Chapter 9 - Chapter 9

Ever since that day, I have been given the charge to instruct and teach them. On the first day, I decided to see the level of their skill, and honestly, I was disappointed since I expected them to be much better than that. But still, they were at the beginning of the novel.

Maybe if I help them with this, they might deliberately spare me.

"You have three weeks to teach them whatever is necessary. After I see their progress, will I decide if they are fit for the house or not? Once they finish that, they will join your college with you."

I nod at my father's decision. It was already meant to happen since it did in the novel as well. Otherwise, how would Mira meet her second male lead, Aiden?

I left to teach those two in the practice room. This time, I taught them how to hide their presence anywhere. And I was surprised that they did great in it.

The day after the next, I was drinking the water from the bottle after a break. Mira was absent since she went to the restroom for a while. Keiran approached me from behind.

"I heard we were to go to college with you."

I glanced back and nodded before jumping off the chair that was arranged for me. Putting the bottle on the table, I look straight into his eyes making him suck in his breath. Why? Did I scare him or something? Weird....

But it's quite satisfying. The male character, the most unbreakable character, Keiran was scared of me. All those years of hard work paid off.

I controlled the smile erupting on my lips and asked, "Why do you ask, though?"

He scratched his chin, "Would we go to the same class?"

"Yes," I confirmed, and he nodded as if to understand. Right then, Mira returns and we start our practice from there on.

"Why do you look so tired?"

As soon as I entered the college, Liana asked me about my haggard look.

I sighed and just gave them the excuse of studying late at night.

We entered the classroom and sat at our respective seats. It's just that today Aiden decided to sit next to me and Liana behind.

Our class started, and I tried everything to stay focused. I drank lots of water and slapped a little on my cheeks, but nothing worked.

'I can't sleep right now. It would be troublesome if the teacher finds out that I'm sleeping.'

Even though I tried, I was so overwhelmed with tiredness and stress that I fell asleep without any knowledge.

~~~~~~~~
Aiden stared at Elira's sleeping face. He knew from when he first laid his eyes on her this morning that she was extremely tired and would definitely sleep in class.
Sun rays came from behind the windows and glowed around her head like a halo. Her face was shadowed as it was not facing the rays. He looked at her eyes, which usually showed coldness, but her eyes now showed nothing.
Aiden couldn't see her complete face since she had covered half of it with her arms folded around her face. A curve was formed on his lips as he realized his prediction had turned true.
He turns around and puts his bag on the seat. He keeps the bag right in front of Elira to cover her sleeping figure from the professor in the room.
~~~~~~~~

Two classes went on and I finally woke up in the third period.

I stretched my arms in the air and my neck to the sides with a stretching moan "Mmm~".

I turned around at the sound of coughing and saw Liana smiling from behind as she looked at me and Aiden.

With a frown, I looked at Aiden and raised a brow to ask what happened. But he just shakes his head and turns around.

As I didn't get any answers, I just decided to turn a blind eye and shrug it off.

I noticed the bag on my seat, huge enough to cover my bent body on the bench, and immediately knew whose it would be. As I turned to Aiden, he quickly turned to the front and reached out his hand to take his bag away.

"You were sleeping, and if you were caught, the teacher would stop the class to scold you. I didn't want the class to be interrupted so I hid you from the teacher."

He glanced at my side while pinching his brow together. "Don't try to read anything weird into this."

I looked at him and sighed, "I'm not. Thank you, though. I have been very tired for a few days now."

I noticed his questioning gaze on me but I decided to ignore it. It was unnecessary to tell him, since he would eventually get to the truth once those two main characters entered this college.

"Why don't we go to the nearby cafe after these boring classes?" Liana draped her arms over our shoulders, making us lean forward with her weight on us.

I looked at the time, "Three. Alright?"

Liana and I nod and then turn to Aiden. He looked at us for a bit and then smiled.

"Ok, three."

~~~~~~~~
After we finished our time at the cafe, I arrived at the mansion at 4:30. It was Aiden who dropped me off since I told my guards to leave early as I had to spend time with my friends. After telling him goodbye I was turning to leave, "Won't you give me something in exchange for your service?"
I turned with a raised brow and leaned on his car window, "What exactly do you want?"
I noticed late that his face was close because of me leaning on the window, but it would be even awkward if I acknowledged it and stepped back. So I decided to ignore it.
For a moment, he just stared into my eyes, searching for something I didn't know about.
He then suddenly chuckled and waved his hand in my direction, "Nothing. I was kidding. Why would I ask for something from you, Elira, for just dropping you off?"
I blinked at his face and then tilted my head with a smile, "I knew it. I was kidding, too."
Before I left, I saw his stiff face looking at my smile. Why? Is my smile that pretty?
As soon as I passed through the gate, I was met by Keiran standing by the entrance. He looked at me and then behind at Aiden who still hadn't left. Their eyes met for a moment before he looked back at me.
I stopped in my tracks and looked at him for answers.
"Father told us that today he'd see our skill himself and judge whether we can join the college this time."
It has been more than three weeks. I already expected him to test their skills. But--
"He would check himself?"
I was surprised to hear that Father would test them himself. I hope they do good, otherwise I would be punished. And I'm not in the shape to take any punishments.
"All the best." With that, I moved on. Aiden had also left the road for quite some time now.
~~~~~~~

I decided to sleep the rest of the day and leave the consequences of the test results for later. But my father wanted otherwise.

"Miss, your father asked for your presence."

I agreed since I had no other choice and reached the training room.

There, I saw Keiran and Mira in the middle of the room. Father was sitting in the same chair I would use while training them. I reached his side, giving my two siblings a glance on the way. Mira was looking nervous while Keiran looked... I don't know, I don't care.

"Since you were their trainer for the past weeks, it would only be right for you to watch them complete their tests."

I bowed my head and gave him my respect, which was definitely not from the heart, and looked at where the two siblings were standing. It was Mira turns and her opponent was one of father's men. They faced each other and took a stance with their knives. With a whistle, they charged at one another.

Mira charged at the guy but he dodged, obviously. He kicks her in the stomach, making her stumble. That was better than flying over a kick.

She once again charged forward to him. The fight continued with them attacking and dodging each other. Until the fight was over with Mira breathing heavy and leaving the other person injured in the shoulder.

I heard father's hummed voice and a sigh escaped my lips.

Next was Keiran.

He fought with a man other than the previous one. This time, he waited for the person to charge first. I looked at his movements and he was swift but definitely tensed. Though, he did quite good. Better than what I thought the first time I taught them. And the best part, Keiran defeated the enemy faster than Mira.

This made father's eyes gleam with excitement.

Was I nervous? Yeah, who wouldn't be? If these kids hadn't done well, I would have been punished for it.
