"Wait," Noa stopped them. "The last guy on your team tried to kill him?"
It sounded like Kael was targeted as well.
Though it made sense for the weaker boy to be selected as the alliance's next victim, Noa hadn't thought that far ahead.
Hearing his question, both Kael and Lior nodded.
Marlo, on the other hand, shook his head in frustration. "That guy was all smiles the entire time. He was acting friendly and even shared most of the loot with us. But as we were about to open the last chest, he tried to backstab Kael."
His voice was loud.
Loud enough for the teacher and students to hear him.
They gasped in surprise.
An attack from a student wasn't totally unheard of, but listening to this actual discussion, they didn't know what to think.
Yes, some doubted Marlo's claim.
Perhaps even most of them thought that he could have just made up the story and killed the team member himself.
Still, there was no proof.
No one could prove otherwise, sending the crowd into chaos.
