It started as a hollow whisper, burning into his mind and spreading like a vermin through Elrien's consciousness.
The incense stick in his study chamber was only half burned, but the sky outside was rapidly turning grey, abnormal darkened clouds thickened the afternoon grey, and the rotten smell of forgotten forbidden magic infiltrated Elrien's nostrils.

He dropped his brush, causing black ink to splatter across the white paper like spilt blood.
Someone was using it. They were summoning and gathering dark evil forces all in one place.
The candle beside his desk flickered, the flame turning black, like liquid shadow had replaced the light itself.
