"It's a long story," Akashi said as he entered through the window, ignoring Korra and making his way to the fridge. "If there is something that matters, come back tomorrow."

He opened the fridge, got a large piece of bread, jelly, butter, meat, and anything he could put his hand on. He mixed them and began eating as if he had never seen food before.

He was that hungry after getting 6 levels.

And to be honest, getting them was not easy.

Korra walked to his side while the chief looked at him dumbfounded.

She grabbed a bottle of water and bent the water out of it. At the same time, she ripped a part of it.

There was a large bite mark.

"Who did this to you?" asked Korra.

"Would you believe me if I tell you it's the spirits?" Akashi asked. To be fair, the roaster wasn't just an enemy for humanity. It became an enemy to spirits as well.

"Hahaha… why would spirits be after you," Korra laughed. "Though, did someone kidnap you and throw you to the sharks?"

Akashi shook his head.

Lin, who had been observing him, knew that he was telling the truth.

Some spirits did this to him.

Korra bent the water and began healing Akashi's wounds while he focused on eating.

— — — Flashback — — —

Akashi stopped in front of one of the islands that seemed to have a diameter of 100 meters.

What attracted his attention was that there was grass and trees.

In such an environment — which obviously had existed for tens of thousands of years — animals were certain to exist. And therefore, predators.

You see, with grass eaters existing, carnivores follow. Otherwise, the grass eaters would continue eating until nothing was left, and the island would turn lifeless.

That's how nature works.

"Good place to hunt." Akashi dove with his spinning sphere to the island before stepping on the air.

Akashi walked on the air gracefully. By now, he could proudly say that he mastered walking on the air.

By manipulating the air resistance, increasing it and decreasing it in different spots repeatedly, Akashi had managed to reach a level where it felt he could walk on air without mental effort. He wondered if by leveling up his airbending a few more levels, he would be able to fly.

He arrived at the island, standing high in the air.

He crossed his arms, looking at a truck-sized deer running, and behind it, an only slightly smaller cat chasing after it. The speed of the creatures was amazing. The yellowish cat that looked like a tiger caught it in no time. With a single bite, it tore a part of it. And then, that predator got on its top, biting the head and the life out of the poor deer.

"Amazing," Akashi said, feeling afraid and excited at the same time.

This creature was very fast for its size, and very strong.

No wonder humans needed the Turtle Lions giving them bending to survive in this world.

'If I recall correctly, the ones that had to hunt were earthbenders and firebenders… their elements work on animals of any size. As for airbending, the first users could fly, and they could escape from any dangerous situation.

'Hmm… I get it. They picked up fruits and escaped. That's why they are vegetarian. Not because of a deep reason, but because it's easier to run than fight.'

'But I'm different.'

Akashi extended his hand to the side. A vacuum core formed from thin air, with spinning winds coming from every direction, forming a compressed sphere made of sharp winds.

'Since I'm leveling up, it's wiser to use my points at something that's really hard to get naturally and could be useful in battle.'

[Wisdom up to 20]

[Chi 350/500]

[Energy expenditure has been lowered]

[Chi recovery has increased. 10 Points/Min]

[A perk has been unlocked]

[Meditative Mind: Learn more from less. Experience points increase by 30%]

'That's very good,' Akashi would have celebrated if he hadn't gotten a weapon in his hand. But the thing he kept in mind was that there's a possibility to unlock perks when an attribute reaches twenty points.

Akashi slammed the spinning ball in the direction of the truck-sized tiger from a distance, making it fly out of his hand.

Yeah, Akashi wouldn't attempt to fight such a creature directly. Creatures like that had very high reaction speed and were very aggressive.

And he was a human. And it's in human nature to choose the easier and safer path.

As Akashi slammed the sphere at the tiger, the wind Rasengan exploded, creating an even larger sphere that trapped the tiger. Akashi hadn't just thrown the ball, but at the same time, he amplified the shockwave by simply thrusting his fist in its direction.

The thick and strong hide of the tiger seemed to be able to withstand metal blades. But not the strong shockwave. The skin got wounded, and the sphere around it turned red with blood.

"Mostly the same as an Earth Kingdom's assassin," Akashi muttered as he kept flying to a tree nearby to settle on its top.

Akashi sat down and observed the surroundings.

Suddenly, he felt the air around him shifting, only to find a snake with a head as large as a cow, heading to him with wide-open mouth.

Reacting quickly, Akashi spread his arms wide open.

The air around the head was pushed, creating a vacuum core sustained by the air around it.

The snake, in no time, stopped moving, its body lurching back and forth.

And soon, its eyes popped out, greasy yellowish blood spraying out of its nose.

Akashi's facial expression was beyond words.

For one, he hated snakes so much and had almost a phobia of them.

And this one was damn too big, and damn too close.

He felt a chill on his skin as he created another Rasengan and sent it flying to the snake, destroying its body into shreds.

'Trees are not options,' he thought as he hugged his arms, still shivering. 'No way I'm staying here for too long.'

By now, it seemed that finding a shelter was no option. Other than the beach, this forest seemed too dangerous to even take a breath. And even at the beach, there was no guarantee that he wouldn't face unknown species.

"Fuck the food chain."

Akashi stayed still in his place. As he had leveled up, he didn't need to rest to recover his energy. So, he began his hunting, looking for the next preys.

The day was quite handful, and he managed to get three levels in a single day from hunting normal carnivores and beasts. He had hunted some grass eaters as well, since they were big enough to provide enough experience.

And so, the hunting continued.

At night, when Akashi got tired, he went to the beach.

Since he was far from the city, no one would mind him training his wavesbending.

He stood on the beach and screamed his lungs out until his chi was over.

Because of the screams, no animal, predator or not, would dare to come over.

So, he had thought, and he had managed to get two hours of sleep before waking up alert. His body didn't allow him to sleep more than necessary. And he got super hungry, forced to grab the snacks he had brought and eat them in one go.

'I have a serial killer to catch. So, I'm going to spend the remaining day hunting.'

Akashi then slipped back to the forest, his HP, Stamina, and Chi full. And he began his hunting.

It got slower, that's for sure. But he managed to get another three levels by the end of the day.

And as his stats got lower and all, he went to the sea and began screaming to the top of his lungs.

The water surface couldn't remain calm from all those screams.

And soon, it split into two.

Akashi stopped, thinking that having such a power didn't make sense.

And indeed, it didn't make sense.

What made sense was that from the sea that split into half, a glowing figure with six tentacles floated.

"A spirit…" Akashi muttered.

The spirit looked at him, saying, "A monster…" before pointing one of the tentacles at him, electricity charging at its top.

"A monster that has no respect for nature. A monster that kills and screams, never letting anyone in both realms have peace. A monster that must be eliminated."

Needless to think, Akashi removed the air resistance around him and turned to run, bolts after another chasing him.

Luckily, it was dark, so he managed to hide from the eyes of the spirit that appeared.

Akashi closed his eyes as he savored the food.

He had truly survived.

In the middle of trying to escape the spirit, he had been bitten and scratched on the way. But still, he kept running. Even on the water, he managed to run and made his way to Republic City, burning through all of his energy and stamina.

'At least I got six levels, bitch,' Akashi thought as he kept eating.

After escaping, he reached Republic City and had even met with the Equalists on the way, people preparing for a strike.

They had given him an invitation.

The worst part was they had not recognized him despite tracking him a few days ago because he looked like a homeless man.

"Thanks," Akashi said to Korra, feeling his wounds healing on the spot.
