Tobirama Senju, the Second Hokage, was renowned worldwide for his Water Release Ninjutsu and criticized for developing many messy yet immensely powerful Kinjutsu. In life, he was an extremely intelligent and cunning man, but after his death, his jutsu laid hidden risks that eventually caused turmoil across the ninja world.
Tobirama's Water Release and forbidden techniques were particularly distinctive. However, the decisive technique he used in battle wasn't among these; it was the Flying Thunder God Technique. In a way, because Tobirama severely wounded Izuna Uchiha with the Flying Thunder God Slash—leading to his eventual death—the stalemate between the Senju and Uchiha clans broke, tipping the scales of victory toward the Senju clan.
He never held back when it came to underhanded tactics. Compared to his older brother, who wasn't particularly sharp-witted and was emotional and prone to discouragement, Tobirama was more like a genuine ninja. If only Tobirama had retained his personality while also possessing the same power as his older brother, peace across the ninja world might have been achieved long ago.
Of course, the ninja world might just as easily have been completely ruined already.
Now, the legendary [Flying Thunder God Technique], the ultimate skill capable of making any ninja famous throughout the shinobi world, simply fell into Haseo's hands like this… Nonsense! Who said he obtained it through favoritism? Didn't we say—it was a gift from someone who wouldn't take no for an answer!
Haseo was the last to lay eyes on the Second Hokage—and also the one who performed his cremation rites. Now, having acquired Tobirama's supreme-level ninjutsu, this must be what Sansho called "destiny."
However, Haseo now seriously questioned whether he could truly master such an advanced Space–Time Ninjutsu.
He hadn't forgotten the dizziness he felt when first reverse-summoned to Shikkotsu Forest—on some level, that alone proved his weakness against space-time-based techniques.
Well, maybe he could think of it like motion sickness—one person gets it, another doesn't. Actually, there was some logic to that. Throughout history, only two ninjas had ever fully mastered the Flying Thunder God Technique: Tobirama Senju and Minato Namikaze. As for the rest… better not mention them at all.
"I might as well give it a shot first."
Whatever happened, Haseo wouldn't let this chance slip away without at least giving it a try, so he decided to start studying this jutsu.
Luckily, the world remained peaceful at the moment. Kagenami had stabilized its operations, currently only tasked with setting up protective barriers around the Daimyo's Castle—a job already assigned to Shikou. As for Haseo's other duties, apparently only overseeing the construction of the Valley of the End's landscape remained. But truthfully, even that couldn't really be considered a proper ninja assignment anymore.
So unless the Third Hokage assigned Haseo any new missions, he would have ample free time—ideal for mastering new techniques and strengthening his power.
The future continuously changed. Haseo couldn't guarantee the next Great Ninja World War would occur on schedule, nor could he assume there wouldn't be one at all. Compared to such uncertain futures, enhancing his own strength was clearly the most rational choice.
Then, Haseo secluded himself within Shikkotsu Forest… Hmm, Paratrooper Unit One, Haseo Yu, reporting in.
"Perceiving distant spatial coordinates through a single technique at the temporal disjunction point, and then using chakra as driving energy to enable the practitioner's instantaneous spatial jump—you see, isn't [Flying Thunder God] just that simple?" Haseo explained to Katsuyu, who was clearly a very dedicated listener—it was gentle-natured and played the straight man perfectly.
"Then, Lord Haseo, can others learn this technique?"
"Nope, they can't."
Three days later, Umbrella Trooper No.1 crashed.
At first glance, it sounded simple enough—perceiving space information through a technique. But in practice? Totally freaking absurd—you've gotta be kidding me. The information transmitted by this technique was incredibly complex. Whether a ninja could interpret these signals depended entirely on 'feeling.' Those with talent would get the right sensation, which meant they had the basics needed to teleport anywhere they wanted.
