If he kept silent even for a second, Eutostea would become anxious and lose her mind, thinking he might have disappeared. She stretched her hand to the back to check if he was behind her.
Apollo’s fingers, clutching the back of her hand, curled inward. He pressed his hand so hard that he left his fingerprints on her palm. Apollo swallowed his sigh and hugged Eutostea tightly. He didn’t leave her. His heart was with her at all times.
His breath, touching her ear, was as cold as the winter air. Like it belonged to the dead. Eutostea’s neck hair stood on end.
“Apollo?”
Apollo whispered in a scratchy and raspy voice, “I’m still here.”

“Do you love me?”
