Chapter 3 - Chapter-3. (A Little Help Needed).

"Have you gone crazy?"

His eyes twitched, and something shifted in his body. The old cool attitude that he used till now has almost cracked. I could feel the same tense energy radiating off like that day.

His grip on the box tightened, and so did his jaw. "What do you mean?" He gritted out every word with such a tone that it almost made my skin crawl.

I opened my mouth about to reply when one side of his mouth curved into a smug, "You literally begged my grandparents to make this marriage happen, and now you say that I was the crazy one."

His accusation made my jaw hit the floor.

First of all, ouch.

Second of all, how dare he use that against me?

The only ounce of worry whoofed in the next moment, as I turned my expressions to cold...just like him. Folding my arms, I gave him a judgmental look as my gaze directed from his head to toe.

And for a moment, he stirred under my gaze. I don't know if it was true or just my crazy imagination, but I did not express it on my face.

I arched my one brow as I spoke, "I was wrong." His eyes sparkled as if he had won the Oscars, and the way his body was buffed almost made me scoff. He flipped his hair back in style as he said, "Of course, you should be. I..."

"You are not crazy. You are delusional, Dave Morris."

A pin drop silence filled the whole room, along with the awkward tension. It took almost ten seconds before Caroline broke the silence. She gasped as if she could not believe that I, Elena Kingsley, had just roasted him.

She covered her mouth, but a snort echoed through the room. I had a proud smile for a very long time as I took in the moment. In these past years, I never even used a high tone with him, and now I just roasted him. I enjoyed every bit of it, and it was multiplied seeing his reaction.

That little smug on his face wiped off, and instead he stared at me with a dumb founded expression. Maybe he couldn't believe that I would reply back to his taunt, but too bad. I wasn't the love-sick puppy anymore.

Not after he showed this rude behaviour, which I imagine how many times I would have accepted this behaviour.

"So, I suggest you leave this instant." With this, I tried to shut the door in his face when he stuck his hand out to stop me. "What in the world are you thinking?" My voice increased seeing his childish behaviour. He did not say anything but entered the apartment.

I pointed my finger at him, thinking of scaring him with the police tactic, when a scream echoed, "Wait!" All faces turned towards the entrance. "P..Please, wait." He huffed as he inhaled the air for his dear life.

He walked towards Dave and announced, "Elder Boss is looking for you, sir."

"I will, but let me.."

"I would not advise that, he ordered to get you as soon as possible. Please, the car is waiting for you at the front." He hurriedly spoke up as if he had a train to catch.

Dave stared at him with the same cold expression before he stepped out of the apartment. As soon as he walked out, he walked towards me.

He kept looking at the door with nervousness as if Dave would burst in the next moment. "Can we talk?" He whispered out.

"What is it, Josh? But tell me first, has he gone insane? He talked..." I stopped midway as I realized what I was about to say. Though I already announced to our family about our marital situation yet I did not want it announced to the whole world.

And telling Josh, who is also known to be the chatterbox, would be the same as telling the whole world with a speaker. So, instead, I used the word weirdly.

He sighed, shaking his head in disappointment, "Yeah, he's been a.." He again looked from his shoulder, checking if no one was listening to his words, and continued, "A freaking mess. I cannot even tell you how hectic my schedule has been after he got into that accident."

My eyes widened, and so did Caroline as she gasped in shock, "So it was true."

The next moment, Josh slapped his hand on his mouth as if he had just revealed that Santa was not real. "I did not just say that." He puts pressure on each and every word. He tried to pinch himself, trying to wake himself from the nightmare.

My eyes narrowed at him, taking slow steps toward him, trying to look like a predator, "Josh. Morgan." I called him out, "Tell me this instant what is going on."

"Miss Ele..." He tried to coax me, but I interrupted, "Don't Miss me and tell me. Now."

I was done being the oblivious one. I need to know what happened to this guy who accepted the divorce without batting his eye, but now came here with the ring and a marriage date.

Josh's shoulders slumped as if he, too, was tired of hiding things. He took a sigh as Caroline offered some water, which he chugged in one go. He also loosened his tie and ran his hand through his hair. I raised my eyebrows seeing his reaction.

Josh, who was known as the sophisticated cat lover. He always maintained his style. Even he cut his hair before it grew more than a millimeter. Now that he mostly looked like an overworked employee, I could sense the depth of the situation.

"He got into a car accident the day you announced the divorce and lost a specific period of time, which is why he thinks that you both are yet to be married." The revelation left the whole room silent. And I?

I don't even know what to say to him. He forgot the three years we spent.

Every time I think the situation can't be worsened, God proves me wrong in every way. Now, what is left? I have to be with him till he regains his memory.

The moment this thought came to my mind, Josh scratched the back of his neck as he mumbled out, "And we might also need your help."
