-CHAPTER 15-

-FUSHIGURO MEGUMI-

Yasohachi Bridge was a large stone commercial bridge in the mountains of Koinokuchi Canyons. It connects two forested roads and allows vehicles to cross over a deep fall including a small river.

It was just noon and the bridge and its adjacent area was as lively as a bridge in the middle of nowhere would be. Not much.

The bridge was an infamous suicide spot. In fact, the locals had even begun to think of it as haunted. But of course, the younger populations rather than stay away from the spot decided to turn it into a reckless test of courage by bungee jumping off of it late at night. Unknowingly giving birth to an Imaginary Curse Spirit.

Though that was a long time ago, nowadays it is used as a normal bridge. Yet few students did try to do the test of courage again in the last few years.

And one of them was Tsumiki.

I knew that exorcising this curse wouldn't wake up Tsumiki but… I can't just let go of the threat it may bring to her life. No matter how small it was.

I looked around the area before nodding to myself and moving on. The curse would not show itself that easily.

The area under the bridge was easily accessible, with there being a forest with dense trees reflecting the entire canyon.

I walked around the bridge until I entered the forest and back down towards the river, where the curse resided in its own incomplete domain.

As Sukuna hasn't incarnated yet, the finger inside the Curse's stomach should still be inactive. So I'm not going to fight a Cursed Womb: Finger Bearer. While that was disappointing in and of itself, it was also a good thing as the curse wasn't going to be coming after Tsumiki any time soon.

But better to be safe than sorry. Standing across from the river at the bottom of the canyon, I took a step forward and-

Crossing a river or any other border, acts that signify crossing over to the afterlife. Carry important meaning in Jujutsu.

-Instantly a cave-like area materialized in front of me. With multiple crater-like holes all over its surface, and weird bone-like pillars connecting the floor to the roof. And my target… was just laughing at me as it exited from a hole in the ceiling.

It was a pretty small and weak looking curse- just as it had been in the anime, with orange colored skin, round black holes for his eyes, nose less and a sick grin as it laughed it's annoying laughter. It quickly moved through the holes like a whack-a-mole. It honestly looks like a mole too.

But my focus was not on it, rather it was focused on-

Ah! There it is! A curious look appeared on my face as I inspected it. Up there, on the ceiling in the centre of this whole incomplete domain was a weird plant like growth, leaking some kind of liquid. It looked like a flower that had yet to blossom. So that's the Finger Bearer.

You would think that I would feel a little fearful after what happened with the canon-Megumi.

-But I wasn't. I had decided to just live to my full potential and for my loved ones, damn the consequences. So what if it's a Sukuna Finger? It wouldn't be able to do anything to me until it's true master awakens in a year.

Hopefully, I would have tamed Mahoraga and mastered my Technique by then.

"Let's just get this over with." I said and summoned. "[Rabbit Escape]" "[Divine Dogs]"

"KEKEKEKEKEKE!"

""HOWLL!""

Once again keeping the original Rabbit in my shadow, I shouted. "Hunt the orange one down boys!"

""Bark!"" "KEKEKEKE!"

The Divine Dogs can easily track the curse down as the swarm of Rabbit Escapes try to catch and exorcise it with their overwhelming numbers and sharp teeths.

-Now that that was dealt with, let's deal with the other one. As the other one was still merely sleeping, because of Sukuna not having Incarnated yet, it should be easy pickings.

I pointed my one hand at the cursed plant, and swiped with my fingers.

Swish!

I turned back, now that everything was done and over with… or so I had thought.

~DANGER!~

"BARK!"

Something screamed in my mind as my eyes widened and I instinctively dodged.

BAM! Something went flying despite that, as I turned to look at who had attacked me I was once again forced to confront the consequences of my overconfidence.

Where I had just been standing was the Finger Bearer Curse, smiling in a mocking way as it held Shiro, the White Divine Dog- who had wanted to protect me from the curse's attack. Now he was held helpless as the Special-Grade Curse's hand was going through the Shikigami's neck.

"NO!" I could feel it. That Shiro was about to die. I sprinted forward in a reckless charge, while also unsummoning the Shikigami-

But before I could successfully do so… the Finger Bearer fired a sick grin at me before it charged its hand with its yellow CE, and ripped out its hand.

