On top of the mountain top covered with trees 13 cultivators surrounded Tian Liu.

After all the clan officials finished giving their opinions Tian Liu's step brother, Gao Wan walked to his half-dead body on the ground.
Tian Liu's hair was disheveled and his once spotless clothes were dirty and ragged. Blood was gargling out of his mouth and spilling from the sword in his heart. Tian Liu glared at his brother.
"Fuck you," the words came softly out of Tian Liu's mouth.
Gao Wan, enraged at Tian Liu, stabbed the sword deeply into his heart 10 times.
Tian Liu was holding on to his life and in the last seconds he began thinking what went wrong?
He was never the most talented cultivator nor did he have anything special about him. But here a whole clan was gathered to kill him. His brother, Gao Wan created a fake case about him and what he did. The whole case involved sexual misconduct, homicide and every crime you can think of. But of course Tian Liu didn't commit any of it, but Gao Wan convinced all of his clan officials that Tian Liu did.
When Tian Liu's parents passed, the Gao family who was a family friend to the Tian family took him in and fed him. From there he became great friends with Gao Wan and they were like brothers. Even after the purity test where it was revealed that Gao Wan was a world class talent and Tian Liu was much below average they still remained good friends. But as they got older they slowly started to drift apart and Tian Liu became more like a servant to Gao Wan.
Tian Liu hated being treated as a servant, but he couldn't do much because of his talents.
And even in his last breath he couldn't do much.
Though he did do one important thing before the end of this life. He overheard Gao Wan talking about framing him a while back and because of that he went on the search for the Immortal Demon King's essence. Tian Liu read that whoever drank it would be allowed to be reborn but with a drastic side effect. It was because of the drastic side effect that the Immortal Demon King's essence was not sought for. Though the Immortal Demon King's essence was still a very rare commodity because of its ability of regression, nobody wanted it due to their religious beliefs. Regression was seen as unholy and heresy in the righteous sect. But that didn't matter to Tian Liu, he searched for it for weeks and eventually bought it with his life savings.
So Tian Liu wasn't that down about his death. In fact he was happy he could get back at his brother immediately after he died.
Or so he thought.
