Chapter 19 - Gold and Copper

Decent? He had enough to buy the entire Holy empire of Man twice over and still have change.

Elarion's azure eyes curved into a smile, golden light flickering through his lashes. "Let me pay. You should save your money to buy better equipment. Only knowing one spell is really dangerous…"

Elarion was truly worried about his roommate. He knew how hard life was for a mage born into a commoner family. Without money, you couldn't buy spell scrolls, and without spells, you couldn't earn money.

It was a vicious, closed loop that only immense natural talent could ever break through.

Elarion truly, truly wanted to help. He had witnessed so much suffering among the poor during his missionary work, but he had never seen anyone quite like Lee Kiwook.

There was light in his eyes.

Lee Kiwook thought his roommate was basically the Western version of Tang Monk, it's infuriating to watch when you're a bystander, but when you're the one actually receiving that kind-hearted treatment,

Eheheh, it really was thorough and considerate~

Bullshit!

Right now, Lee Kiwook was filled with nothing but guilt.

If it weren't for the fact that he currently lacked offensive skills and revealing his wealth would only attract trouble, he would've wrapped his little roommate from head to toe with legendary equipment by now.

Your big bro here is really, really rich! Believe me, aaahhh—

Lee Kiwook was roaring in his heart, face completely expressionless.

He said nothing, just strode quickly to the Academy gate, found a small centaur-drawn carriage, whipped out a gold coin in a flash, and gave a rapid command: "Two people. To Central Street."

The centaur beastman pulling the carriage stared intensely at the gold coin for a moment, then shook his head with difficulty. "I'm sorry, going to Central Street only costs two copper coins. One gold coin is too much, I don't have change for it."

Is real life really this honest?! Lee Kiwook was stunned. Do you know how much it costs to use a teleportation array in the game? One hundred and eighty gold coins!

He didn't know how to respond for a moment.

Behind him, Elarion was chasing after Lee Kiwook with all his might and panting heavily as he caught up. "Why… did you suddenly start walking so fast…"

He quickly spotted the gold coin in Lee Kiwook's hand and, understanding the situation, he smiled knowingly. Then he fished out two copper coins from his pouch and placed them in the centaur's hand. "To Central Street, thank you."

Once the two of them were seated side-by-side in the narrow carriage, Elarion noticed that Lee Kiwook was still holding that gold coin in his palm and gave him a nudge. "Don't space out, hurry up and put it away. Gold coins are really valuable and it's easy to get robbed."

Lee Kiwook came back to his senses and slowly put the gold coin back into his pocket. Looking down at his now empty palm, he muttered, "I was just thinking about how to make money."
