Chapter 82 - Chapter 84: A New Mission, the Roran Kingdom

Early morning.

Tsunade was suddenly jolted awake. She felt the whole bed shaking. "An earthquake?" she rubbed her eyes and sat up. Just then, the shaking stopped. She raised an eyebrow. It didn't feel like an earthquake, more like someone was using Monstrous Strength.

With that thought, she immediately got out of bed and looked out the window. On the flat ground not far away, a deep crater had appeared, with cracks spreading out like a spiderweb.

"That little brat really learned Monstrous Strength in just a year," Tsunade murmured, watching Haneul's figure. No one would believe that a nine-year-old child had learned her signature technique.

"Master!" Haneul turned and waved at her. It had been over half a year since their trip to the Fire Capital. He had finally mastered Monstrous Strength.

[A-Rank Ninjutsu Trait: Monstrous Strength]

Activation Condition: Successfully execute the technique.

Effect: The technique automatically reaches 'Proficient' level.

Besides Monstrous Strength, he had also acquired four new traits: C-Rank 'Wind Style Chunin,' 'Water Style Chunin,' and 'Swordsmanship Chunin.' These three were similar to his previous 'Medical Chunin,' all providing a 50% boost to their respective abilities and upgrading to Special Jonin upon reaching 'Mastered' proficiency.

The last one was the C-Rank 'Lightning Release Chakra Activation.' After over a year, he had finally reached the beginner level.

[C-Rank Ninjutsu Trait: Lightning Release Chakra Activation]

Activation Condition: Achieve beginner level in Lightning Release Chakra Activation.

Effect: Body strength (including defense, attack, and speed) is increased by 50% from its base rate.

Note: Adding C-Rank 'Lightning Style Chunin' and C-Rank 'Taijutsu Chunin' can synthesize the B-Rank Trait: Body of Lightning Release.

It had to be said, the long effort was worth it. A comprehensive boost to all three attributes was amazing. In the original story, the Fourth Raikage's Lightning Release Chakra Mode and his strongest Lightning Release Armor made him as fast as Minato Namikaze, even allowing him to physically dodge Amaterasu, which was absurd. Of course, besides his speed, his defense and attack were also astonishing. He had once cut off the horn of the Eight-Tails with a single chop. It was no wonder he was the Supreme Commander of the Allied Shinobi Forces in the Fourth Great Ninja War.

Haneul stroked his chin. 'Lightning Style Chunin' and 'Taijutsu Chunin' weren't difficult to obtain; it was just a matter of time. He wondered what the effect of the B-Rank 'Body of Lightning Release' would be.

"Not bad," Tsunade said, walking over, not stingy with her praise. "As expected of my student." "Master, are you praising yourself?" Haneul retorted. "Without my teaching, how could you have learned Monstrous Strength?" she asked with a smile. "Who gets the most credit?" "You do, Master," Haneul said meekly. "That's more like it," she nodded in satisfaction. "When does your school break start?" "The day after tomorrow," he explained. "These two days are the third-year final exams. Today is theory, tomorrow is practical." "Alright," Tsunade said with a light laugh. "You can't be idle for these two months of vacation. We're going out on a mission." "Okay," Haneul had no objections. Now that he had learned Monstrous Strength, he might even be able to take down a Jonin with a surprise attack. A head-on fight would be difficult, though. The Jonin of the Five Great Villages were still of high caliber.

"Go take your exam," Tsunade said, waving her hand. "I'll go to the Mission Assignment Desk and see if there are any suitable missions." "Master, I want to learn Lightning Style," he suddenly remembered. Tsunade frowned. She knew he had Lightning and Fire affinities, but he was ultimately a medical ninja. That time would be better spent improving his proficiency in medical ninjutsu. But then she remembered his excellent performance at the hospital. His proficiency in the medical jutsu he had learned was astounding. The only ones left for him to learn were A-Rank and S-Rank, the forbidden techniques, which were still a bit too early for him, not because of talent, but because of his body's limitations. He needed another two years. "Alright," Tsunade agreed. "I'll ask the old man for some lightning ninjutsu scrolls while I'm at it."

In Konoha, you couldn't just learn any jutsu you wanted. There were only three ways: from a teacher, from your clan or parents, or as a reward from the Hokage. Learning or teaching jutsu privately was punishable. Of course, with his status as Tsunade's student, it didn't matter. He could learn anything besides the forbidden techniques.

