Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

Kakashi was hiding outside and hadn't been noticed by Hatake Kusuo.

At this moment, even Kusuo himself was a little shocked by the power of his strike just now.

"Hiss... Sun Breathing really is incredible!"

"Even though that was just the First Form, its power probably matches a B-rank jutsu, right?"

Since he hadn't yet learned or practiced any actual ninjutsu, his understanding of their ranks was still pretty fuzzy.

But right after, a wave of exhaustion swept through his body.

"So tired!"

Kusuo let out a long breath.

That strike had taken a lot out of him.

Total Concentration Breathing was great, but since he hadn't mastered Total Concentration Constant, he couldn't maintain that state of drawing out his body's full potential all the time.

[Ding! The host used a Sun Breathing technique. Template portrayal level increased by %.]

[Current portrayal level: 2.01%.]

Training like this could raise his portrayal level?

Hearing this, Kusuo's eyes lit up. That was definitely good news.

"In that case, let me keep training!"

"The Mark, the Transparent World, and the full Sun Breathing forms… I'm craving them all!"

He stabbed his sword into the ground and used it to support himself as he stood.

Kusuo had already noticed that his sword speed had improved dramatically.

Before gaining the template, managing one slash every two seconds was already impressive for him.

Now, even his casual strikes were several times faster than before.

And the power had increased by leaps and bounds too.

But that was only natural. Yoriichi Tsugikuni had been a monster capable of delivering fifteen hundred slashes in a single second, annihilating Muzan Kibutsuji in an instant.

Even with just one percent of Yoriichi's talent, slashing fifteen times a second wouldn't be out of reach.

Of course, it wasn't as simple as scaling it down with math. But judging by feel, Kusuo could probably manage three slashes a second, maybe more.

He walked up to the wooden training dummy that had been hacked into pieces. Carefully, he set it upright again and used some sticks to brace it together.

Nearby, several dummies were still smoldering, the lingering effect of [Sun Breathing First Form]'s elemental power.

[Kusuo used Sun Breathing First Form: Dance of the Fire God.]

Once again, he unleashed a Sun Breathing technique.

This time, however, he didn't use Total Concentration Breathing.

After all, that state consumed too much stamina. If he didn't need it for training, he'd rather not use it.

Bang

The arc-shaped slash instantly engulfed the dummy before him. It had already been barely holding together, so this time it was blasted into countless fragments in an instant.

And that wasn't all.

With the Yoriichi template, Kusuo's blade speed was astonishing. The sword cut through the air with a piercing whistle, as if breaking the sound barrier.

"So strong!"

On the other side, hidden in the shadows, Kakashi's brow furrowed deeply. He'd only been watching out of curiosity, wanting to see what his cousin was up to, but what he saw now was beyond belief.

"That sword speed… it's unbelievable."

"There's no way a five-year-old kid should be capable of this."

In order to see Kusuo's blade movements clearly, Kakashi even lowered his mask and activated his Sharingan. Only then could he barely follow Kusuo's motion.

And that made him even more shocked.

A five-year-old child able to swing a sword so fast that only the Sharingan could keep up. If word of this got out, it would blow the minds of even the top figures in the village.

"Who's there?"

Kakashi's soft exclamation didn't escape Kusuo's sharp ears.

Alert, Kusuo called out again, but still no one answered.

So he pretended he must have misheard and turned back toward the wooden post, as if ready to resume training.

In the next moment...

[Kusuo used Sun Breathing First Form: Dance of the Fire God.]

Swish

The sword move was unleashed.

A sudden slash.

It carried incredible pressure, roaring like a fire dragon.

A wave of searing flame swept forward, scorching the air. In the blink of an eye, it reached Kakashi, startling him into leaping up.

Boom

A loud explosion.

Rocks flew, and dust filled the air.

A huge crater, several meters deep, appeared at their feet.

On the ground lay a broken blade, snapped in two.

That had been Kakashi's weapon, swung instinctively to block. It had been cleaved clean in half, offering no resistance at all.

In the end, only because Kusuo had recognized Kakashi's face and angled the blade down had this been the result.

Looking at the crater, it wasn't hard to imagine what would have happened if the strike had landed on a human body.

There wouldn't have been anything left, not even scraps.

Kakashi stared gravely at Kusuo, his heart filled with shock beyond words.

Perfect swordsmanship.

Its potential even surpassed the Hatake clan's inherited blade techniques.

He didn't know where his cousin had learned such a style, but one thing was certain: not even his own father, the man hailed as the White Fang of Konoha, could have unleashed such a technique at this age.

And Kusuo was still just a child. When he grew up and had enough chakra to unleash this strike at full strength, what kind of destruction would it cause?

It wouldn't be just a crater at their feet. It would be an abyss carved into the earth by human hands.

Thinking of this, Kakashi's gaze burned as he looked at his cousin.

The joy of discovering a flawless, uncut gem filled his heart.

A child of the Hatake clan.

If this boy could be guided properly, one day he would grow into a man no less mighty than the White Fang himself.
