Chapter 2 - System

Accepting the reality, Jay then began to think about what he should do with his new life.

What Jay didn't expect was that just as he was feeling a little confused, a strange, seemingly cold voice sounded in his head.

[ Ding… congratulations on getting the Copy system]

[ Does the Host choose to install the system?]

The voice immediately startled the confused Jay.

"Oh… Standard equipment for an explorer, this is truly a great thing… Install the system immediately…" Jay excitedly answered the system's question.

[ Installation successful…]

[ Congratulations on getting the beginner's gift]

[ Would the Host like to open the beginner's gift?]

Once again, the system informed Jay.

" Of course, open it! Why hesitate!!" Jay replied enthusiastically.

[ Congratulations on getting 1 recovery pill]

[ Congratulations on getting 10 M⁴ portable space]

[ Congratulations on getting 1 Copy opportunity]

Then the system stopped.

"What? Is that all? Is this too little?" Jay asked doubtfully.

At first, he thought the system would give him a lot of rewards, as a beginner's gift usually brings him a lot of good things.

But then, after three rewards, the system stopped giving any further notifications.

"Okay... I should know how to be grateful. System, please explain the uses of each reward." Jay, realizing he had been too greedy, immediately stopped complaining and began searching for more information about the rewards he had received.

[Recovery Pill: A pill that has the ability to restore the body to its peak condition, with the added benefit of increased endurance and physical strength.]

[Portable Space: An empty space provided by the system for storing various items. It has a fixed time dimension. In addition, only inanimate objects can be placed in the portable space for now.]

[Copy Opportunity: A skill granted by the system to the host, allowing it to copy the skills of a target human.]

The system was explained at length to Jay.

"Oh...this is all good stuff...now it's time to use the recovery pill," Jay said excitedly to himself.

He felt that the teenager's body wasn't looking good, and he was weak and malnourished, so he needed to improve it.

"System extract recovery pill," Jay commanded the system.

Soon, a pill appeared in Jay's hand. It was the size of a regular pill, blue in color, and had a very pleasant aroma.

"It smells great! This must be a good product!" Jay praised the recovery pill without hesitation and swallowed it.

And soon, a warm feeling filled Jay's entire body, and it began to flood every cell in his body, making him feel like he was in a refreshing hot spring.

Soon, the feeling of weakness and malnutrition he had felt earlier was suddenly swept away and replaced by a feeling of strength and energy.

"Very good...my strength has increased tremendously. I'm sure with this kind of strength, I can defeat several grown men," Jay said with an indescribable feeling.

"Okay, now let's take a look at the portable space," Jay began to concentrate. He then felt a dark, lightless, empty space appear in his mind, contemplating its purpose.

Then Jay began to move the blanket that was currently covering him, and before long, it disappeared.

Amazed by this, Jay then tried to place other items in the room.

Finally, he realized that he could place various items around him as long as they were within a 5-meter range of him.

Furthermore, he couldn't place them automatically.

Satisfied, Jay then turned his attention to the Copy skill.

From the system's explanation, Jay learned that this skill could copy the abilities of others.

In other words, he could acquire the abilities of others without doing anything.

"System, is there a limit to the number of times I can copy someone else's skill?" Jay asked the system.

[There's no limit, just that the host has one chance once a week to copy someone else's skill]

"So in other words, I can get as many skills as possible by copying," Jay concluded excitedly, realizing that this was a very rare opportunity for him.

Having accepted all of this, Jay calmed his heart and prepared to face his new family.

Jay, in his previous life, also had a complete family, so this time, reborn with a complete family, he quickly adjusted his thoughts and feelings.

"Time to meet them." Deciding to get up from his bed, Jay saw that his previously thin and pale body had now become strong and looked quite full.

Furthermore, from his memories, the 15-year-old's height had increased from just under 160 cm to nearly 170 cm.

This was considered quite tall in the village. It should be noted that due to the limited availability of various food supplies, each village member was unable to fully meet their food needs.

Furthermore, from Jay's memories, after harvesting their crops, they were also required to submit approximately 40% of their winnings to the current government.

Exiting the room, a brighter view immediately greeted Jay. In front of him was a very simple living room.

Four pairs of wooden chairs and a small table sat right in the center of the living room. There were no other decorations on the walls. Only after leaving did Jay realize that the floor in his house had been leveled with earthenware.

This made it even clearer for Jay to imagine the current state of his new family.

While he was still gazing at the simple living room, a small figure entered the house from outside.

The cute little figure was holding a stalk of wild greens in its hand, and when it looked at Jay, its face was filled with disbelief.

But then its face quickly turned into a happy smile.

"Big brother...you're awake!" Nining cried out in a sweet voice and quickly threw herself onto Jay.

Seeing his cute little sister, Jay felt a surge of joy and quickly opened his arms to hug Nining.

"Big brother...are you okay?" Nining asked with a worried expression.

"Of course I'm fine, How could I not be? Look, big brother is so strong," Jay replied with a smile, showing off his now quite strong arm muscles.

"Hmm... that's right... big brother's muscles are hard," Nining replied with a cute expression as she held his arm muscles with her small hands.

However, Jay's heart immediately sank. He noticed that Nining's weight was quite light for a six-year-old, and her hair looked split and slightly yellow.

From these signs, Jay realized that Nining was also malnourished.

"Where are Mom and Dad?" Jay asked, holding Nining.

"Dad went to the fields to farm, mom is gathering grass for the village's livestock, and Nining is at home looking after big brother," Nining explained.

Hearing this, a memory once again flooded Jay's mind. From his memories, Jay realized the system throughout the village and other regions under their government.

We are currently in a transitional period, where all villages are required to submit their agricultural produce to the government.

As for how this is achieved, the government hasn't set many regulations; they will simply conduct data collection and direct inspections at the end of the harvest.

They will calculate the area of land in each village, the crops they grow, and the number of villagers living there.

From there, the harvest yield that must be submitted will be determined.

As an additional note, no one owns the land privately; in other words, all agricultural land is owned by the state. Farmers are tenants who must submit 40% of their harvest to the state.

This creates a centralized work system for all villages, where every village member works to earn points, which they can then exchange for food and other necessities.

In addition to working to redeem points, various strategic and valuable items require tickets to redeem them in addition to money. In other words, items like staple and commercial foods, clothing and fabric, fuel and coal, and various other items require tickets.

Fortunately, there are several materials and items that also require tickets.
