"Hey, you're back."
Lana looked away from Alexander before he could catch her staring for even a second longer. She didn't want to look at him. or even talk to him.
"Yes," she nodded and resumed walking in the direction of her room. "I am."
She could feel his eyes on her but it didn't stop her from walking. She counted her steps, taking her time to get as far away from him as possible.
"Did you go to college?" his voice interrupted her again. "Oh. Right. You're on your break, right?"
"Mhm, yeah," her steps slowed down subconsciously. "Yeah, we're on our break."
"You went out to meet some friends then?" he spoke up again. "Andrew? Is he still mad at you?"
She immediately paused her steps, suddenly conflicted. She couldn't move further and at the same time couldn't turn to face him. she just remained there, frozen.
"Is he?" she heard him speak up again. "Is he still yet to figure out how much you actually care about him?"