After breakfast, Haneul went to school, and Tsunade went to the Hokage Building. The Mission Assignment Desk was on the second floor. As soon as she entered, she saw a familiar figure.

"Lady Tsunade," Minato Namikaze hurried over to greet her. "Are you accepting a mission?" she asked with a nod. "Mhm," Minato said, scratching his head. "Lord Hokage just gave me a troublesome one." "With great power comes great responsibility," Tsunade couldn't help but smile. If she were Hokage, she wouldn't let a ninja with the Flying Thunder God Technique go to waste either. It was just too convenient. "Are you here for a mission too, Lady Tsunade?" Minato's eyes suddenly lit up. "Yes," Tsunade said, noticing his expression and waving her hand. "I'm training Haneul. Your mission is too difficult and not suitable." "No, this one is perfect!" Minato said with a smile. "Why don't you take a look?" "Is that so?" Tsunade reached out and took the mission scroll. "I was originally planning to team up with two Jonin and one Chunin," Minato said with a smile. "If you and Haneul join, it would be just right." "The Roran Kingdom in the Land of Wind?" Tsunade said, surprised as she read the scroll. "Legend has it that there is a Dragon Vein with endless energy beneath the Roran Kingdom," Minato explained. "According to intelligence from the Anbu, the minister of Roran, Anrokuzan, wants to use the Dragon Vein to create a terrifying weapon and attempt to unify the ninja world." "Unify the ninja world?" Tsunade snorted. "He sure can dream." "What do you think of this mission, Lady Tsunade?" Minato asked. "I'll take it," she said after a moment's thought. "I'll go with you." "With you here, Lady Tsunade, it will be much easier," Minato said, relieved. "It shouldn't take too much time." "Why?" Tsunade asked, handing the scroll back. "Want to get back to Kushina early?" Minato, his thoughts exposed, gave an embarrassed smile. "How about we leave the day after tomorrow?" Tsunade explained. "These two days are the final exams." "No problem," Minato agreed immediately.

"See you then," Tsunade said, heading upstairs. She pushed open the door to the Hokage's office and walked in. Hiruzen was startled and quickly hid the copy of Kuroinu he was reading. "What are you reading?" Tsunade asked, her eyes narrowed. "Why is your face so red?" "Is it?" Hiruzen coughed, trying to look serious. "It's been hot lately." "It's spring," Tsunade said with a cold smile. A drop of cold sweat trickled down Hiruzen's forehead. If she found out about Kuroinu, his reputation would be ruined for life. He quickly changed the subject. "What can I do for you? Are you here for a mission?" "I've already accepted one. I'm going to Roran with Minato," Tsunade said, not pressing the issue. "I need some lightning ninjutsu scrolls for Haneul." "Haneul?" Hiruzen was taken aback. "Does he still have the energy to learn Lightning Style?" As a genius of the new generation and Tsunade's student, he naturally kept a close eye on him. As far as he knew, he had already learned kenjutsu, genjutsu, and medical ninjutsu. For an ordinary ninja, learning one was the limit. He had learned three, and now he wanted to learn another? "Geniuses cannot be measured by common sense," Tsunade said with a light laugh. "He has already learned Monstrous Strength." "What?" Hiruzen was completely shocked. "He is my student, after all," Tsunade said proudly, lifting her chin. "You've certainly taken on a fine student," Hiruzen agreed. "His achievements will be no less than Minato's." The Flying Thunder God was important, but an excellent medical ninja was just as valuable. "Haru," Hiruzen called out. A masked Anbu appeared. "Go and get three basic lightning ninjutsu scrolls." "Yes," Haru turned and left. "Three?" Tsunade was not satisfied. "Old man, can't you be a little more generous?" "Come back for more after he's learned these," Hiruzen explained. "It's not safe to take so many at once." "Fine," Tsunade reluctantly agreed. After getting the scrolls, she left.

Afternoon.

The theory exam was over. Haneul said goodbye to his friends and went to Tsunade's house. "New mission," she said, sitting on the sofa and casually tossing him a scroll.

He caught it and opened it. Roran? He was shocked. This was the story from the Naruto movie, The Lost Tower. In the original story, it was a mission that Yamato, Naruto, Sakura, and Sai undertook after Sasuke's defection. They pursued a ninja named Mukade to Roran and were sent back in time by an explosion of the Dragon Vein's power, amplified by a Flying Thunder God seal left by Minato. And that past was the present time Haneul was in now.

In other words, he was about to meet the future Naruto and his team.
