"I was created by the great God-Emperor himself. I will annihilate all enemies of mankind and become the God of War who protects all humanity," Axis declared.
At the same time, a dazzling golden radiance shone from his body, making these religious followers from the Monarchia even more fanatical.
"Praise the great God-Emperor! Praise the great protector of humanity, Lord Axis! You are the God-Emperor's wrath made manifest!" a priest from the Monarchia shouted, kneeling on the ground in frenzied devotion.
Back when they had tried to spread their faith on the ships of other Primarchs, it had been extremely difficult, almost impossible.
Nobody had welcomed them.
But to their surprise, upon coming aboard Lord Axis's ship, they were treated with overwhelming enthusiasm.
He even received them personally and displayed that golden brilliance to them.
This was simply wonderful! Lord Logar was right, someone had finally acknowledged his teachings.
Axis couldn't help but smile at this.
"Since you've come to my ship, I will welcome you warmly. I permit you to preach here," Axis said.
"Thank you, thank you for the God-Emperor's blessing!" the religious members from the Monarchia replied.
Afterward, under Kasha's arrangements, Axis's subordinates led the delegation away.
Once the clergy had left, Kasha stormed over to Axis.
"Axis, For the love of …! Haah! didn't I already tell you to just deal with them perfunctorily and send them off.
"What are you up to?!
"Don't you know what my father hates most?"
Axis smiled, gesturing for Kasha to take a seat and once she did, asked,
"Kasha, do you think your father is a god?"
"??? My father is obviously n—not, isn't… is, is…" Kasha's voice grew softer and softer.
She really wanted to say her father wasn't a god, but her father's abilities far surpassed those of ordinary humans, even exceeding all the other immortals in power.
Even according to her mother, all the evidence pointed in one direction.
Her father really was a god! And not just any god, but in all possibility, one of the most powerful beings from within the Warp!
"You already have an answer in your heart. It's a truly laughable joke: a god refusing to admit he's a god.
"What ordinary human could be immortal? What ordinary human would possess infinite psychic power?
"Just because he doesn't admit it doesn't mean it's not true. Normal perpetuals don't have power on the Emperor's level!" Axis said.
Among the Primarchs, the most tragic traitors were Magnus and Logar.
The loyalty these two had shown the Emperor even exceeded some of the loyalist Primarchs, at least before the destruction of the Monarchia!
Whatever the Emperor said, Logar took as divine command, striving with all his might to fulfill it, whatever the cost.
As for Magnus, he would never have betrayed the Emperor if not for that bird bastard leading him on.
Even ten thousand years later, Logar became the founding patriarch of the Imperial Cult, everyone knew who wrote the Lectitio Divinitatus.
Were the Sisters of Battle weak? Ten thousand years later, their strength was second only to the Space Marines.
But their numbers were hundreds of times greater than the Astartes!
And those battle nuns could really fight.
Without the Sisters of Battle, humanity would have lost on countless battlefields, especially in the Black Crusades of the Dead Zones.
Then there were the Imperial Saints, the most famous being Celestine, who was also a Sister of Battle.
And the Exorcists, let's be honest, those are the Emperor's own Daemon Princes, pitted against the daemon armies.
The faith of all humanity was incredibly potent, powerful and absolutely crucial!
So the Emperor saying he's not a god was the biggest joke in the galaxy, it's like a human claiming they're not human!
The most important thing was, if he could keep Logar on their side, if Logar doesn't rebel, he wanted to see how those Four Chaos Gods played their hand.
Hell, he might even help Logar set up the Imperial Cult ahead of schedule!
Logar wasn't really suited to being a Primarch, making him the Pope of the Imperial Cult was the best choice.
Logar would absolutely raise both hands and feet in support of that.
"What exactly are you planning? Even if my father is a god, he really hates being called one, it truly annoys him," Kasha said.
Her father, the Emperor, hated being referred to as a god, even though he probably was one in reality.
"Logar's people came to my ship of their own accord, it's not like I invited them here. Who's to say they didn't receive a direct order from the Emperor?
"And I haven't received any order from your father saying Logar's missionaries aren't allowed to stay on my ship, either," Axis said.
In fact, when Logar first started preaching, the Emperor hadn't approved, but he hadn't forbidden it either, instead, he maintained an ambiguous attitude.
It wasn't until Logar became obsessed with proselytizing and seriously slowed the progress of the Great Crusade that the Emperor began to show his displeasure.
As long as the Crusade advanced smoothly, the Emperor turned a blind eye to almost everything else.
Every Primarch had secrets, some were some lunatics who killed their own captains and butchered their sons.
Did the Emperor ever say anything? Never. Everything was for the sake of the Great Crusade.
As long as the advance didn't slow, the Emperor simply didn't care about most things.
Axis used to think like a Custodes, but now, as a Primarch, he began considering things from a new perspective.
Axis had his own motives for all this, he wanted to leverage Logar's religious influence.
He needed to qualify as a god himself. For example, humanity's God of War, or the Destroyer God of the xenos.
Axis could walk the path of Super Saiyan on his own, but the power of divinity required some special methods.
Step one was to awaken psychic power, gain a powerful soul, and create a link to the Warp, otherwise, he wouldn't have been able to receive the faith believers.
He had already accomplished this on Prospero with Magnus's help.
The second step was to become a symbol of godhood himself.
To become the God of War for humanity, or even the entire universe, that was Axis's goal!
Only by grasping divine power would Axis qualify to oppose the four Chaos Gods.
Being recognized by all of humanity as the God of War, and receiving the faith of the entire species, was essential.
The old man had sat on the Golden Throne for ten thousand years.
Once he accepted all of humanity's hope and faith, the power was beyond measure.
It was said mentioned in some novels, that during the Siege of Terra, the warp around Terra looked like a god-birthing event. And there were fan theories suggesting that, if not for Malcador's persuasion, the Emperor would chosen to become the fifth Chaos God.
So, helping Logar establish the Imperial Cult ahead of time, or even convincing the old man to accept his own divinity, became Axis's goal.
Everything he was doing was, at its core, to deal with Chaos!
The old man's plan to seal off the Warp was completely unrealistic.
"Kasha, I'll be honest with you, I want to become a God," Axis said bluntly.
As soon as the first syllable of God was spoken by Axis, the room they were in was sealed by a bubble of psychic energy.
It was like the existence of the room was erased from the universe.
Kasha was beyond utterly shocked. And she looked absolutely serious.
She stared at Axis in disbelief, took a deep breath, and finally said,
"You! It's fine to say this to me, but don't you dare let anyone else hear that!"
This bastard's ideas were getting crazier by the day, he actually wanted to become a god!
"That contradicts the Imperial Truth. The Emperor promotes faith in science."
Axis, looked around at the tight wrap of psychic energy around the room, interested. He gently asked, "Kasha, do you really believe in that? You know about those things in the Warp, do you really believe in atheism?"
"But the four Chaos Gods in the Warp are incredibly evil. They're nothing good about them at all," Kasha said.
"There's more in the Warp than just those four. Orks have their own gods, the Eldar have their pantheon, and by this order, humanity should have its own gods, except right now, the human gods just appear in a different form," Axis replied.
Primarchs came from the Warp; they were minor gods of the Warp, so the most likely truth was that Primarchs were the gods of humanity.
Even his old man, Russ had suspected that being sent to Fenris was no accident.
"That's just a guess between me and my mother. Axis, you really shouldn't let anyone else hear you say that," Kasha warned, her psycolohgical scars really werent cured..
"Trust me, I have the strength to protect you now! And from the last battle, my power has grown even greater," Axis said.
This time, Axis had already touched the threshold of Super Saiyan 2.
In the fight with Rangda, his body had briefly been covered in lightning, and his power had leapt forward.
That was the sign of the Super Saiyan 2 transformation!
As long as he could control his rage, going Super Saiyan 2 would be natural, and then he could stack Super Saiyan 2 on top of Legendary Super Saiyan.
"And how exactly do you plan to become humanity's god?" Kasha asked, sighing. There was firm determination in her eyes as she asked, that Axis found adorable.
"First, I need to obtain Primarch status and have my own Legion," Axis explained.
Once he had his own Legion, he needed to find a way to build a solid relationship with Logar.
And then, by certain means, make Logar believe without doubt that Axis was a god, a true God of War for humanity!
Next, Axis had to gain the faith of all mankind and, through his Warp connection, harness that faith as power.
Otherwise, someone else might ascend as the new God of War in the Warp, and Axis had no intention of making way for anyone else.
He had to make his psychic might strong enough to absorb that faith and become a god himself.
"You know my choice already don't you?" Kasha asked.
Axis smiled, stood up and scooped Kasha in his arms.
"Of course!"
