Well it worked for Austin because he easily defeated Shiki and got his devil fruit and more over he will get fame after defeating legendary pirate that fought with pirate king.

It took some time to end all the pirates that were hidden on these Islands for his crew and he watched all this from sky while he killed those who escaped from them.
It took them four hours to adjust everything on these islands.
"Captain, what are we going to now with these people and islands? It has been some time since the Marines have arrived and they have been keeping and Eye on us." Ain asked

Pick up the selected islands and take these islands to places we decided, those marines wouldn't dare to come near us." he said as people living on these Islands came back because they cannot live without those trees which can only be found on these Islands.
Soon Alvo jumped on the main Island and used his powers to float 2 other islands with it. Marines watching from afar were recording everything that they saw.
Everyone watched as the Islands disappeared in sky. Soon this news will reach the upper echelons of world government. They were always wary of this fruit and now that one of my subordinates have eaten this fruit they will surely increase his bounty.

Sometime later they were sitting on the table and having feast after their victory on Shiki.

"So now we have Float float user, Sing Sing fruit user and Flower flower fruit user. Is there anyone who wants to eat any of the fruits that we have." he asked
"I can't eat any devil fruit otherwise i won't be able to work on ship repairs properly." barb said.
Kuina and Cossete also declined the offer while Carina thought for moment before shaking her head. Only Ain was staring at Ice Phoenix fruit.
"Austin, i have never thougth about eating devil fruit but seeing that fruit i am having a sudden urge to taste it. Although i know that it won't taste any good." she said
"If that's the case then you should eat it." He replied because he knew that mostly all Mythical users choose their own masters like happened with Luffy or Yamato. Cases like kaido are rare.
"Now four members on our Ship are devil fruit users. After that we are left with Thunderbird and paper paper fruit. Others are not worth it." he said and gave the remaining fruits to Robin while Ain left the group with her fruit in her hand.