CRUNCH!

Shiro looked at me one last time, understanding in his eyes before his head expanded… and exploded in my face.

BOOM!

I come to a stop as I look down at the headless and disintegrating corpse of one of my first Shikigami ever… Both the personas inside me were screaming for blood as I stood there emotionless.

His death was my fault… I was too careless… too arrogant.

But the Finger Bearer wasn't going to give me time to… think I guess. Because it used a ball of CE and spread it out like an arrow as it fired it at me.

Mindlessly. I dodged watching as Kuro, The Black Divine Dog finally arrived by his brother's side after having exorcised the mole curse. Seeing that I finally decided to do something, I looked at the Finger Bearer, no emotions in my eyes, my CE flaring like an inferno and spreading immense pressure throughout the fake cave as I merely ordered. "Stop."

All of the rabbits arrived too and came to stop behind me, also opening up their mouths as they threatened the curses. "KEKEKEKE!"

By looking at the curses, one would almost think that I had gotten the Inumaki Cursed Speech but that was not the case. It was just intimidation after all.

Having just been born and feeling the almost equal terms of power that we had, plus the backdrop of the terrifying Rabbits, stopped the curse for a few moments. I am a certified first grade sorcerer level now, I guess.

I walked towards the Black Divine Dog and kneeled, hugging the doggo as he whined in sadness. "It is alright Kuro, Shiro isn't dead." I said feeling the essence of Shiro the White Divine Dog now available in my Innate Technique, passing it onto Kuro as the Totality began.

It would take 2 weeks for Kuro to successfully merge and transform into the Totality of both the brothers… That is too long for my tastes. Since this Finger Bearer killed it… it is only right that it is killed by it.

"He will never be dead as long as we survive, boy." I tightly hugged the dog, controlling my own rage and sadness and looked Kuro in the eye. "He will never be dead because he will always live inside us, inside you." I sadly smiled as I unsummoned Rabbit Escape and began.

"I vow that in exchange for the Divine Dogs merging and becoming a Totality right now, I will not use them for 2 months." I vowed, knowing the Binding Vow is accepted as Kuro is suddenly enveloped in a cocoon of darkness which soon explodes to reveal…

"HOOOWWWWLLLL!" A strong and fearsome looking, black and white furred, 8 feet tall, muscular, bi-pedal wolf with two sharp claws as his hands and the merged symbols of both the Divine Dogs, comes running out of the cocoon as it stands behind me protectively, howling to the sky as he announces its presence.

"[Totality: Gyokuken]" I intoned as we looked at the Finger Bearer with challenge and vengeance.

Now seeing that the fearsome rabbits were no longer there, the cursed spirit laughed. Assured of its victory, charges at us in the blink of an eye… well for a normal person.

"But I'm exactly on your level." I disappear in front of me, having enhanced my legs and dodged. "No, in fact I'm stronger than you." I smirk disdainfully as I crouched and punch the curse in his midsection as it is sent flying towards-

"Bark!" Gyokuken barks as he punches the Finger Bearer back towards me.

BAM!

The Finger Bearer quickly became too confused and overwhelmed by our perfect combination fighting style, and soon even started utilizing shadows and teleporting, denying the Finger Bearer all chances to land a hit . Both of us used our Senses to the maximum- reading the flow of the Bearer's CE to predict its moves, to counter them.

BAM! BAM! BAM! BAM! BAM! BAM!

With both of us beating the curse to a pulp, almost as if we were playing tennis with the pathetic curse, it was quickly too beat up to offer any resistance.

BAM! BAM! BAM! BAM! BAM! BAM! BAM! BAM! BAM!

Finally I signaled the Shikigami to finish it with my eyes, Gyokuken discreetly nodded and as I punched the Finger Bearer towards the Totality Wolf, he used his sharp and powerful claws to pierce his clawed hand through the curse's chest as it yelled out in pain.

I arrived punching CE reinforced punch to its face as it once again cried out. Gyokuken ripped his arm out of the curse's chest, purple blood clinging onto his fur as the curse tried to crawl away and escape from us.

