Jax sat next to Zela, both of them still with trembling hands after the collapse of the resurrection. The silence between them was heavy with unspoken words, shared guilt, and pain.
"Zela…" Jax said quietly. "I'm sorry… I'm so sorry for bringing her back. I shouldn't… I shouldn't have forced her to live through that torment."
Zela lowered her head, tears falling onto her trembling hands. "I… I too…" she whispered. "The first time… when she died… I didn't stop her. I was the one who let her go to find you. If I had done something… if I had been there… maybe… maybe she wouldn't have suffered like that."
Jax gently took her arm, trying to offer some comfort even though he felt broken himself. "No… you can't blame yourself for that. I… I fail too. I didn't take care of her enough. If I had been more attentive, if I had been stronger… she wouldn't have had to go through any of this."
