Chapter 2 - Starting Out

After a night of not-so-well-rested sleep and nonpeaceful dreams, Ryker wakes up on the couch groggy hoping when he opens his eyes he will be back in his fire tower ready to keep a lookout, but his hopes are dashed as he sees the room he was magically taken too "guess it was… real" he says sorrow clear in his voice

[would host like to start work] The voice rings out in his head seeing nothing else to do besides sulk he rips his pen and gets up "Sure what else can I do" [host should refrain from smoking terra products as they are unclean and impure] "suck it" he takes another rip before heading to the door "where do I go and what do I need to do for… work" he sighs still not fully wanting to cooperate with his head in so much disarray

[sudden quests: stock the store, reward: connection to first realm] Slowly moving to the door that is beside the kitchen he opens it before heading down a flight of wooden stairs into a rectangle-shaped storage room with concert flooring crates and cloth bags sat in one corner of the room near the only other door in the room. Walking up to the crate first, he rips off the lid, "Coconuts? What in the world?" expecting more exotic fruit, he opens the bag and finds tons of bright orange-red apples, looking in the final box he finds bunches of blue bananas deciding not to question about the magical bananas in hopes of not cursing his mind to exploded with more information.

he grabs the crate and carries it past the door into the next room where he bets the main shop is, opening the door greets him with a freezer to one side and a wall of standup coolers for drinks on the right looking straight ahead and to the left he sees produce bins on both sides of an empty shelf and in the far corner a counter with a scanner and a simple computer "this is pretty small… to be a supermarket or hypermarket" [host will need to complete quests to expand products rooms and space to become the best store in every realm]

not bothering to reply to the voice, he brings the bananas to one of the bins before setting a divider to split the space between the apples and bananas. He sets them in before fetching the other to produce apples, sharing a bin with the bananas and the coconuts, going into the other bin after removing the half shelf that stops the produce from falling to the bottom of the bin, slowly throwing the coconuts in, filling it to the top.

[quest complete, reward connection to the first realm: generating a list of currently accessible realms][realms located, select one world of the three choices:

Cindralok, a dying world where deities had a massive war before abandoning it, leaving this steampunk world in disarray.

Thalorwyn, a world of cities on top of massive beasts that roam the dead zone below them, limiting the meeting of others until these giant beasts pass each other

Glaxa realm, a world held by the human empire of Melchoir, a world filled with farms and cities, with many beautiful lakes]

Quickly thinking, and disregarding Thalorwyn as much as he finds steampunk cool. Ryker wouldn't want to go to a dying world. especially if the people there are likely wanting to leave the planet themselves. Leaving himself with two options left, if he goes to Thalorwyn, he could probably set up a constant customer base, but what happens if the beast they are living on dies, and they have to get off, then they wouldn't have the store anymore. "Guess that leaves me with Glaxa system" [choice complete, storefront is generating location set as city of Kaelvyrn] "yo voice the windows didn't change" Ryker says, trying to look out them to see the city. [The windows can show any of the locations the store is connected to may be changed from the computer]

As Ryker walks to the counter, he flips the lock on the door and turns on a neon sign that's in the window to its side, humming its tune as the letters spell out open start to glow to life "Fancy" he mutters as he sits down on a stool behind the counter moving the mouse around like a rat on powder to find the cursor before setting in to to see what it can do noticing six unique icons being: a window, shopping cart, broom and mop, a quarter note, a figure, and a law book. "Dang voice giving me tons of options, where is boobgle brome at though?" he sighs before checking their functions, starting with the law book, after clicking it opens a page titled Store Rules that's completely blank.

"Guess ill have to make the rules then" Faster than lightning, Ryker starts typing the rules that come to his mind: 1 Do not fight in the store, 2 Be respectful to staff, 3 Everyone can buy a max of 3 of the same product a day, 4 all sales are final. Thinking of what else he can do, he asks the voice, "How do they buy anything? I don't know the rates of currency for change or product prices." [The system turns currencies into hypermarket coins that can be used to buy or pay for services, and scanning the item at the computer shows its cost and effects]

Coming up with a final 5th rule, for now, conversions to store coins are final. Looking at the list, he thinks it's good. Next up on his list of options, he's most interested in the quarter note, clicking it opens a library of music, all seemingly locked. "Hey system, how do I get the music?" Without delay, the voice responds [the host is given 40% of the store revenue from sales, the rest goes to the system to pay employees and keep the building managed, the music shop and the personal shop items can be bought by the host themself]

"Oh, cool, so I'm not gonna be broke at least…" Ryker's mood turns sour as he remembers all the things he lost, including his car that had just been bought for when they got done with there fire watch session, deciding to distract himself with the pleasure of window shopping he clicks on the shopping cart which he figures is the personal shop the voice was talking about "you know I can't really keep calling you voice do you have a name?" [You may call me system, hyper, voice, or anything you like, host] "Guess you will be known as hyper from now on." Ryker says, clicking through the lists, seeing books, weapons, pills, and tools for hundreds of professions.

"At least I won't be bored" he sighs and closes the store, checking out the others but not being too useful at the moment the figure showing past transactions of customers, and the broom and mop open a small hatch in front of the counter that releases a little disk that cleans the floor before returning, and finally he goes to the window seeing 3 options a space option the white that is currently in use or lastly one labeled Kaelyvyrn. Clicking on it, the windows next to the door suddenly change to a street lined with stones and simple shops across the street, people walking by with family or friends, talking, though Ryker couldn't hear them. "Looks nice out there," he comments waiting for someone to come into his for-now humble store.
