Chapter 31 - Chapter 29

"I'll come as soon as I can."

Mu Yang saw Jia Hao's jaw tighten, then he ended the call.

They were in the vampire's car, heading to his place. The werewolf had been persuaded to spend his recovery period there. "Otherwise, I'll come to you, and by the first light of dawn you'll find me turned to ashes," Jia Hao had said, looking him straight in the eye.

At that threat, Mu Yang had relented.

"Is everything alright?"

The vampire nodded. "It was my father."

"He must be worried about you."

A bitter laugh escaped his lips. "I doubt it."

"Why don't you go to him?"

Jia Hao gave him a meaningful look.

"I'm fine. You don't have to stay with me all the time."

"It can wait," he said firmly.

Mu Yang didn't press further. Jia Hao didn't like to talk about his family. He had told him he came from noble lineage and that things were... complicated at the moment. But he had never gone into detail.

Once home, Jia Hao carried the bag with Mu Yang's clothes and personal items into the bedroom. They had stopped by the werewolf's house to pick up what he might need.

"Qin'ai de, the doctors said you need to rest. Go lie down, I'll make something to eat."

Mu Yang had followed him into the kitchen, so the vampire stepped closer.

"I'm not as good as you are, but I won't let you starve," he said, smiling.

Mu Yang smiled back. "You're better than you think."

Then, at his reproachful look, he turned with a loud sigh and went to lie down on the couch, where he could enjoy the view from the window.