Without such intuitive perception ability, one had no choice but to convert incoming data into straightforward XYZ three-axis coordinates through complicated mathematical formulas. The Second Hokage left detailed instructions about [Flying Thunder God], complete with explicit conversion formulas, so Haseo could also calculate positioning... Well, if given half an hour, he'd finally manage to calculate a single set of coordinates.
So what if you finish the calculation? It's practically useless! [Flying Thunder God] requires instant calculation capability. Unlike those powerful techniques capable of stringing together different hand seals, Haseo's math skills weren't significantly better than someone who might mistake four teams of four men as twelve people.
What about that whole 'heir of the Second Hokage' thing? Even couldn't master [Flying Thunder God]?
After actual exposure to [Flying Thunder God], Haseo finally understood how incredible the Fourth Hokage's [Flying Thunder God - Second Step] truly was. The positional data transmitted by [Flying Thunder God] itself was already abnormally complex, yet being able to precisely capture this constantly changing information, instantly converting and then executing jumps meant only one thing—the Fourth Hokage was literally born for this technique.
When using [Flying Thunder God], you might very well end up flying yourself apart into multiple pieces. That would be real, freakin' crash—like, literally torn apart mid-air.
"So what should we do, Lord Haseo? Should we...give up?" Katsuyu asked again.
Haseo thought carefully for a while before answering, "Let's proceed step by step, starting from the basics first... Katsuyu, have you ever heard about displacement method?"
"?"
Katsuyu had lived for thousands of years, but never actually attended middle school physics class.
"The positional data conveyed through [Flying Thunder God]'s technique is immensely complex, but we can actually simplify this process. For example, if I want to teleport somewhere, and there happens to be another object exactly matching my height, mass, and other conditions at that location, exchanging positions with it would almost completely eliminate [Flying Thunder God]'s complex calculations."
"What does this mean...? What kind of 'object' are you referring to, Lord Haseo?"
"Naturally, it's Shadow Clones."
The invaluable lesson left behind by The Seventh for all ninja is called "Stay true to your original vow." When a technique can't be mastered no matter how hard you work at it, just reflect on your original purpose. You'll realize that nothing beats having a Shadow Clone handy. And if one's not enough, just make another!
"As for my own case," Haseo explained, "the positional information I occupy and my spatial intuition are consistent with myself. By using Shadow Clones as coordinate points instead of relying on the Flying Thunder God techniques, the difficulty of this technique drops significantly... Of course, this is only theoretical. Everything still requires substantial modification to the technique."
For Haseo, not only was Flying Thunder God — Second Step extremely difficult, even the First Step was tough as well. Yet he was unwilling to give up on such an incredible ninjutsu. So... he might as well start practicing with Step 0.5.
"Hmm, the name should be 'Flying Thunder God ver0.5 Internal Beta Youth Edition.'"
At this point, Katsuyu had figured out exactly what Haseo wanted to do. However... even if teleportation between clones was possible, what good would it do?
Ninjutsu typically gets tougher and stronger after modifications. Yet Haseo was preparing to take the reverse approach, making a divine ninjutsu feel surprisingly down-to-earth.
But that was fine. Didn't this perfectly confirm his identity as the 'Master of Kagenami'?
P.S.
Please show your support.
The 24-hour subscription rate for this new chapter has truly dropped to my psychological limit. Seriously, please help out a little.
Some things are just reality. On the first day of release, because I published eight chapters late at night, the subscription rate of the first chapter was slightly higher, but then the following seven chapters immediately saw a drop of about a quarter. Then the two chapters I published in the morning experienced another rise in subscriptions. What does that indicate?
Even though I've been begging for first subscriptions, and each chapter costs only ten cents, honestly, I don't think it's necessary.
My author account is a basic one, and for easy access to chapter comments, if you fully subscribe now, you'll rank around 600 in fan value... That speaks volumes too.
I can accept having no moon tickets, but even recommendation tickets are missing. It feels like there's little else I can do.
This is a fanfiction work with low subscription numbers anyway, so there's no reason to implement anti-piracy measures. It all depends on everyone's conscious support.
