They were chatting in the courtyard, where all the maids and knights were witnessing them.
The topic of discussion was heated, and the maids all perked their ears to get a glimpse of it.
Ezra tilted her head slightly.
"That said… I heard the girl placed sixth this year."
Leon nodded slowly. "Unfortunately, yes."
Ezra let out the softest hum of amusement.
"Oh my. That is a bigger blow to the Nightson family than I expected. Their pride has always been built on being first. And this time, they were outdone twice."
Twice?
Leon took note of her words.
Ezra continued.
"I suppose I should expect Duke Raizen to raise his standards even further. He is not the type to accept defeat quietly."
Leon simply nodded.
'Just end this quickly… my legs are getting numb.'
Ezra gave him one last glance.
"You may go to your room and freshen up before the family gathering. Your uncle should arrive any moment now."
This reminded Leon.
"Did sister Veronica arrive yet?"
