"Run faster you dimwits, don't let her out of your sight" she heard from behind and her heart pounded with fear she tried to run faster but her legs were aching due to her heels but she couldn't dare stop to take it off she was scared that if she did they would get her.
Just then she ran into a dark thicket she could hardly see a thing but didn't stop running, passing tall and more taller trees,
Just then her legs gave up.
she groaned as she pulled her legs closer to feel the swollen feet it was dark and she could hardly see a thing but she could feel the pain,
She whimpered silently as she tried to massage the legs. Just then she heard footsteps crush on petals, her breath took a hold and instantly she forgot the pain on her legs and rose up on her feet she staggered quietly trying to hide.
She hid behind a tree and heaved heavy pants, she didn't know who they were or why they were in search for her but she knew it was for no good, she recalled some of those defence books gifted to her by her dad back then.
She looked around she couldn't dare go in further it was dark and who knew what kind of creatures would await to eat her, besides she couldn't take the risks she knew her legs would give up if she tried.
The men stood there in the dark with their phone torch on, they looked around here and there, but there was nothing it was almost like looking into pure darkness.
"Boss… I don't think… the lady is here" One of the man manage to say reluctantly, "it's too dark, a lady wouldn't dare walk in here..Boss i don't think…" he instantly fell shut the instant the "so called boss" turned his gaze to him, he pressed his lips together And lowered his gaze.
"You fools!..you let her our of your sight, such simple work you can't even do it" he said as he grabbed the man's neck he tightened his grip on the man's neck making the man face turn from fair white skin to reddish purple.
The men around him said nothing, they couldn't, if they did, they knew there was more worst for them.
Just then they heard a noise from a side of one of those long tree, the boss turned his gaze towards it he then gave a light nod to one of those men around him to check it out then his guard lowered a bit and the hold on the man released a bit.
"I found her boss!!" suddenly dimwits boss face lits up a bit as the man struggled and stubbornly carry the lady,
"Let me go, you bastard!..." she said struggling to get off him but he was clearly too strong for her, she cursed silently only if the stone hadn't roll over she might not have been caught. she knew there was nothing else to do but pretend to get into their hands.
She couldn't let them take her away and she definitely had little strength, just then a little idea struck her and she bit the man, grateful to her sharp teeth she pierced her teeth through firmly on his skin,
she then felt the taste of blood but still didn't let go until she felt the hold of the man release,
Sharply she fled from him and just as she was going to make a run for it another strong grip pulled her hair backward. "
"Aaaaah…" she cried and tried to move back to his grip. Oh, her most delicate part was her hair, she groaned, she heard a light chuckle
"Tough one, huh?" she heard and then the man walk to her front still holding her hair,she has gotten used to the dark now and could see him well, he had a devilish smile on his face, a smile of satisfactory, he looked her up anddown.
"Aren't you a resilient lady?, no wonder the boss told me to be careful to get a whole you back there… miss Callie Norris" he said and a devilish smile played at the corner of his lips, he then raised his gaze from her "Are you okay Kay" he asked the man who grabbed her the other time,
he just hummed with a smug on his face, he had his hand placed on the wound from avoiding to waste his blood "The lady gots guts boss!, just take a look at what she did to me" he said and took his hand away showing the red bitten mark on his neck,
it sure would leave a mark there, a mark reminding him never to deal with a woman forcefully.Men always had their pride, and this was a shame to get bitten by a lady."Sure thing, Kay"
Callie rose up her teary gaze and saw the man staring at her oddly, her gaze were teary yet steady and furious, " Who the heck are you.. who sent you, what do you want from…" she hadn't finished her sentence when she felt a finger on her lips
"Tsk, Tsk miss Norris you are such a talker…" he said, Callie instantly drew her face away from his hand, throwing him a disgustful look
"You are playing hard to get,huh? you stressed me alot and no one has ever done that,.. Don't you think you must pay for that"He said with a besotted smile playing at the corner of his lips as he look Callie up and down with pleaaure.
"I owe you nothing…" She said trying to hide her fear and instead she heard laughters from behind, her body stiffen a bit suddenly understanding what he meant and those men were mocking her,
The boss wouldn't budge if i get to taste her, right?" he said to the men and they laughed again, it sounded like a way of acknowledging it and asking for a permission from his men
Callie swallowed hard not taking her gaze up to him, he smiled feeling a wave of satsifactory.He grabbed her waist pulling her to him she struggled,
Only if she had a knife she would stab his damn hand which just touched her.
Indeed Callie was a stunning beauty that one can't help but look twice at her after passing by, her long raven-black hair cascaded her back like a waterfall of night, her round shape eyes sparkles like bright sapphires, her presence always commanding attention without demanding, it wasn't a surprise if he wanted to have Callie even if it was a little bit.
Callie tried to push him away but that only gave him the chance to pull her in more Stay still, it won't hurt" his voice, low and hoarse which made Callie shivered,
he then chuckled at her nervousness,
He was utterly mocking her. The fear she had been hiding suddenly show up on her face as she heard tear of fabrics
She look down to see her beautiful blue diamond dress which she had just gotten for the Oldman Byres party all wrinkled and ruined, showing her fair white laps. She couldn't bare it anymore and just bit the man hand,
that was her only weapon currently.
"Aahh…" he instantly flinch from her, his eye widened at the sight of the blood flowing down, his gaze instantly turned and took a step forward and...
Baamm…
A slap landed on her face making her head turn sideways, she took steps backward her eyes feeling dizzy and just then…
She fell flat on the ground her head hitting the floor hard
" She deserves it boss" one of the men said with no pity, she was a lady after all they should at least see that.
The boss was indeed furious and sneered at her he turned away from her walking towards his men murmuring unheard words.
Callie felt her cheek burn hard and she blinked severally to try to see well,she felt tears flickered and went down her cheek.
She knew there was no going back she had annoyed the "so called" boss there was no way back, she had to find another way to escape.
Chapter two
"Help!… somebody help!!!…"This was the last thing she could think of, she had read a defence book sometimes ago,
it was likely not to be of help but in cases when there are no more chances there was a possibility it could just Work if it meant using her last strength, she would do it.
"Help please, somebo…" her voice trailed off when she felt a tight grasp on her neck that pulled her head up
"You punk, it seems you have a death wish, thanks to you no one can find you in here to save you,…You should have just accepted while you had the chance" the stinky boss said,
Callie face remained calm she had only run in thinking they wouldn't follow her but they did, she sighed and lowering her gaze, the man sneered
"No time to regret, you ve lost it" he said and pushed her back to the ground, she had actually sighed because she didn't see the shadow which stood somewhere beside a tree, she saw the other time
"Pick her up, we are leaving now" the boss said as he turned away, Callie shut her eyes, feeling too tired to do anything, to even fight back….
"Don't you dare lay a hand on her"...
they heard a deep cold voice from nowhere and then they all turned to the direction the voice came from and
indeed a tall well built man stood in the dark by a tree his face hardly seen, one hand shoved in the pocket and the other staying idle on his otherside.
The boss took one or two step forward to see the person but got no glimpse his eyebrow furrowed,
"Hey, don't you just try to be a hero, get lost" the boss commanded, but the man made no attempt of moving that made the boss even more angry.
"Hey!,.. are you deaf or what?, get lost!" the boss voice grew louder and just then a slight chuckle echoed around the thicket.
"Such a coward to pick on a lady… Are you tired of living?" his voice echoed again, he spoke with rare authority, his voice roared after each words
Callie opened her eye weakly, she heard the voice and she could feel a bit secured,The voice sounded unfamiliar but this was certainly not the shadow she had seen earlier.
They looked entirely different. "You… Who do you think you are to speak to me like that" The boss was really furious if he had thought of letting this intruder go before now, he certainly must have had a change of thought, he would make him suffer, but how sure was he?
A light smile played on the intruders lip and finally took a step forward to where he could be seen
"You don't need to know since you are going to die anyways" His voice was cold and terrifying that made the boss subordinates flinch,
Just then the icy guy snapped his finger together, then fast footsteps was heard from far and just then some men were led in by a guy in suit to the icy man
"Mr president…" the guy in suit called bowing slightly " Forgive me for arriving late" he said but that didn't seem to bother the president
"Finish them…"
The boss subordinate took steps back, looking terrified, the boss stared in a complete dispair
Just two words, sounded like giving them their last words, who the heck was this man
"Yes Mr president" the guy in suit replied and then gave the men behind him sign to move in.
With that settled, the president walked over to Callie, he towered over her staring at her for a moment before picking her fragile body from the ground,
it almost felt like carrying a child For a while he thought she was lifeless, afraid he had been to late to save her but he could feel her soft breath on his shoulder
she wasn't dead, maybe just too weak…
He gently takes her to the Rolls royce parked at the side of the road, he gently sat her in,that was when he finally took a close look at her,
she was badly bruised,he stared at the red finger marks on her face, and her burst lips.
A sudden wave of anger washed over him, he fisted his grip and lowered his gaze from her and pulled the seatbelt over her before shutting the door, just then he saw James approaching him.
"Mr president,"he called, as he neared by " Your suspicions were correct, it was truly miss Callie Norris" he said,
Indeed today was his grandpa welcome party which he threw for himself after returning from China for a surgery Although, Callie Norris had been invited, but she left even when the party wasn't even yet over,
Leo had seen her get into her car the same time he was getting into his, It was truly disrespecting to leave a party when it wasn't over, but he was doing the same, wasn't he?.
But while on the main bridge he saw her car again,he wanted to ignore it and drive pass it when he sighted her car door open with no one inside he felt it…
Absurd,and sent James to get more men while he went in search for her. Leo didn't seem moved by what James said,
he had an unreadable expression but James working with him for so long could detect he was already in a foul mood
"We should head to the hospital, we are not sure of what danger miss Norris is right now" James said as he walked to the car
"Hand the keys over" James paused at hearing that word and turned back to Leo, he looked like he was going to say something but just swallowed it and put the keys in his hand
"Sort out things here and make no mistake in it at all" Leo said in a icy tone, James instantly bowed a bit and not stare at his cold gaze
"Yes mr president" , Leo hopped in without hesitation and drove off….. James slowly rose up and stare at car move at a full speed
(why was the president angry all of a sudden…) he thought
Chapter three
Leo sat quietly in the reception staring at the room Callie was taking into.
he had a dark expression that could fear people but yet feel amused in the same way.
His dark deep black eyes that seem to capture people in it, his broad shoulders leaned slightly on the tip of the chair, with his long legs crossed, his eyes burned with intensity that seem to see through one's soul.
Suddenly an old lady came rushing in, to the receptionist she seemed aggravated, her voice shaked as she spoke with the nurse at the reception,
Leo didn't take his gaze off the door until he heard the old lady said "Yes, miss Callie Norris, i am here for her" she said with the same shaky tone,
Leo stared at her, his grandpa said Callie was an orphan,
so who was this?…
The lady wasn't all that old, maybe in her middle age she certainly didn't have any similar features to Callie,
the lady was ushered to a sit next to Leo, they dared not tell her to sit beside Leo. but that didn't seem to bother the lady mich she was more attentive to the red light.
….
Quite after three hours,
the red light finally turned green and then the door opened, a doctor came out still fully dressed in his mask and gloves, He was expecting the family of the patient…
Just then he sighted Leo Byres seated in the reception room, his eye widened and his physique changed instantly and he shivered.
Did they fear him that much…
"Mr… mr president.. i didn't expect.. to see you here" he sounded so nervous, his forehead were covered with sweat,
Leo finally shifted on the seat, changing his leg position, "How is she?" he simply asked, the doctor bowed his head daring not too look him to the face "We… She.. She suffered many stitches, we had to run multiple of test to be sure she was fine, Mr president" the doctor said his nervousness fully visible
Leo gaze turn to the door the doctor had just come out from, some doctors stood there afraid to move.
Leo nodded slightly, his brow still furrowed with hidden thoughts
Beep beep…
He shoved his hand into his pocket and brought out his phone, he scanned the message for a moment before rising from the seat, without a word he walked out of the hospital,
suddenly the tension in the area dropped,
even miss Ford, the old lady felt it. she look at the exit again where he has just passed through, the man carried so much authority,
(why does he look familiar..) miss Ford thought.
Leo Byres was the second son of late Xander Byres, the CEO to Byres & co innovations, one of the best tech app making company in the whole technology app world, a such exceptional billionaire president, he was one-of-a-kind, it was quite hard to become a president at such young age, it takes dedication and alot of reading and practicing before becoming a president, and yet he had done it like it was just so easy to get. Alot envied him and some even went to the extent of worshipping his talents,
But just one major problem,
Leo Byres had anger issues which was quite known to everyone, and how merciless he treated his offenders.That was an obvious reason they feared him…

Soon enough, Callie Norris was transferred to the VIP wards to have some rest, she slowly woke up, she felt a bit dizzy and suddenly felt her head throb in extreme pain
"Urgh…"she groaned out, as she shoved her hand into her hair and shut her eye " Miss Norris…" she heard a soft female voice and then someone holding her gently, she slowly open her eyes, there she saw a nurse, towering over her
"Miss Norris, you are awake" the nurse said with a small smile, Callie frowned slightly before struggling to sit up, she was obviously confused,
she only recalled being ambushed by some men,Now here? Had she already been ambushed?
"Where is this?.." Callie asked staring at the nurse curiously "Ma'am, you are the hospital" the nurse said again meticulously,
she was being extremely careful in other not to offend Callie just because they feared Leo, they thought she must be close to Leo that's why he had brought her personally not sending his usual P.A
"Do you need a glass of water, miss?" the nurse asked as she poured some water into a glass cup,
indeed Callie felt her throat were indeed dried, After all her running and the fear it was certain she was…
she drank the water slowly, not that she didn't want to gush it down, but she still felt suspicious, maybe her ambushers were still around and has brought her to the hospital
Just then the icy voice she heard from the thicket came flashing in her head as she drank the water… or was she really saved?…
" Urm, miss could you tell me what happened to me" Callie pretended to not remember a thing, she just wanted to know who had brought her to the hospital, maybe it was her ambushers or … her saviour.
"Miss, it was…"
Bang….
The door opened in a large bang and a young guy in loosed suit stepped in " Callie…" he sounded astonished,
he looked her fully, she had stitches all over and there was a large bandage wrapped on her head.
" Jason…"
she almost limped up with joy at seeing him, she finally believed she was saved, she let out a cute pout as Jason slowly walked in, his gaze never leaving her,
she had thought she wouldn't see her stubborn best friend anymore but he was here and she was glad. Jason gave a sign for the nurse to leave and she left,
Jason Macdonald was also a tech app manager, he was also one of the app makers, but wasn't close to Leo one bit, he had a litte company himself.
So was Callie, Callie Norris managed NT. ( Norris tech) VENTURES, which was left to her by her father, she admired the work of making apps from little, she would watch and help her father make some basic tech app.
"What happened Callie,… who did this to you" he said scanning her body again and again, Callie sighed she didn't have the answer to that yet...
She had only gone for the Welcome party of Oldman Byres, but she had a call from the office and was just heading back, she didn't enjoy the party after all, but the next minute she noticed some black jeep tailing her…. That was all she could say, and… she met herself here.
Jason leaned slightly on the chair staring for a moment his eye brow deeply furrowed, Callie noticed his silence and she instantly knew he was cooking up a plan
"Hey, Jay don't act impulsive, i have everything under control" she said and he just glanced at her.
Knock-knock...
the door slightly opened and a lady showed up dressed co-operately "Miss Callie…" she called as she walked in, then lowered her gaze
"Forgive me miss, for not protecting you" the lady said apologetically Callie pressed her lips together " There is no need for that now.." she said, Indeed she really didn't need all of those now
" What happened at the office?" Callie added "The president of Liu-hang group came over and wanted to try out the apps we made for him… I had to shift the meeting putting up some excuses" the lady said, Callie nodded and then paused,
she narrowed her gaze as she sulks her tongue " Vivian, i want you to investigate on this, find out every single details of those men" Callie said
"Yes, miss Norris" Vivian answered with a slight nod and turned to leave.
"Wait a second…" Callie voice drew her back, Callie hesitated for a moment looking a bit distant for a second
"Find out the person who saved me" she ordered and Vivian gave a slight nod and left. "Callie, why don't you leave this to me to handle and focus on getting better"
Jason finally spoke up, Callie just smiled "Because i know you are rough" she said teasingly.
But it was true Jason was quite rough and would act impulsively if he found out who tried to hurt her.
He sneered and sat up, his hand leaning on his kneel, his gaze serious and directed at Callie " Next time when going somewhere unannounced remember to take bodyguards with you, Miss Norris" he said with a scolding tone,
Callie pressed her lips not saying a thing, Jason rose up "I will send more guards over, I have to leave now l have some undone work at the office,I will see you in the evening" he said and Callie just nodded.
With that he stepped out, encountering miss Ford on the way. "Here already?" miss Ford said with a small smile,
Jason lowered his gaze and sighed "Forgive me miss Ford, i failed my promise… i didn't keep her safe" he said his voice abit low,
Miss Ford patted his shoulder. "Don't worry, i know you are trying your best, it's just a good thing she is fine" she said,
Jason rose his gaze to her, then took a step forward to be bit more closer to her
"Miss Ford, do you have any idea who would want miss Norris dead?" he asked, miss Ford looks up at him and sighs
"The Norris has a lot of enemies, i can't say who is after her precisely…" she said, a bit of disappointment spiked in Jason's eye,
Its natural that miss Ford knows alot of the Norris family, she had been working with them for a while, even before Callie was born
Jason was abit disappointed, he knew miss Ford was holding back because of Callie, she didn't
always want him to know her situations,
" Hey, don't bother about it, I am sure Callie must be hungry, let me get her these" she added and Jason smiled and nodded
"Alright, miss Ford, i will leave first…" he said and then walk out of the hospital.
