The crowd gasped collectively as Lyra and Chasing Wind soared over the high railing. Time seemed to slow as horse and rider hung suspended in midair, silhouetted against the morning sky. Onlookers held their breath, anticipating a horrific crash.
Instead, they landed with precision on the other side. Chasing Wind's hooves hit the ground with surprising grace, barely breaking stride as they took off after Raphael's runaway horse.
"She's insane!" someone shouted from the gathered spectators.
Percival stood frozen at the fence line, his knuckles white against the railing. His face remained expressionless, but his eyes never left Lyra's form as she disappeared into the distance.
Orla sidled up beside him, her voice dripping with false concern. "Such a shame if something happens to her. So reckless, that one."
Percival didn't bother to look at her. "If anything happens to my wife, I'll hold your entire family personally responsible."
