Frieza knew exactly what a Super Saiyan looked like.
After all, he had been defeated by one—Sun Wukong's golden-haired transformation had led to his downfall once. And then, he was killed again, years later, by a young Super Saiyan—Trunks.
The golden aura, the upstanding golden hair, and those piercing green pupils were burned into his memory. These characteristics were etched into his very DNA, the unmistakable traits of the warrior race that had haunted him for years.
And now, he was seeing that familiar golden glow again.
But it wasn't coming from Goku.
And it wasn't Vegeta.
It was… Krillin.
Frieza's eye twitched. He couldn't believe it. That bald Earthling—who he once crushed with a flick—was now enveloped in golden energy, standing tall, radiating the same terrifying power that once ended Frieza's reign.
More than anything, this transformation made absolutely no sense.
Frieza was no longer afraid of Super Saiyans. Not since his return and intensive months of training. He had prepared. He had evolved. His strength had soared far beyond his former limits. In his current state, he was confident—no, certain—he could defeat a Super Saiyan.
But this?
This wasn't supposed to happen.
Krillin wasn't a Saiyan. He didn't have the bloodline. He had no tail, no warrior heritage, no link to the proud Saiyan race.
"How… how can a non-Saiyan become a Super Saiyan?!" Frieza's voice cracked with disbelief.
He stared at Krillin as though the man were a ghost from a nightmare. His brain scrambled to make sense of the impossible. Had the rules changed? Was Saiyan blood no longer a requirement for transformation?
Had death itself gifted Krillin this power?
No... None of that made sense.
The legend of the Super Saiyan was supposed to be exclusive. And yet, here stood Krillin, bathing in golden light, his eyes glowing with a fierce resolve.
Krillin smirked at Frieza's confused face.
"Frieza," he said, his voice calm but filled with conviction. "You should be familiar with this form."
"You lost to Goku in this state. And Trunks ended your life in the same state."
He stepped forward, the ground cracking beneath his feet.
"I forgot to tell you before… but now, I can become a Super Saiyan too."
Krillin couldn't hide the satisfaction in his tone. The look on Frieza's face was priceless—pure disbelief, disbelief laced with frustration. It was better than anything he had imagined. For years, he had visualized what this moment would look like—how Frieza would react to seeing him, Krillin, standing as a Super Saiyan.
But reality had exceeded his expectations.
Frieza gritted his teeth. "Why?! How can you transform? You're not a Saiyan!"
Krillin's expression turned cold.
"How I did it doesn't matter. What matters is this…" He pointed at Frieza, fire blazing in his eyes. "I've waited for this moment for a long time. This time, I'll defeat you—with my own hands!"
Before Frieza could respond, Krillin rocketed forward, charging straight at him.
The old Krillin wouldn't have lasted a second against Frieza's power. But this new Krillin—this Super Saiyan Krillin—was different.
Frieza blinked as Krillin closed the gap in an instant, energy building rapidly in the Earthling's palms.
Krillin raised both hands, gathering power. The air distorted around him, and then—he brought his hands down.
A massive energy beam shot out, streaking toward Frieza.
Frieza vanished, dodging the blast with ease and reappearing behind Krillin.
He kicked—but Krillin was ready.
With sharp reflexes, Krillin twisted mid-air and blocked the kick with his forearm. Then, grabbing Frieza's leg with both hands, he spun in the air and hurled him away like a rag doll.
Before Frieza even landed, Krillin extended his arms forward.
"Take this!" he shouted.
A storm of energy blasts—the Prince's Barrage Technique—erupted from his hands, shooting toward Frieza like rain during a thunderstorm.
Each blast exploded on contact, engulfing the field in light and sound.
From a distance, Goku watched, amazed.
"Wow, Krillin's going all out right from the start!"
"Hmph," Vegeta scoffed. "Unlike you, Kakarot, not everyone likes to test the waters first."
He crossed his arms, eyes narrowing. "And don't forget, he died at Frieza's hands once. He has every reason to fight with everything he's got."
Goku nodded slowly. "Yeah… I get it."
Vegeta's gaze didn't waver. "If it were me, I'd be even more ruthless."
They both watched as Krillin's relentless assault continued.
But even as the explosions filled the battlefield, Vegeta noticed something important.
"Frieza's ki hasn't dropped."
Goku frowned. "You're right. He took all those hits, but… his energy's still strong."
"He's hiding more power," Vegeta said.
"And that's a good thing," Goku replied, smiling. "If Krillin beats him too easily, it won't be any fun."
Vegeta smirked. "You just want a turn."
"Hey, you do too!"
The two Saiyans looked at each other, both grinning now.
"But we can't fight him together," Goku added. "That'd be unfair."
"Unfair?" Vegeta scoffed. "Frieza wishes he had the qualifications for both of us."
Their attention returned to the battlefield.
Frieza was still standing, shrouded in smoke. Krillin, breathing slightly heavier, lowered his arms and waited.
He knew what was coming.
He had felt it—Frieza had taken all of those hits and barely flinched. Not because the attacks weren't powerful—but because Frieza was holding back.
And that was part of Krillin's plan.
He wanted to unleash everything up front—not just to vent his long-held anger, but to force Frieza to reveal his true strength.
The smoke began to clear.
Frieza stood tall, his body unscathed, his golden eyes locked on Krillin with simmering irritation.
"Impressive," he said, brushing dust off his shoulder. "You've improved, little bald one. But don't let this transformation inflate your ego."
He floated forward, energy crackling around him.
"I'll admit—I'm mildly impressed. You managed to surprise me. That doesn't happen often."
"But you want me to use my full strength?" Frieza's smirk returned. "Fine."
He raised his arms slightly, and his ki began to rise again.
"Let me show you just how wide the gap still is between us!"
A sudden shockwave burst from his body, causing the earth to quake. The air around him twisted, and a golden hue began to form.
Krillin narrowed his eyes, preparing himself.
Goku and Vegeta stepped forward, alert.
"This is it," Goku said. "He's transforming."
Vegeta clenched his fists. "Finally."
As Frieza's aura grew more intense, the ground beneath him cracked open. Rocks lifted into the air, suspended by the rising energy.
The golden light exploded outward.
"Here it comes…" Krillin muttered, taking a deep breath.
The rematch between Frieza and Earth's warriors had only just begun.
And this time, Krillin wasn't the one who would fall.
