Chapter 17 - Chapter 17 – White Fang's Awakening, Forest Hunt: First Blood, First Growth

The forest was still.

The winds had fallen silent. The sounds of cicadas and rustling leaves had faded. Only the soft, distant hum of spatial qi lingered in the air, dancing in lazy spirals above the cracked, bloodied form of the fallen White Boa.

Bai Tian Long stood with a complicated expression.

The Dragon Python had long since slithered away—blood dripping from its wounds but head raised high in triumph. And there, below the tree from where it had fallen, lay the White Boa's body—its milky white scales dulled, its eyes empty, but strangely serene.

It had fought valiantly, displaying a will far stronger than a mere mortal beast. Even knowing it was outmatched, it had faced the superior bloodline head-on.

"You deserve more than to fade forgotten…"

Bai Tian Long knelt beside the beast's corpse. He placed his hand gently over its head. A pale gray light flickered at his fingertips—his Split Soul Avatar ability activating for the first time.

"I'll give your body purpose again. I'll help you rise—and in turn, you'll help me rise."

As his soul thread pierced into the lifeless body of the boa, the surroundings dimmed.

Then came the pain.

A sharp, tearing pain—not of flesh, but of spirit. His soul thread tangled with the remnants of the boa's dying will. The fractured soul fragments—faint whispers of instinct and memory—fought against the intrusion, but it was too late. His split soul embraced the scattered remnants, not devouring them but fusing—melding into something new.

A spark of strange light burst from the corpse's chest.

A new soul signature was born. Not beast. Not human. Something in-between. Something... foreign.

The boa's wounds shimmered. Scales regrew. Blood receded. A low hum echoed through the forest as the beast's body pulsed with spiritual rebirth.

The system chimed.

Bai Tian Long's eyes widened as he observed White Fang open its pale, slit-pupil eyes for the first time.

The resurrected boa slithered weakly toward him, then paused—bowing its head as if recognizing its master.

"White Fang… You really were born from both of us," he muttered. "A new life."

There was no hostility, only calm obedience and… strange curiosity.

It wasn't just a beast anymore. It was a true avatar, one born of soul and blood, one that now carried the will to evolve and fight by his side.

Another system message popped up in his mind.

---

To evolve into a Demon Servant Beast, the following is required:

100 Evolution Points (EP)

🔸 One complete mortal beast corpse (fully devoured)

🔸 One 1st-order demon beast corpse

🔸 One 1st-order demon beast bloodline sample or blood essence

🔸 One spiritual object of 1st order grade

Current Evolution Points: 0/100

---

Bai Tian Long nodded solemnly as he read the details. The path was difficult, but White Fang had already been given a second chance. He wouldn't let it go to waste.

"Let's grow strong together."

White Fang blinked once, then turned to look out toward the horizon—as if it understood.

---

The Next Morning

The sky had barely begun to brighten when Bai Tian Long stepped into his courtyard once again, summoning Little Yan.

The lion cub padded forward with light steps, yawning and flicking his fiery mane. Compared to just a week ago, he had grown slightly bulkier. His eyes were sharper, and his claws gleamed faintly in the dawn.

"Little Yan," Bai Tian Long said gently. "Meet

Tour new freind"

He motioned to the side, where White Fang uncoiled from the shadows, its pale body sleek and silent. The cub blinked, staring curiously at the white boa.

"I need you to take care of him. Help him hunt small prey—rabbits, snakes, anything you can find in the wild. He's still learning, and you're already stronger than most wild cats or even dogs."

Little Yan gave a small, confident growl in response.

"Good."

He turned toward the forest. "I'll be focusing on controlling White Fang more directly from now on. While he has autonomous ability, without my control, he's like a child—maybe two or three years old in terms of instinct."

White Fang raised its head slowly, tongue flicking.

"Eventually, I'll need to send him across seas, explore far lands. For that, I must master using him directly."

Little Yan circled around the snake once, then sat down with a low rumble, accepting the task.

"If anything happens, I'll know. Our bond is real now."

With a final nod, Bai Tian Long retreated, ready to begin the next chapter of his training—while his partners, a lion cub and a strange hybrid boa, began their journey into the wilds.

---

Deep within the quiet edge of the Bai family's island forest, White Fang slithered silently through the underbrush. His scales, pure as bleached jade, rippled with faint light. In his mind pulsed a single instinct: devour… evolve.

Ahead, his first prey—a dusky ground snake—slid through dead leaves.

With barely a whisper, White Fang struck. His fangs plunged in, venom working instantly. The snake went limp.

He swallowed the creature whole, the lingering taste bitter, earthy—and strangely energizing.

+1 Evolution Point. [Total: 1/100]

He moved on.

The next was a lean tree snake, perched on a low branch, flicking its tongue toward a lizard.

White Fang launched himself upward with unnatural speed for his size. His jaws caught the snake mid-motion. He wrapped around it, coiled tight, and dragged it down into the underbrush before consuming it.

+1 Evolution Point. [Total: 2/100]

The third snake was a sleek blue racer slithering through a streambed. It saw him. It ran.

But White Fang was faster. Slipping into the water, using the agility of his streamlined body, he darted forward like a spear and clamped down hard.

Moments later, the racer was gone.

+1 Evolution Point. [Total: 3/100]

His body twitched. His muscles stirred, faintly stronger. His scales shimmered subtly, like mist kissed by starlight. A growth deeper than instinct was awakening.

Then came the fourth.

This one—a thick black serpent with shimmering spots—lunged from a bush, fangs bared, tail coiled to strike.

White Fang coiled too… but he was just a heartbeat late.

From the side, a tiny roar echoed.

Little Yan pounced from a nearby rock, clawing down the attacking serpent with sharp precision. He wrestled it to the ground, pinning it beneath his paws, but then looked over his shoulder.

"It's yours," the cub gestured simply.

White Fang slid forward.

Without hesitation, he opened his jaws and devoured the snake entirely.

+1 Evolution Point. [Total: 4/100]

A rumble stirred deep within his gut. His spine arched. His muscles throbbed slightly. His body wasn't just alive—it was becoming.

Little Yan blinked.

"He's... bigger? And heavier too?"

The cub tilted his head, stepping back slightly as White Fang curled up, slowly digesting the last of the meal. The change wasn't obvious to all eyes, but to one like Little Yan—whose instincts traced back to Monarch lineage—it was unmistakable.

White Fang had started to grow.

And this… was only the beginning.
