The morning light bled across the pocket realm, soft and golden, but it did little to hide the unease hanging in the air. The girls noticed it, though none spoke of it.

Kaelthar sat apart, sharpening a blade he didn't really need. His eyes were distant, his hand steady, his mind far beyond the steel.

Rias was the first to speak, wrapping a blanket around her shoulders as she sat beside him. "You didn't sleep."

Kaelthar smirked faintly. "You've been watching me?"

"Someone has to," she muttered, but her eyes softened.

Before more could be said, Akeno appeared, hair loose, mischief already sparking in her smile. "Oh? Watching Kaelthar, are we? Careful, Rias, you'll make him think you care."

Rias flushed, glaring. "Don't twist my words."

Kaelthar chuckled, sheathing his blade. His gaze swept across them all, then finally settled. "We're leaving this place."

The words cut through the calm like a blade.

"Leaving?" Rias blinked. "You mean… outside?"

Akeno tilted her head, intrigued. "That's sudden. What brought this on?"

Even Yasaka, emerging with Kunou still dozing in her arms, paused and looked at him with quiet curiosity.

Kaelthar rose, his cloak brushing the ground. "Because I promised Rias I would meet her parents in the Underworld. I intend to keep that promise."

Rias froze, crimson eyes widening. "You… you remembered."

"I remember everything," he said simply.

Her lips parted, but no sound came out. A blush touched her cheeks, and she quickly turned away, pretending to fuss with her cloak.

Akeno, of course, laughed softly. "How romantic. Kaelthar, meeting the in-laws. I didn't think you had it in you."

"It isn't romance," Kaelthar said evenly. "It's respect. Her parents deserve to know the man who stands at their daughter's side."

Rias groaned. "You're insufferable…"

But her voice was quiet, almost shy.

Yasaka, however, studied him longer, her golden gaze piercing. "And is that truly the only reason you've chosen to leave now?"

Kaelthar met her gaze without hesitation. "It is reason enough."

But in his mind, the truth stirred.

The servants of Vorath—gone. Not hidden, not fled, but erased from the framework of creation. No scars remained. No trace.

For most, that would spark dread.

But Kaelthar felt something else.

Intrigue.

Even with his vast knowledge, even with his reach across the endless lattice of existence, he could not identify the hand that struck them from reality. That alone made it fascinating.

Who are you? he wondered silently. What kind of being erases the un-erasable?

He wasn't afraid. Fear was for those who clung to the illusion of safety. Kaelthar had long abandoned that. Instead, he felt the faint thrill of curiosity burning beneath his calm exterior. Whoever it was, they were not Vorath, not any of his servants, not any of the higher existences he already knew.

Something new had revealed itself.

And Kaelthar intended to learn what.

Preparations moved quickly. Kunou perked up at the mention of leaving, her earlier drowsiness forgotten. "Outside? Really? Are there new sweets out there?"

Yasaka chuckled softly, smoothing her daughter's hair. "Plenty. But you'll have to be patient."

Rias kept sneaking glances at Kaelthar when she thought he wasn't looking, her heart conflicted. He had remembered his promise. He had chosen her family as the first destination. And that meant more than she could put into words.

Akeno teased her relentlessly, of course. "You look nervous, Rias. Don't worry. If your parents don't approve, I'm sure Kaelthar could just… terrify them into acceptance."

Rias groaned. "Akeno, please."

Kaelthar only smirked faintly.

At the dimensional gate, they gathered as a group. Kaelthar stood at its center, cloak stirring faintly in the windless air.

"Time to step back into the storm," he murmured.

Rias heard him, her lips curving softly. "Then let's face it together."
