Chapter 34: By the Way, My Secret You Promised to Keep…

Ju-kyoung watched Soo-hoo carefully as he flipped through the pages of his book.

She had been wondering all this while what secret he was talking about. If it wasn't her no-makeup secret, then what was it? She doubted he would even reply, but she just had to try.

Taking a deep breath, she glanced at him, though he didn't spare her a single look.

"By the way… my secret you promised to keep…"

Soo-hoo didn't bother to look at her. His eyes stayed fixed on the book. "What about it?"

Ju-kyoung felt sweat forming across her forehead. It was like being interrogated. His expression was unchanged, and she couldn't fathom why her heart was racing so fast.

"If I were to ask you what that was…" she paused, biting her lip before finishing, "that would mean I'm crazy, right?"

Still staring at the book, Soo-hoo replied flatly, "Right."

Ju-kyoung nodded awkwardly, but she wasn't ready to give up.

"Let's… take turns asking each other questions."

He said nothing. But when he finally lifted his gaze, his eyes were terrifying.

The chills that ran down her spine made all the heat leave her body instantly. Ju-kyoung shook her head quickly. "No, no… let's not."

Grabbing the drink in front of her, she gulped it down, desperate to avoid his stare.

It didn't take long for them to reach her house. She was exhausted. Carrying the helmet in her hand, she sighed as she entered her room.

Switching on the light, she placed the helmet on her small side table.

"Thank goodness he didn't find out," she muttered, throwing her bag to one side before collapsing lazily on the bed.

Then another thought hit her. "I need to change my phone number…" She sighed.

"I can't even fall asleep—just thinking about how to avoid him tomorrow."

Before she knew it, she was out cold.

The next morning, Ju-kyoung arrived at school with Soo-hoo's suit neatly folded inside a blue bag.

When she entered the classroom, Soo-hoo was already there. A few students waved at her, and she responded with a warm smile. But Soo-hoo, unlike the others, didn't even look at her, let alone greet her.

She wasn't bothered. By now, she was already used to his coldness.

Placing her bag on her seat, she walked over to him with the blue bag in her hand.

"Excuse me… your jacket."

She placed it on his desk quickly and turned to leave. But just as she reached the door, she bumped into Seo-jin.

"Are you okay?" he asked, steadying her.

Ju-kyoung didn't dare give him a second glance. "I'm fine."

She bolted out of the classroom.

Seo-jin watched her run. "What was that…" he muttered under his breath.

As he was about to step inside, flashes of that night came back to him—the girl who had stolen his helmet and run away. That face… it was her.

His eyes widened as the realization hit. Shocked, he turned toward the direction Ju-kyoung had fled.

But after a long pause, he simply sighed and walked into the classroom.
