"Alright and that's it I think" Auden said as he completed writing the last rune on the set of shoes in front of him.
"Yes you did an excellent job, and you have improved your runic skills when compared to how you were before the Christmas holidays. So now you can be more prepared for the future" Rowena commended as she inspected the work Auden had done.
Auden then put the shoes in his ring. A special gift for the bullies who will target Luna when he goes back to class. Though there was another important thing that he heard back in Hogwarts.
A few days ago, there has been a report about a student being attacked while they stayed back for the holidays in Hogwarts. The attack had left the student with a few flesh wounds along with the fact that the student had completely forgotten about how the attack happened to him.
Auden was able to immediately understand that Lockheart was behind it. If it was an ordinary memory loss spell, they would already reversed it, and the student would have been able to tell them about the culprit of the incident. But this kind of memory wipe that can't be fixed by even the teachers of Hogwarts tells a lot about the person who put that spell on the student.
Dumbledore might have found out, and his skill might have been enough to return the memories of the student even without using the Elder wand. But he must have some kind of plan to make Harry do the dirty work.
Now the question is why Lockheart attacked the student. Most obvious one is the student finding out about the secret of his adventures which can be considered mild. But an even more horrific scenario is that he is creating problems so as to become famous again.
The lack of the attacks by the Basilisk had put Lockheart under the scrutiny of the entire student body. If the basilisk had attacked the students, most of their focus would be on the attacks instead of the incompetence of their defence against dark arts teacher. But right now there is nothing that will make the students believe in Lockheart's adventures by the end of the year.
So, he must have become desperate in accomplishing something in front of the students and must have decided to attack them.
Auden felt like he was getting a headache while he speculated all of this. As he knew this plan of his will only end with someone getting framed for his crimes, just like Hagrid had many years ago.
And Lockheart might even use Hagrid for it as the Ministry's old factions were seething at the accusation they got when Hagrid was proven not guilty. If they managed to pin another crime on Hagrid right now, they could argue that Hagrid was already a criminal minded person even if he did not do the murder years ago.
"Are you alright My boy" Suddenly Helga came from the side.
"Yeah, nothing much, I feel like its going to be a headache when I go back" Auden said as he pointed towards the news in the newspaper.
"Oh, that seems wrong. How can a student get attacked while in Hogwarts. Especially when there are less students for those teachers to take care of in the holiday season" Helga asked as she had a slightly sad expression on her face. hearing about the atrocities of the wizarding world as well as the incompetence shown by the wizards had actually saddened her more than make her angry.
She was the last of the founders to die and she had made sure that the next generation was taught everything right before she died. Even the working government was made to follow the rules that were fair to all. But seeing it did not last long had actually made her more disappointed in herself rather than the other who currently hold power in the wizarding world.
"Its not your fault Helga and trust me, when we finish the enchantments for the spiritual manifestation spell, we can take revenge upon the ones who had enslaved the Elfs. Though we might not be able to free the ones of this generation, we can make sure that the next generation is raised properly" Auden consoled Helga while reminding her about a few of their future plan.
The first spell, the spiritual manifestation spell is used so that the spiritual beings or ghosts would have the ability to interact with the objects of the real world. This would help in a lot of cases an plans in the future. Salazar and Rowena are using the data on spiritual beings collected by Helena Ravenclaw for the last two thousand years to create a spell that allows them to do it. And the freeing of the Elfs part is a bit hard as the current generation of Elfs believe in the fact that they are meant to be servants. It had been engrained in their very beings by their predecessors who made sure that their descendants also follows the same path.
Dobby can be considered as the biggest outlier of the group and if Auden's right, he might not be freed like in cannon due to Auden's actions.
'Another thing happened because of bad planning' Auden sighed as he was once again reminded of the consequences of bad planning.
'Though there might be a way to do it if he ever comes back to Hogwarts later' Auden thought as he took out the Basilisk's fang from his ring. Because of the attack from Voldemort's spirit and the exhaustion that came with it he had forgotten to put it in Dumbledore's office. So, Dumbledore would have to destroy the diary using Fiendfyre and then there would be no chance for Malfoy senior to ever return to Hogwarts.
'So I'll have to do something that 's not at all in the right side of things' Auden winced as he thought about the plan that came to his mind.
Its not good, but it will help free the life of an Elf that has the common sense to yearn for freedom.
