After finishing their tea, Haneul and Sakumo went to their separate tents. A moment later, Tsunade came into Haneul's tent. "Master," he said, noticing her damp hair.
"Mhm," she sat down and took out a towel.
"I have a better way," he said, getting up. He held out his hands, and fire-nature chakra turned them into a pair of heating lamps.
"When did you learn Fire Style?" she asked, surprised.
"I learned it from Shisui," he said casually.
"I've never seen anyone learn so many different things... no, this is the second time," she said, then asked, "Do you know who the first was?"
"Lord Hokage," he replied after a moment's thought.
"That's right," she smiled. "It feels like you'd be a better fit as the old man's student."
"So... should I leave?" he asked, tilting his head.
"No way," she said righteously. "If you leave, who will cook for me?"
"So you didn't want an apprentice, you wanted a chef?" he retorted.
"You guessed it, you little brat," she finally couldn't hold it in and burst out laughing.
After her hair was dry, he couldn't resist patting her head. She thanked him, and they both went to sleep.
Three days later, they finally arrived in the Land of Demons. "The rendezvous point is the priestess's shrine," Tsunade said. "We'll be working with ninja from other villages this time, so try to avoid conflict."
Half an hour later, they saw the shrine in a valley. At the entrance, they were stopped by samurai guards. "We are ninja from the Leaf Village, here by invitation," Tsunade said, showing the mission scroll.
"Please, follow me," the samurai said, leading them inside.
"Hey! Thief!" As Haneul was walking up the steps, he heard a familiar voice. He turned and saw a beautiful young girl, her delicate face contorted with anger.
"First, my name is not 'hey'," Haneul said, looking at Mei Terumi. "Second, I am not a thief."
"You stole my wallet! How are you not a thief?" she demanded.
"That wasn't stealing, it was my spoils of war," he corrected. "You lost to me. Isn't it normal for me to take your wallet?"
"I didn't lose!" she gritted out. "If your master hadn't interfered, you would have been the one to lose!"
"Is that so?" he smiled. "Then wait. After I've seen the priestess, I'll come and defeat you."
"You bastard!" she trembled with rage.
"Is that Haneul?" A young man appeared behind her. "It seems the Leaf Village is taking this seriously, sending both Sakumo Hatake and Tsunade."
"Ao-senpai," Mei said, taking a deep breath. "It's him."
The man was Ao, her future guard when she became Mizukage. "Don't cause too much trouble during the mission," he advised.
"I know," she said, clenching her fists. "A friendly spar is fine. The Leaf won't say anything."
Inside the main hall, the priestess Miko greeted them. "Welcome, guests from Konoha." She explained the situation: the demon Mōryō had been released by a follower named Yomi. "I don't know where Mōryō is now, but to be truly free, it must kill me." She explained that once Mōryō appeared, they would need to escort her to the Land of Swamps, where there was a seal to imprison its body, while its soul would be sealed back here in the Land of Demons.
After the meeting, they left the main hall. Mei was waiting for them at the door.
"Let's spar," she said coldly.
"Let's do it here, then," he said, walking down the steps to the large plaza in front of the shrine.
"Mei Terumi and Zabuza Momochi are the most famous geniuses of the Hidden Mist right now," Sakumo said, stopping to watch. "I wonder how skilled they are." Tsunade was also curious.
"Begin!" Mei said seriously. Water Style: Hidden Mist Jutsu! A thick fog instantly concealed her body. Her plan was to negate his speed advantage by taking away his sight. Haneul raised an eyebrow. He didn't have the Byakugan, so the thick mist was indeed troublesome.
A water dragon suddenly shot out of the mist. Haneul used his Body Flicker and dashed into the fog. He saw Mei's surprised expression and slashed at her, but his sword passed through a pool of water. It was a water clone. The next moment, she appeared silently behind him, a sharp blade of water in her hand. Clang! He turned and blocked it with his own sword.
"What?" she was shocked. "How did you know?"
"Because you're clumsy," he said, leaning in close. An attack from behind was the most obvious.
"You bastard!" she cursed.
"It's not nice to swear," he said, releasing his sword and instantly forming hand seals. Demonic Illusion: Hell Viewing Technique! She was caught instantly, her face filled with terror as she relived the moment of her parents' death.
Just as he was about to end the spar, a water whip wrapped around his body. The Mei in front of him vanished with a poof. It was a shadow clone. "Hmph, who's clumsy now?" the real Mei said, laughing.
"You really are clumsy," he replied, and a brilliant lightning flashed through the water whip. Water conducts electricity. Almost instantly, Mei was covered in lightning, her hair standing on end, her body paralyzed.
