Chapter 33 - rooms

Inside Jace's room, the three of them stood frozen for a moment, almost like they were silently sizing each other up.

Aven broke the quiet first, walking straight to the bed. "I'm sleeping on the bed all night. Don't care." His voice was blunt, carrying that I'm-not-budging energy.

Jace shot him a look. "This bed is big enough for three people. Stop acting like you'll fall off the edge."

Leo, leaning against the wall with his arms crossed, gave a slow, deliberate smile. "Fine. But I'm sleeping on the left side. No matter what."

Before the smugness could settle, Jace moved fast, claiming the right side with a quick hop onto the mattress. "Then I'm taking this side," he said, almost challenging Leo with his eyes.

Aven's head snapped between them, realizing what that left him with. "Oh, hell no—"

Leo was already sliding onto the bed, stretching out lazily. "Looks like you're in the middle, Aven."

Aven groaned, dragging a hand down his face. "This is gonna be the worst night of my life."

Jace stared at the ceiling like none of this was a big deal, while Leo kept sneaking sidelong glances past Aven. The air between them was tight, unspoken, and Aven could practically feel the tension from both sides pressing in on him.

Aven groaned dramatically, throwing his arm over his eyes like the bed itself was a punishment. "Such bad luck of mine… stuck sleeping between one bi and one gay."

Leo's easygoing smirk disappeared in a flash. He turned his head sharply toward Aven, voice snapping like a whip. "I'm not gay. I'm bi too."

Jace, who had been adjusting his pillow, paused and looked at Aven coolly. "And what's the problem with that?" His tone was even, but there was steel underneath—like he was ready to defend himself or Leo without hesitation.

Leo's smirk slid back into place, more teasing this time. "Don't worry, Aven. You're not my type."

Jace rolled his eyes in disgust, the corner of his lip curling. "Ew. If I wanted to fuck you, I'd have done it by now." His voice was laced with mockery, but there was also a hint of annoyance, like the thought itself was absurd.

Leo blinked, then tilted his head with a sly grin. "I never knew you were bi, Jace."

Jace gave a short laugh, lying back and folding his arms behind his head. "Yeah. 'Cause I'm always with girls. You think it's just for friendship with boys?" His tone was casual, but his eyes carried a glint of amusement—half daring, half unapologetic.

Aven groaned again, burying his face in the pillow like he could hide from both of them. "I swear, this night is going to kill me."

Thea and Nova were sitting cross-legged on their bed, the quiet hum of the night wrapping around them. A soft lamp cast a warm glow, making the space feel smaller, more intimate.

Thea glanced at Nova, a faint, almost shy smile tugging at her lips. "I never thought I'd get along with you," she admitted, her tone carrying a mix of surprise and relief.

Nova let out a light laugh, leaning back against the headboard. "Yeah… I thought you were so mean at first."

Thea's eyes widened playfully. "Me? I thought you were mean!"

For a second, they both stared at each other—then broke into soft laughter, the kind that comes when walls start to come down. The tension that had been between them since the beginning seemed to melt away, replaced by a gentle, unexpected warmth.

Kael sat on the edge of his bed, the dim light from the bedside lamp casting long shadows across the room. His hands rested loosely on his knees, but his mind felt anything but calm.Kael leaned back, staring at the ceiling. Why does he keep doing that? he thought, frustration mixing with something he didn't want to name. Every glance, every smirk, every word from Leo felt like it was meant to push him off balance. And the worst part? It was working.

He sighed, running a hand over his face. Outside, the muffled laughter from the other rooms made the silence in his own feel heavier. His chest ached—not with sadness exactly, but with a restless, unsettled feeling he couldn't shake.

"Damn it," he muttered to himself, lying back on the bed and staring into the dark. No matter how hard he tried to ignore it, today's events had stirred something he wasn't ready to deal with.

earlier noise replaced by the soft hum of the night. Kael was half-asleep, lying under the covers, when a sudden knock knock jolted him. He groaned, dragging himself out of bed, his hair sticking up in every direction.

Yawning, he lazily pulled the door open—only to see Leo standing there, looking slightly disheveled. Before Kael could even register what was happening, Leo brushed past him and sat right on the edge of his bed like he owned the place.

"Hey—what the hell? Go back to your room," Kael mumbled, still blinking sleep from his eyes.

"I can't," Leo said, his tone half-complaining, half-amused. "Your brother and Aven are not human when they sleep. It's like they're doing karate all night. Aven literally kicked me off the bed. I'm too tired to deal with that. Let me just crash here—please."

Kael stood there for a second, his sleepy brain struggling to keep up. He should've argued, told Leo to go away… but the weight of his own exhaustion won. "Fine," he muttered, rubbing his eyes.

Leo smirked faintly in victory and lay down without hesitation, pulling the blanket slightly toward himself. Kael sighed and climbed back into bed, keeping as much distance between them as possible.

But as the room grew quiet again, Kael found it hard to relax. He could feel the warmth radiating from Leo's side, hear the slow rhythm of his breathing. It was… oddly distracting.

He shook his head under the covers, silently telling himself not to think about it. A moment later, the heaviness of sleep won, and they both drifted off—two people sharing a bed, pretending it was nothing.

But kael forgot to close door . Door was open whole night .
