The next day.
Haneul arrived at Tsunade's house early. Unsurprisingly, she wasn't up. He opened the door, walked into the living room, and knocked on her bedroom door. A moment later, it opened. Tsunade stood there with her eyes closed, as if sleepwalking. Haneul looked up and his eyes nearly popped out. Her pajamas were askew, having slipped off one shoulder, creating a magnificent view.
"Master," he said, turning away. "Get dressed. I'll make breakfast."
"Mhm," she mumbled. A few seconds later, she yawned and opened her eyes, then noticed her exposed skin. Did that little brat see anything? "Whatever, he's just a kid," she thought, unconcerned.
A short while later, the two of them were sitting at the dining table. "Where are we meeting Senior Minato?" Haneul asked.
"Right here," Tsunade said, taking out a kunai. "Minato will appear at eight o'clock."
"Is this a Flying Thunder God kunai?" Haneul examined it. It had the special seal and four characters that read "Sword of Shinobi Love."
"Mhm," Tsunade nodded. "Minato can instantly teleport to any place marked with the seal, within his chakra limits, of course."
"So convenient," he marveled.
"It's convenient, but the learning difficulty is too high. Only two people in the entire village know it," she said, shaking her head. "It's almost eight. Let's eat."
At exactly eight o'clock, the space in the living room distorted, and Minato Namikaze appeared. He was dressed in a gray uniform and flak jacket, his face hidden by a mask.
"Lady Tsunade," he greeted with a smile. "And Haneul, good morning."
"What's with the mask? Take it off," Tsunade said.
"Anbu are not allowed to remove their masks during a mission. It's the rules," Minato refused.
A true champion of love doesn't take off his mask, Haneul thought, remembering the movie.
The three of them set off. The journey to the Land of Wind was marked by a dramatic change in scenery: howling winds, yellow sand, and oppressive heat. The environment was harsh. Minato gave him a cloak to protect him from the dust.
The next morning, they finally arrived at their destination. "Magnificent," Minato said, looking at the massive structures in the distance.
"Truly incredible," Tsunade agreed. A city of impossibly tall, slender towers rose from the desolate desert, a breathtaking sight.
"According to Anbu intelligence, Roran didn't look like this before. It was rebuilt by the new minister, Anrokuzan," Minato explained.
"It seems this Minister Anrokuzan is quite capable," Tsunade said. "Do we go find him directly?"
"Our mission has two objectives: the Queen of Roran, and the legendary Dragon Vein," Minato said. "We need to expose Anrokuzan's true face to the queen, and then seal the Dragon Vein."
"Then let's split up," Tsunade suggested. "You find the Dragon Vein, and Haneul and I will find the queen."
They entered Roran. Minato quickly disappeared into the cluster of buildings. "Roran is huge. Finding someone will be difficult," Tsunade said. "I'm giving you a mission. Use a genjutsu to find out the queen's location. Remember, don't cause a commotion."
"Okay," Haneul said. He hid his presence and entered the city. The streets were eerily empty. He soon realized why. In the original story, Naruto had arrived during the new queen Sarra's coronation ceremony. He headed towards the city center and soon heard the sound of cheering. He saw the crowd and Queen Sarra on a high tower.
Just then, a puppet behind Sarra suddenly pushed her. She lost her balance and fell. Haneul was about to intervene when he saw a black shadow shoot out and catch her. He quickly followed.
"Hey there, little boy. Haven't we met somewhere before?" Haneul had just arrived in front of a building when he heard a pleasant voice. He turned his head and froze. The one who had saved Sarra was not Naruto, but a stunningly beautiful young woman—Kurenai Yuhi. She wore a green Jonin flak jacket, her long black hair tied in a ponytail.
"We've definitely met," the adult Kurenai said, frowning. Haneul gave her a very familiar feeling.
"Hey! Who are you people?" Sarra demanded.
"Your Majesty," Haneul said, glancing at Kurenai. "We are from the Hidden Leaf Village, here to protect you."
"You're from the Leaf too?" Kurenai's eyes lit up. "Who's your squad leader?"
"Tsunade," Haneul said after a moment's thought.
"Lady Hokage?" Kurenai's expression suddenly turned grim. "You're lying. Lady Hokage couldn't possibly be here, and she only has one student." She had been sent on this mission by Hokage Tsunade to pursue Mukade and reinforce the Dragon Vein's seal.
Haneul raised an eyebrow. So Tsunade still became Hokage?
"I'm not lying," he said, shaking his head. "Where's your teammate?"
"We got separated. I don't know where he is," she said. "But he's very strong, so there's no need to worry." For some reason, she instinctively believed the little boy before her.
"Who is he?" Haneul already had a feeling.
"He's Lady Hokage's student, Haneul," she said, then a look of realization dawned on her. "Oh! I know why you look so familiar! You look just like Haneul did when he was a kid!"
Haneul's lip twitched. What is this situation? His existence had indeed changed the future. Instead of Team Yamato, the future had sent Team Haneul.
