car and asked the passenger to go down to buy. She soon bought two thick copies of Detective Conan, one of which she gave to Akio, and left with many thanks.

Although Akio was surprised that she didn't take the car, he didn't care and opened the manga. He was eager to know what would happen in the next part of Kaito Kid!

The previous part talked about Kaito Kid's appearance and his elegant departure at the end, but how he left was a mystery. The plot of the next part was also very interesting. Kaito Kid sent another notice saying he would steal the black pearl at the yacht party.

However, the owner of the black pearl was very cunning. To prevent it from being stolen, she made hundreds of fakes and gave them to all the party guests. Among them, only one was genuine.

"Looking for a needle in a haystack, Kaito Kid surely won't find it..." Akio thought, surprised, though a little disappointed. In the previous part, Conan lost to Kaito Kid, but he didn't expect that this time it wouldn't be him who defeated Kaito.

He kept reading and soon was surprised again.

The black pearl had been stolen. Kaito Kid precisely stole the genuine one among hundreds of fakes, and he himself did not appear!

"How did he steal it?" Akio wondered, feeling that his IQ was obviously insufficient. He quickly turned the page and saw the protagonist, Conan, leading the heroine Ran to the dark cabin. After some reasoning, he gave a surprising answer.

The heroine next to him was Kaito Kid; Kaito Kid had disguised himself as the heroine and took the opportunity to steal the black pearl.

"So that's it!"

Akio suddenly realized, and Conan continued to explain the principle of Kaito Kid's escape in the previous part. It turned out that Kaito Kid was a master of disguise. He deliberately attracted many police officers to the building's rooftop, not to show off, but to disguise himself as a police officer with smoke bombs and blend in with the crowd, creating the illusion of a mysterious disappearance.

"Mirai-sensei is a true genius."

Akio was convinced, and all his doubts disappeared. Kaito Kid, indeed, was not as intelligent as Conan. Then he felt a little sorry. This time, Conan set a trap, and Kaito Kid was doomed. 'Could it be that such a prominent character would end up like this?'

Akio felt moved. He didn't want Conan to lose, nor did he want Kaito Kid to fail. He had to sigh and keep reading, but the next plot suddenly unfolded.

Kaito Kid took off her bra, saying he had taken it off the heroine. Conan was startled, and Kaito Kid took the opportunity to throw her clothes and flee. Conan wanted to chase him, but still rushed to save the heroine, Ran, who was holding the clothes.

In the end, Kaito Kid fled elegantly, and both were tied up. The heroine did not have her bra or clothes taken off. Kaito Kid simply put her on the boat to sleep, and Conan did not fail to solve the puzzle. In the end, he was willing to give up arresting Kaito Kid for the heroine, which was charming.

The second part of Kaito Kid is unexpectedly perfect. The charm of both Kaito Kid and Conan has been further enhanced, and the plot written by Mirai-sensei is very addictive.

"It's incredible!"

Akio praised: "Mirai-sensei is a dream mangaka! It's strange, doesn't it say there's a bookmark on the cover? Why isn't it there?"

He flipped through a few pages and found traces on the last one. The bookmark was torn off. Akio remembered how the passenger had thanked him: "They tricked me! Damn it, no wonder the girl didn't take the bus back! She snatched the bookmark from me!"

'That bookmark must have been something really good!'

Akio was furious, but when he turned around and saw the dense and spectacular crowd at Qingyuan Bookstore, the anger in his heart silently vanished.

"Forget it." He shook his head. 'It was rare to see such a lively sales atmosphere in life. Detective Conan's popularity was shocking. In the future, he would undoubtedly have more and more passengers:' "I hope I can see him more often in this life!"

The 34-year-old taxi driver believed that Mirai-sensei had that ability. Next time, he would advertise Mirai-sensei's manga.

'That's the God of Wealth.'
