Chapter Fifty
Yuta suddenly realized how ridiculous he sounded. Why did he just blurt those words without thinking?
He should have thought of a better excuse. As if Lord Elrien would be interested in his pet.
The thought of Shadow still missing made his heart clench.
"Your pet?" Elrien chorused, his expression giving nothing away.
Yuta sighed, his shoulders slumping dejectedly, he supposed it was too late to change his lie.
"My snake. His name is Shadow, and I haven't seen him for some time now,"
Yuta bit his lip, slowly meeting Elrien's gaze, unable to hide his sadness at the thought of Shadow being scared, with the unfamiliar scents and sounds in the palace.
Something flickered in Elrien's own dark eyes—a look Yuta couldn't identify.
