Chapter 15 - THE APPRAISAL [Netherforge]

---------

{{Appraisal information assessing… Appraisal information assessed.}}

{{Daxon Smith ... this is your appraisal.}}

----------

{{name: Daxon Smith}}

{{Will: weak}}

{{True name: null |reveal|}}

{{Outstanding sin: Blackmail}}

{{Triarch facet: Beyonder}}

---------

No way.

No bloody way.

Dax stared at the shimmering runes, his heart lurching. A Beyonder? Him? He blinked again and again, hoping the words would rearrange themselves into something else, anything else.

But they didn't.

The truth pressed down on him like an iron weight. And then, slowly, against all expectation, a smile unfurled across his lips.

It was done. Irreversible.

Of course he had been chosen as a Beyonder.

The memory of that test with Malfoy clawed at the edges of his mind. The whole thing had been an illusion… well, everything except the beast.

If he had forgiven Malfoy, if he had saved him, they would have marked him a Transcended instead.

But he hadn't.

And he didn't care. He never had.

he returned his mind to the runes

-------------

{{Scars: 34}}

{{Aspect: the Stirred}}

-------------

The Stirred.

The rank that follows the Emberbound.

Those who were named Emberbound were the chosen, they were "bound" to face the Harness first, to be ground through its teeth and test before becoming Stirred… before Awakening.

But what came next nearly ripped the breath from his lungs.

As they have Aspects, they also have the Aspect Rank, it was more like the attributes given to someone, what makes them special, and also what determines how strong and how their ranking up will be.

They have seven aspect rank for the aspects in a whole, both for the Beyonders and the transcended.

For the Beyonders, the seven aspect rank ranged from; Seed, Sprout, Bloom, Thorn, Eclipse, Wither, and Abyss.

Looking at the runes, still shocked, he saw:

--------

{{Aspect rank: Abyss}}

---------

He froze.

He had gotten the highest Aspect rank. For a weak-willed like him, he didn't expect such.

A tentative smile lit his face, then widened into something almost wicked, and he started seeing being a Beyonder as something not so bad and damning.

And now, being in the highest aspect rank, it meant that it had given him something that was very rare, for even most of those that were in higher Aspects than the 'Stirred' have not yet reached the Aspect Rank of Abyssal.

The fact was that after the Aspect of the Hollowed, the climb became brutal, and also, people that were above the hollowed that is the The Twisted, The Cursed, The Unholy were very few, and their Aspect Rank, well, out of the few, might be Abyssal, but not all.

It was something very rare, and only a few were appraised with such.

Now why him, a weak-willed and pathetic weirdo, given Abyssal rank?

He chuckled as he continued through his runes.

------------

{{Essence gain: [mask essence] |reveal| 3/50}}

{{Parallax server destroyed: 2}}

{{Weapon earned: Silver spoon [summon], Bronze sword [summon], sentient compass [summon]}}

{{Bio-line: null |reveal|}}

------------

Dax, who now was joyous, looked at his Weapon Earned.

 His smile sharpened. 'Look what they decided to give me at last, now that I am out of the Harness, they are presenting me with a sword'. He chuckled.

"Oh, how generous," he muttered darkly. "Getting help when I no longer need it."

Now looking at his essence, the smile almost went away, for he knew the struggle he went through to kill that beast.

'Three. Only three mask essences.'

Well, the fact was that the beast was the lowest in rank out of all the Parallax servers, and it, the both, only gave three masks.

He suspected that the first gave him one, then the second gave him the remaining, since the second beast was more evolved than the first.

***

The mask is an essence, it's like the soul core which evolves from the Parallax servers when they are killed. It contains the memories, the weapons earned, the power, and then souls of the Parallax server it came from.

The masks can only be evolved by a Beyonder.

What the Transcended evolve is called Echoes, and these essences, once they form a full thread, that is, when they reach a total of fifty, it forms a complete soul thread.

These soul threads are of two types: the Lumen thread, which is for the Transcended, and the Shadow/Brand thread, which is for the Beyonders. Once these threads are maxed out, they enter the next rank/aspect.

****

Dax looked at the bio-line, which in it was written "null."

Bio-lines are like your ancestors, from which the wills were drawn, they were those that received the will from the twin lords and passed it down, and it determines how strong one is.

Out of all the bio-lines, only five were very famous, and they are… Veyrath, Dravok, Zerathis, Kaelvorn, Morvane.

Now Dax wondered why his was "null."

Well, perhaps it was because he was weak-willed and that none of his ancestors had ever been in the Trinity. Or maybe because he was too pathetic that no bio-line wanted him.

He wanted to reveal the reason, but something else started happening.

Suddenly, something started to descend towards him. It looked ethereal but very much real, it cast a sharp green emerald light which cut through the void as it descended.

Dax stared, transfixed, as the thing descended until it hovered level with his face.

He looked at it, and without needing to be told, he knew what it was already, thanks to the new knowledge he just got.

Right there in front of him was a colossal hollow frame.

It was just a hooded cloak that was shaped in the figure of a man, yet no one was in it.

The figure had a crown of thorns on its head, jagged and regal, and then a green mighty energy was spiralling around, wrapping its emptiness in a shimmering force field.

Inside the hood where a head should be was empty, and also the part where the legs should be was empty as well.

The only thing solid about it were the skeletal hands. And both were outstretched, bent slightly forward, cradling an orb

The two hands held the orb but didn't make contact with it, it just floated in the air between the boned hands.

The orb shimmered a soft, luminous blue, casting a dim, haunting light into the void.

Then, inside the orb, were three little purple lights that were roaming inside it.

They were glinting and gallivanting inside the orb.

Daxon smiled as he saw it.

He didn't think that those two beasts he killed would still give him his mask essences because it took time before it was appraised to him.

Now, those little masks essences which were in the orb contained things, the first one was a very little silver spoon; the second was a small hilt of a sword; and the third was the compass.

"the mask essences contains the weapon earned, the memories and the soul cores of the creatures evolved" Dax muttered coldly.

Then he knew that the energies that were around this earned weapons were the memories, the souls, the essence and then the power that had evolved from the beasts.

The crown of thorns that was on the empty-headed hood well, it meant that his Aspect facet was a Beyonder.

Then the green energy that swirled around the entire figure like a forcefield meant only one thing... the thing that gave him the highest joy.

It meant his abyssal rank.

"The void of kernel" he muttered. That was where he was. It was just as if he was inside himself, seeing what he was made up of.

And then the figure in his front, that was his Netherforge, That empty hooded figure represented him and then all those things around him was a representation of what was within him.

the Netherforge is like, someone's soul, the inner part of him, and what he is made up of. And now looking at these figure and all it possessed Dax now compared it to the runes he heard and saw that it was the same

He couldn't misread it.

Once that orb in the skeletal hand is filled with the mask essence, it means that he has completed a full thread and then he will rank up into the next level.

He hadn't seen his Netherforge while he was still an Emberbound, that is; while he was still going through the harness.

But he had noticed something, though, according to the memories that flooded him earlier, a Beyonder's scars manifested as frays, tears, and gashes on the cloak.

But then, the bodiless cloak had no frays, neither did it tear anywhere.

But then he realized that he ranked up newly, and that from now on, any scar he gets or injury will show up on it.

Just after he had finished assimilating it, and everything made sense, the voice returned with one last and final information.

{{Bio-line: null .... but Daxon Smith, you have unlocked a new bio-line.}}

Daxon stared with his eyes wide open, his breath hitching in his chest. as the voice now scribbled it word by word:
