Chapter 9 - Grandpa Makes the Decision

Cassius left the hospital and went back home.

As soon as he stepped in, he saw Frank and immediately asked, "Did she sign?"

Feeling a little guilty, Frank nervously shook his head.

Cassius's expression turned cold. "What does this woman want?"

Two hundred million wasn't enough for her? Just how greedy could she be?

Frank glanced at his boss's face and hesitantly said, "Maybe… maybe she's fallen for you."

Fallen for him? Just a moment ago, she was acting like Nevaeh?

Cassius sharply turned his head, his eyes like blades locking onto Frank. "What did she give you to make you defend her like this?"

Frank suddenly felt like he was standing naked in front of everyone.

Seeing the anger in Cassius's eyes, he realized he'd been exposed.

He quickly pulled out the divorce agreement and pointed at the back. "M-Mr. Cassius, it was Nevaeh. She said I was sick and gave me this prescription to help, so that's why…"

"You're really sick! Sick enough to forget who your real boss is!"

"I'm sorry!"

"Fix your mistake, or I'll replace you."

Frank sighed. "Got it…"

After Frank left, Cassius's phone rang.

Elizabeth's soft voice came through. "Cassius, can you come see me? I want to…"

"I know you saved me," Cassius's voice paused for a second, colder now. "Don't call me like this again. I'll give you everything you want."

In the hospital corridor, Nevaeh didn't take Cassius's words to heart. They were basically strangers thrown together for a reason.

This marriage was just an act. She'd never even dared to dream about anything real.

Smiling, she walked into grandfather's hospital room.

As soon as he saw her, the old man's face lit up. "Nevaeh, you're here!"

"Grandpa, why did you suddenly faint?" Nevaeh sat down, her face full of concern.

At the mention of fainting, the old man's smile faded, and he let out a cold snort. "That brat upset me. But don't worry, Nevaeh. As long as I'm around, he won't dare divorce you. If he even tries to bully you, tell me. I'll take care of it."

Her heart softened at his words. She was an orphan and only had her grandma.

Seeing how much grandfather cared made her feel warm, and also a little sad. She would be leaving in three days.

"Grandpa, let me check your pulse," Nevaeh said, grabbing his hand before he could answer and starting to examine him.

Since she wouldn't be around much longer, she had to understand his health now.

But what shocked her was that his body was completely fine. Not only did he have no illness, he was actually healthier than most guys in their forties.

Was Grandpa faking?

The old man awkwardly pulled his hand back and chuckled. "I'm not sick, just old. Got some usual aches and pains. Don't worry."

Nevaeh didn't call him out. She just smiled. "Grandpa, you've got some old arthritis in your legs. I'll get some medicine for you and help take care of it."

"Our Nevaeh can even practice medicine...amazing."

The old man didn't care much about his own health. Instead, he looked at her seriously and began giving advice. "Don't worry about me. You and Cassius need to look after each other. He's got a bad temper and keeps to himself, but his heart's not bad. If you really pay attention, you'll see it."

"Okay," Nevaeh nodded, standing up to leave.

She didn't want to lie to him. But she didn't want to disappoint him either. After thinking for a bit, she decided she should talk to Cassius honestly.

He didn't want to marry her, and she was only staying for a short while. Maybe if they talked properly, things between them would go a lot smoother.
