Chapter 209 - 209 Three Possible Professions

{The three professions on display are...

[Weapons Master] A weapon is a question. You have learned many answers.

Pursue mastery over weapons themselves. Gain greater adaptability, technical insight, and proficiency across all forms of armament.

[Arsenal Savant] Every weapon possesses a magical nature. Learn it, awaken it, and make it yours.

Pursue mastery over enchanted and extraordinary weapons. Improve attunement, ability control, and synchronization with artifacts possessing powers of their own.

[Fang Arsenal] The fool carries a weapon. The predator becomes one.

Merge weapon combat with body, aura, and instinct. Abandon the distinction between armed and unarmed combat and turn every tool, limb, and opening into part of the hunt.}

All three of them sounded very impressive. Especially that last one which Chronos suspected was only available to beastfolk.

But until he had more information, he couldn't make a proper judgement.

He clicked on Weapons Master first to see what its effects were.

{Weapons Master

Profession Effects

This profession greatly increases the rate at which weapon skills are learned and improved while making it easier to identify weaknesses in an opponent's combat style.

The profession also reduces the penalty for using unfamiliar weapons and improves the handling, balance, timing, range judgement, and transitions between your own weapons.

The wielder can also adapt techniques learned with one weapon to another weapon where physically possible. At the highest level of mastery, one can wield any technique with any weapon.

Profession Ability — [Weapon Insight]

After observing or handling a weapon for a short period, the wielder begins intuitively understanding its intended fighting style, strengths, weaknesses, and unusual properties.}

He stared at the profession ability for a few minutes before he finally understood something that had always confused him.

Sariah had always seemed to advance much faster than the rest of them, but he recalled that her profession was Curse Master. There was no initiate on her profession and initiate professions didn't have profession abilities from what he knew.

More than likely she already had a more advanced profession then them which boosted her ridiculous learning speed even more than what it already was.

Putting that aside he continued learning about the next profession available to him.

{Arsenal Savant

Profession Effects

The wielder's compatibility with enchanted, runic, bloodline, and aura-based weapons is significantly improved. This makes weapon attunement faster and safer while also reducing the energy required to attune or activate weapon abilities.

The wielder has greater control over weapons who normally cause a backlash on their wielders.

Multiple weapon effects can be incorporated into the same combat sequence or weapon without interfering with one another.

Profession Ability — [Resonant Armament]

The wielder can temporarily synchronize their aura with a weapon, allowing him to draw out more of its inherent ability without permanently altering or damaging it.

At higher mastery levels the wielder can identify dormant or sealed functions within weapons.}

Well, that didn't sound too bad. As long as he had a magic weapon or artifact of some kind, he'd be able to crush most enemies with ease.

But that also meant that without a weapon he would be extremely limited in what he could do. Which didn't really fit his fighting style.

Moving on to the last one Chronos clicked it and was immediately impressed.

{Fang Arsenal

Profession Effects

The wielder's attacks with unconventional weapon parts or weapons are significantly improved. Hafts, pommels, hooks, guards, chains, and even broken weapons strike with greater power.

Transitions between armed and unarmed combat is smoother and if the wielder knows an unarmed martial discipline it is incorporated into their fighting style more naturally.

Coordination when switching weapons in the middle of an attack is increased, making it easier to combine aura techniques, bloodline abilities, and weapon strikes without interrupting the wielder's movements.

Profession Ability — [Predator's Armory]

Anything the wielder deliberately accepts as a weapon temporarily becomes a part of their combat rhythm.

A long spear can become a staff when an enemy closes distance. A broken sword can become a dagger. A hammer haft can hook a knee. And claws can fill the gap between two weapon strikes.

The Fang Arsenal stops treating "weapon technique" and "unarmed technique" as completely separate techniques.}

Now that sounded like how he fought. He would regularly switch weapons in combat most of the time. That was why he wore steel gauntlets, so that he could punch his enemy in the face, buying himself time to switch weapons.

All three professions sounded like something he would like to use. It was such a pity that he could only choose one of them.

He carefully studied each profession weighing their pros and cons.

Being a Weapons Master would let him reach even higher mastery levels and was clearly the most well-rounded of the bunch but not being able to switch weapons on the fly was a serious demerit for Chronos.

The Arsenal Savant would give him great power with every swing of his weapon. However, if he wanted that power, he would have to go out of his way to find artifacts or powerful magic weapons to carry with him.

That wasn't going to work, he already didn't have enough time for training as it was. Splitting his time even further to find weapons was something he just couldn't do right now.

On the other hand, the Fang Arsenal held a lot of potential in that it could wield any of the weapons from the previous two professions and anything else that could be considered even remotely similar to a weapon.

Just not as well as the other two. It looked like it would make more of a jack-of-all trades then a specialist.

But it also matched his current fighting style quite well and, if his suspicion was right, it was a profession exclusively for beastfolk.

There were probably some hidden secrets further down that profession line.

After carefully considering everything, he made his choice.

{Chronos has selected Fang Arsenal.

Beginning profession upgrade now...}

Suddenly a vast amount of information entered his mind and body forcing him to be frozen on the spot for the next few minutes.

After it was finished Chronos slowly came back to himself. Finding that he was already back in his room he began flexing his arms and bouncing on his feet, he felt different from before. Like he had just finished years of training that refined his instincts to a razor-sharp edge.

He picked up a letter opener from the bedside desk and instinctively knew how to wield it in just the right way to make it a lethal weapon.

Chronos smiled as he realized that this profession could be used in environments that normally lacked weapons, such as a ballroom dance.

Now he felt ready for whatever the capital would throw at him.

{Congratulations host on advancing your profession to Fang Arsenal.

As a reward you shall be granted 200 points as a starting fund.

This reward is granted to everyone that advances to an intermediate profession}

200 points? That was enough points to buy at least one intermediate grade skill and just what he needed right now.

Now he could really start working on his plans for the spear.
