Hearing Ibiki's words, Kuroko seemed to have found the solution. The other members of the Demon Slayer Corps began to coordinate their attacks against the three enemies. As predicted, only through swift, relentless strikes could they inflict lasting damage. However, even with the strength of the Demon Slayer Corps, dealing with them here was proving to be a struggle.
"Damn it, these guys are impossible to kill!" Kuroko retreated once again. The bodies of the three enemies in front of him regenerated time and time again, growing stronger with each recovery. "As long as we're on top of this Gelel mineral vein, killing them won't be easy."
Kuroko unleashed several more slashes, but they didn't cause any significant trouble for Kamira and her two companions.
Hatake Kusuo watched this scene quietly. He didn't blame Kuroko. After all, in the original story, it took Naruto in a frenzy, concentrating the Gelel energy into a Rasengan, to finally kill Haido. Before that, even when Naruto had smashed Haido to pieces, Haido had instantly reformed without any lasting effects.
"Attack!" Kuroko gritted his teeth and waved his hand, leading the others in a simultaneous assault.
In his eagerness to win, Kuroko failed to notice that Kamira's body had already flickered behind him. Seeing this, Ibiki Morino quickly drew his own blade to help, but the distance was too great; he couldn't intervene in time.
Just as everyone thought Kuroko was doomed to fall at Kamira's hands, a blade sliced through the air.
Puchi...
Kamira's body was instantly diced into countless pieces.
"Sun Breathing..."
Hatake Kusuo had, against all expectations, personally intervened.
Having been saved from the crisis, Kuroko looked at Kusuo with an apologetic expression. However, the two other women Haido had brought exchanged a glance. They simultaneously abandoned their original targets and charged toward Kusuo.
"ROAR!" one of the larger women bellowed, while the other used the distraction to lunge at him.
"You overestimate yourselves," Kusuo muttered.
The second woman leaped high into the air. The two of them, one from above and one from below, launched a pincer attack. Their fists, crackling with lightning, flew toward Kusuo's body.
But then, something strange happened. Their powerful, charged attacks both struck the shattered remains of the sealing formation on the floor.
"What?"
Kusuo instantly appeared behind them and swung his sword. With just a single slash, one of them fell to the ground, her head separated from her body. The Gelel mineral essence within her was shattered, leaving no trace of its original form.
Seeing this, Haido frowned. His elite soldiers, trained over many years, were now mostly dead, with only one remaining.
"What is this power? How can it be stronger than mine?"
The last survivor, Ranke, stared at her own hands in disbelief. Haido had taught her that as long as she had faith, her power would be limitless! But today, two of her comrades had died right before her eyes.
"Why? Why is this happening?" Ranke clenched her fists tightly. Just as she was about to unleash a full-power attack on Kusuo, a sharp voice called out from behind her.
"Ranke, come back." The speaker was Haido.
Watching his generals die one after another, Haido finally felt a twinge of reluctance. However, this wasn't compassion for his subordinate. It was a cheap, simple pity, the kind one might feel for a dog at one's side.
Hearing Haido's voice, Ranke froze for a moment, then quickly retreated a few steps, clearing a path for him. "Lord Haido." There was still a hint of worry in her eyes!
Watching this, Kusuo began to feel a sliver of sympathy for Ranke. They had been brainwashed for far too long.
Haido's body moved in a flash. Strengthened by the concentrated Gelel ore, his body had reached an unprecedented level of power. A formidable aura burst forth from him.
Seeing this, Kusuo felt a secret flicker of excitement. Haido's strength was growing more formidable. He wondered if such an opponent could provide him with a boost for his missions.
"If only he were a bit stronger."
Kusuo was somewhat disappointed with Haido's power level. Haido wasn't exceptionally strong at the moment; he was merely hard to kill. In terms of pure attack power, he was leagues below Obito Uchiha.
It was this dismissive look from Kusuo that completely enraged Haido.
"You dare to look down on me?" Haido roared, planting both feet firmly. The ground cracked under the force, forming two deep pits.
BOOM!
Haido's body shot forward from his spot like a cannonball. In the next second, his fist was right in front of Kusuo's face. Kusuo didn't bother to dodge. This punch contained not only ordinary taijutsu but also the unique power of the Gelel vein.
"Too weak."
Kusuo slowly uttered the two words.
CRASH!
Kusuo slammed Haido's body heavily into the ground. Several parts of Haido's body were instantly crushed, but with the help of the Gelel vein, his wounds healed in an instant.
"You..." Haido looked up again, only to realize that what had just hit him was Kusuo's scabbard!
"You won't even draw your sword? The height of arrogance!" Haido stood up, his body now even taller thanks to the nourishment of the Gelel vein.
"Your strength isn't worthy of me drawing my sword." As he spoke, Kusuo drew his blade, then forcefully plunged it into the ground. Holding only the scabbard, he gestured to Haido. "Come on."
Haido glared at Kusuo, his hands clenched into tight fists. This was an insult! A profound humiliation! In all his travels, Haido was always treated with respect. His strength was formidable even outside this place. Now, within the Gelel vein, bathed in its power, it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say he had reached Kage-level. After all, with a limitless supply of chakra and a nearly immortal body, he was not an easy opponent for anyone.
But, as Haido prepared to strike, he regretted it!