"Finish him off Gyokuken." I said as I coldly looked down at the curse. My overconfidence cost me this time… I will not let it happen to me again. This I vowed to myself.

"HOWL!" the giant bipedal wolf howled, its vengeance now almost complete. But to my confusion, rather than running after the curse to cut it up, the wolf instead held it's one claw upwards, charging it with CE and-

No fucking way! My eyes widened in surprise and joy.

-swiped.

WOOOSH!

Four powerful looking slashes of pure darkness rushed out of Gyokuken's four sharp fingers… cutting through air as they sliced up and finally finished off the Finger Bearer curse for good.

I smiled in joy and curiosity. "That was [Abyssal Slash] wasn't it?" I asked the wolf as he came back to stand beside me.

The wolf nods happily, sitting down on the ground in a "praise-me-master!" way.

I laughed in amazement, patting and scratching the wolf. "That's wonderful Gyokuken! You're perfect!" So he can use any attacks using shadows that I can… that is very powerful. But why can only he use shadows in an offensive way? Why not the others? They are only able to use shadows for utility or support purposes but only Gyokuken and I can use it as an attack… maybe this is because Gyokuken is the Shikigami most connected to the element of shadows. That is why he is the first Shikigami given to a new user…

Unfortunately all of this was just pure speculation for now. I need to find some way to gain access to Zenin Clan archives and the manual they must have on the technique… they must have records of the first user, which will give me the clues to solve the mystery of this technique.

Not to mention, that he had managed to teach me something… I can make the slashes stronger by using CE… I had not thought of this before because of the innate CE less nature of the slashes but… apparently it worked. Somehow.

I sighed, despite the hurdles that had come today everything had ended well so I couldn't really complain. I patted the wolf some more before saying goodbye to it for the next two months. Unfortunately, while Gyokuken was my strongest Shikigami right now- because he could use my own shadow attacks, I will be unable to use him for two months because of the Binding Vow.

I walked forward crouching down to take the mummified fingers into my own hands. So this is Ryomen Sukuna's finger…

I honestly wondered what would happen if I just ate it right now. If I was correct Megumi had the potential to be a jail for Sukuna too, but was too mentally shaken from finding out about Yorozu when Sukuna took over his body, leaving him unable to resist.

If I ate this right now… I would probably become the strongest sorcerer in the world eventually, even getting another technique and Sukuna's insane reserves eventually… even capable of defeating Gojo…

But I stopped myself. No… this strength that was not even mine and required no effort to obtain…. Was not for me. I did not need it. I had confidence in myself and in my technique that I would wake up Tsumiki on my own achievements.

I did not need Sukuna, with time I could achieve everything I wanted on my own anyway. My technique was versatile enough as it was that I really didn't need his technique.

Relying on things like that, and on Mahoraga, was the mentality of loser Megumi. It would only result in me unleashing a demon upon this world before it was time. So I just stored the finger into my shadow, there was no need for anyone to know I had this after all- and who knows maybe it'll be a useful bargaining chip one day.

But feeling the CE contained in the finger and comparing it to my own, I was pleasantly surprised. So if the amount of CE in each finger is equal then… I have somewhere around 4 fingers worth of CE reserves!

Honestly that was more than I had thought and it only proved to solidify that I did not need Sukuna.

As the incomplete domain fell apart and left me back in the real world, I just hoped that these two months would pass on quickly. But judging from the chaos that came with being a Jujutsu Sorcerer it wasn't likely.

And so my time in the town of Saitama came to an end as I caught the train heading to Tokyo the very next day. Hoping to myself that the next time I come back I'll be able to wake up my sister.

[ARC 1: POTENTIAL BEGINNINGS - END]

...

2642 Words.

A/N: With this the first arc has come to an end. What did you think? Did you like it? Dislike it? Leave your comments down and I'll try to reply to the best of my ability. I think i portrayed the white Divine Dog's death appropriately- that Megumi had gotten overconfident. Plus the binding vow and emotional sensing might just come in play in the future.

Also, thank you everyone for the Power Stones and reviews, I'll try to put put another chapter this week as thanks for your support!

On another note... RIP Megumi in canon. You will be sorely missed. As a Megumi fan my week did not go well.

Next chapter, Jujutsu High's first years make their appearance!
