Chapter 6 - Unacceptable Reality

Danny walked out of the room smiling and went to report about Lux Aeterna to his admirals.

He was a prideful person, and his dream was to achieve the betterment for everyone.

Tap, tap—his sturdy shoes echoed on the ground as he got closer to the room.

The ceiling was high, with different shapes of bulbs shining above.

He knocked on the twin doors. "This is Captain Danny… of the Bazarkos family," he announced formally.

A big, old voice came from inside. "Come in, and let me eat the hot information you've got, dear kid."

He doesn't change at all, Danny thought. The first and the best Admiral among admirals… The World Protector, Admiral Bock Glerton.

"Sir! I have the name of that girl I brought yesterday." He stood straight in front of Admiral Bock. "She is Lux Aeterna."

"Hmm, Lux Aeterna… never heard of that name, but it feels familiar," Admiral Bock replied in a skeptical voice.

"Sir! I also received a message. According to the records of the past—ah, it's unbelievable!" Danny said, shock on his face.

"What is it?" Admiral Bock asked.

"She is the daughter of King Luther Fourthenent from two hundred years ago," Danny answered.

"And what's good about that? She's now a helpless god-human. She could turn out like the other one we adopted—or worse, she could destroy us if she learns about her ridiculous powers or whatever they really are," Admiral Bock said in a very serious voice, his expression clearly showing that he didn't like what he was hearing.

They kept discussing what to do about Lux Aeterna, since she could be a big threat to them.

On the other side, in floor 55, room 10, Lux Aeterna lay resting.

Sigh… What will happen to me now? I have no one to trust here… but I have nowhere to go. What should I do? she wondered in fear and confusion, staring up at the white ceiling.

She kicked the bed in frustration. Then she climbed down and slowly looked around the room.

These cameras are so easy to find. Even after two hundred years, they're still not that advanced. So my first step is to find out what really happened. After that, it's up to me if I stay or not, she decided.

Then someone knocked on the door. She quickly lay back in bed and covered herself with the blanket.

"Lux! It's me, Danny. I have an important message from our Admiral," he said, then opened the door.

Damn you, freak, she mocked him silently.

Danny brought food and water to the table. "Umm… Lux? You must be hungry, so stop pretending to be asleep, okay? I'll just leave so you can eat now. And before I go, this book here has all the information about what happened two hundred years ago. Alright, I'm off now. Have a great day," he added with a tone that sounded almost concerned.

He left, closing the door fast enough to make a loud noise. Lux flinched in her bed.

What? How did he notice? He really is a freak! A scum and a pervert who probably waits for a chance to feast with a dirty mind. All men are alike—that's the truth of humanity, she thought angrily.

Then her eyes landed on the food on the table. Her stomach growled. Her mouth opened slightly, eyes fixed on the meal. Her mind was torn: Should I eat it? It could be poisoned… but I'm so hungry, I can't stop my hands…

In the end, her hunger won. She ate the food.

After finishing, she grabbed the book and started to read:

> The Roots of Existence: the star that changed humans forever. Chaos and destruction followed, but it gave powers that made them god-like. In return, they lost what made them human. Their will to live on Earth vanished, and they deserted the planet. Not everyone gained these powers—only those who saw or touched the star's light. Those who didn't were left behind on an empty Earth.

She learned about the past, and about the two types of god-humans. The first were called Creators—some witnesses claimed they could create anything in the universe, maybe even the universe itself. The second were Destroyers—thankfully they didn't destroy Earth, but they could destroy anything just by thinking about it. But neither of them could create life out of nothing.

Sweat soaked her bed. She couldn't deny what she read, but what really scared her was herself. What if I'm one of them? What if I lose my humanity and become an empty creature who can't feel anything?

"I must have some kind of power… because I saw the star and even slept under it," she whispered.

Right after saying that, her head felt heavy. She rushed to the bathroom and vomited, fear twisting inside her chest.
