Chapter 72 - Chapter 71 Inherent Spell.

Auden still remembered what happened when Gryffindor faced Voldemort's wraith that day. He used the Patronus spell to create a sort of armour around his body, by which he had killed the Horcrux within seconds after beating the crap out of it to vent his frustrations.

"Yeah, do you mean I will be able to use this spell now?" Auden asked as he felt his body was brimming with magic.

"Well, not exactly the spell I used."

"What do you mean?"

"Well, I'll give you a short version. Before we standardised the practice of magic, that is, before the time when students were learning magic step by step, there were many wizards who learned to use magic completely on their own.

They did it by experimenting on the magical energy they were able to exhibit through intense emotions. And since they never learned any spells or incantations, they were able to unlock a specific kind of magic present within their bodies.

A kind of spell which almost seemed like it was natural to every wizard. We call this spell the inherent spell belonging to every single wizard in the world. Sometimes these spells can be passed down from generation to generation, and sometimes a different kind of spell can come from an individual of a family.

But ever since we began to systematically teach people magic, they began focusing on spells more and more and researching their own magic less and less.

Now, with the way you are learning your magic, you would have naturally learned your inherent spell within a decade or two. But with this ritual, I can speed up the awakening of your magic," Gryffindor said as fast as he could.

When Auden heard it, his thoughts went back to an anime in his old life.

'Isn't this Jujutsu Kaisen's Cursed Technique?'

"Wait a minute, you said this was inherent. Does that mean the old families' pure-blood ideology came from this kind of thinking?"

"Yes, it did. Inheriting a technique present in a family can be extremely useful, as the family members will be able to reduce the years it takes for you to unlock this spell, since they too have the same spell within them. Now, this spell can be replicated by other wizards by using magic, but it will never reach the ease at which a person uses an inherent spell.

For example, if two wizards with the same amount of knowledge and power were made to face each other, and only one of them had inherent magic that could use Expelliarmus, the time it takes for the opponent to use Expelliarmus might be one second, whereas the one with inherent magic will be able to use it within 0.01 seconds."

Auden immediately realised the usefulness of inherent magic. He wanted to see what his inherent magic was as well.

"But wait, that means the Parseltongue of the Gaunt family is an inherent spell, right? So why have I never seen another wizard family use anything similar?"

Gryffindor sighed sadly at that.

"That is another one of the disappointments I have towards this new era. They became so obsessed with blood purity that they forgot what it actually represented. And even the Gaunt family had not lived up to their full potential. Salazar's Parseltongue was capable of controlling every reptilian species, not just snakes and basilisks. He was able to command dragons themselves for the battles he faced." Gryffindor had a reminiscing look on his face.

"But wait, doesn't that mean my inherent skill is Parseltongue? And what about that magic recovery I got from the Salazar bloodline?"

"The magic recovery ability is something that was not inherently present within our bodies. It was created by us using our own research. So you don't have to worry about that. Now, for the matter of you getting Parseltongue… Do you remember why Salazar was gloating when he learned that you got his inheritance the first time?"

"Yeah."

"That's because your body is special. You were a homunculus who changed into human form due to the combined power of our magic. And when we tested you, we found out that along with the potential to awaken an inherent spell, you also had the ability to inherit an inherent skill from among the four of us."

"That means…"

"That means after getting Parseltongue, you lost the power to get a cool ability like mine." He said this as suddenly his body got covered with a reddish armour. The armour's shape was similar to the Patronus armour he used against Voldemort that day, but instead of silver-white, it was red.

"My inherent spell is Armourization. I can convert any spell I want into the form of an armour covering my body. Any spell changed into my armour has its power increased by many times, and I can use them to attack constantly while the armour is present.

"This armour is made by the Expelliarmus spell," Godric said as he lightly touched a rock.

Boom!!!

The rock shot out and penetrated through three trees before destroying itself in the fourth one.

Auden was shocked at what he just witnessed. The Expelliarmus spell had two abilities. One rids the enemy of the equipment they are holding, and the second effect is the knockback effect. But he had never seen a knockback effect so violent like this one. He was sure that if it had hit a human body which was not reinforced by magic, it would have been destroyed before reaching the first tree.

"And the spell takes effect from any part of my body covered by armour, not just my hands, so any physical touch would do the same thing. Plus, my Protego armour has countered two Killing Curses simultaneously before getting destroyed."

"Damn, that's cool."

"I know, right?" Gryffindor lit up. "Now, let's not waste time and find your inherent spell. The boost I gave you was extra, so for a few hours you will be supercharged with energy. The perfect time to discover your inherent technique."
