“Wrong. You should’ve ordered them to beg for life and run away,” said Ares.
He stared at Machiades with a sneer, who defended his attack three times, trembling his arms. Was this how far humans could go? As Ares kept striking him, the strength of Machiades’ arm got weaker. His neck and chest were exposed. It was a matter of time to get stabbed in the most lethal parts of Machiades’ body.
Ares adjusted his grip on his spear. Machiades stretched out his hand to the shield he shoved into the ground. It was rapid. But the motion of Ares, piercing Machiades’ neck with his spear, was faster. The tip of his spear scratched Machiades’ shield with a squeaking noise.
‘Urgh!’
Machiades let out an ear-splitting shriek. Ares’ spear narrowly escaped his carotid arteries and penetrated his left shoulder.
