IVAN'S POV
I watched the guards put out the last of the fire on the residential buildings that surrounded the pack square.
They were mostly old structures dating back to the earlier days of Ash Creek, housing our lower-ranked wolves.
Honored for their ancient makings, they had survived through time and war, standing alongside the giant statue of the first Alpha of Ash Creek in the square.
Which was why it made absolutely no sense that anyone would trigger a fire right in the middle of a pack event—one that had the liability of hurting the common wolves.
It was barbaric.
Nonetheless, Francis and I immediately had the situation under control, deploying guards who were quick to act and save those trapped within the buildings.
I hated to imagine what might have happened tonight if I hadn't been present.
It left a bitter taste in my mouth.
