Chapter twenty eight
Yuta sat down in the corner, pulling his knees to his chest. Shadow slithered down to curl in his lap, the snake's body the only warm thing in the freezing room.
"At least we have shelter," Yuta whispered, but his teeth were already chattering. "You poor animal, you must be frightened, everyone wanted you dead today, but you shouldn't have bitten Tomas,"
How many enemies was he going to have in the palace, Yuta wasn't naive to think Lady Lyria would simple leave him be, he could already feel the storms rolling in the cloud, soon it would pour down rain of her vengeance.
He lay down on the hard floor, using his arm as a pillow. The stone was so cold it felt like ice against his cheek. Shadow pressed close to his chest, but it wasn't enough to stop the shivers that wracked his body.
Hours passed and Yuta cried quietly, he tried not to make noise as he soaked the stony floors. Shadow lay pressed against his side, warm in the cold darkness.
