Hatake Kusuo took the pot containing Gaara directly back to his home and sealed it in the basement. With Shion's sealing jutsu in place, and being located inside Konoha, it was arguably the safest place in the entire ninja world.
"Kusuo-kun, where did you go?" Hinata asked. Her Rinnegan eyes, mesmerizing and beautiful, seemed to have adapted very well.
"I had to take care of some business in the village, then I went out for a bit. By the way, where's Shion?" He hadn't forgotten that he had fled in panic to escape Shion's bold request.
"Shion-neechan and my sister went out shopping. They're not back yet," Hinata said.
Good, they went shopping. Kusuo was genuinely afraid of running into her. What if she cornered him at home and wouldn't let him go? Even if he reluctantly agreed, he would have to share the love equally, and Hinata would need her share too.
"Since they're both out, let's go to our room," Kusuo said, looking at Hinata's increasingly radiant face and her maturing S-line figure. He pulled the girl's shoulder.
"Mmph..." With a kick of his foot, the bedroom door was shut.
...
A long time later, Hinata walked out, her face flushed red. She wiped her small mouth with her hand and hurried away.
Kusuo stretched comfortably, a smile on his face. That had been nice. The two of them had basically made some substantial progress.
"Hinata is so gentle..." he sighed. But Kusuo hadn't forgotten what else he needed to do. He went to the secret chamber and released the spirit of the One-Tail Shukaku, controlling its size to that of a normal pet.
"You... you stay away from me!" Shukaku trembled as he watched Kusuo walk towards him step by step. He desperately wanted to return to the sealing pot, but he found that the sealing jutsu here was ridiculously strong; he couldn't get back in!
"What are you afraid of? I'm not going to eat you!" Kusuo snapped with a frown. Unfortunately, the fear he had instilled in Shukaku was too profound. His reprimand only made Shukaku more agitated, and he started chattering noisily. Most critically, Shukaku's uniquely shrill voice was enough to make one's skin crawl.
Kusuo flicked his thumb, and his sword instantly slid from its sheath, revealing a cold glint. The sharp sword energy made Shukaku's skin tingle, and his non-existent hair stood on end. The effect was immediate; Shukaku didn't dare to make another peep.
"Alright, tell me. What's the deal with you Tailed Beasts' chakra? If it's extracted, what are the consequences?" Kusuo asked, sheathing his sword after Shukaku had quieted down.
"Wh-what?" Shukaku was startled by his words. "It can't be separated! A Tailed Beast and its chakra are one and the same. If they're forcibly separated, the spirit will eventually perish!" He thought Kusuo was going to experiment on him, separating his spirit from his main body of chakra.
In fact, Kusuo had considered it, but he later dismissed the idea. He now had two main plans. The first was to collect a large amount of chakra in preparation for attempting to achieve the Ketsuryūgan (Bloodline Snare). The second was to wait for Obito to start another war. He had his reasons for letting Obito develop. Ordinary Kage-level powerhouses provided too little increase to his character synchronization rate. He needed opponents of the super-Kage level to provide a significant boost. Unlocking the template to one hundred percent would undoubtedly grant a terrifying power-up.
So, the two plans didn't conflict; they complemented each other. First, he would raise the template to one hundred percent, then use the system-enhanced power to achieve the immortal Ketsuryūgan. This was Kusuo's entire plan. Before that, he needed to help Obito collect enough Tailed Beast chakra while also placing certain restrictions on him. Otherwise, a full Six Paths-level Obito would be genuinely difficult to deal with.
"What I mean is, can a portion of your Tailed Beast chakra be separated?" This idea was inspired by the Nine-Tails' Yin and Yang properties.
Shukaku's small black eyes darted around, his thoughts unreadable. He immediately replied, "No way!"
SWISH! Kusuo's sword was instantly out of its sheath.
"Okay, okay, it's possible!" Shukaku immediately wilted in fear.
"That's more like it. Now tell me, if I want to intercept a portion of your chakra, what do I need to do?" Seeing that Kusuo wasn't faking it, Shukaku asked tentatively, "Are you really going to do this?"
Kusuo gave him a cool glance. "What do you think?"
Shukaku shivered at his gaze. He then told Kusuo everything he knew about separating Tailed Beast chakra, a process that took a full hour.
"So that's how it is. I still need to work on your spirit to separate out a large amount of chakra," Kusuo realized, rubbing his chin thoughtfully.
Shukaku was terrified, cowering in a corner. "You said you wouldn't touch my spirit."
Seeing Shukaku's state, Kusuo chuckled. "Of course I'll keep my word. But I still need the necessary chakra. Are you going to do it yourself, or should I?"
"I'll do it! I'll do it!" Shukaku yelped, jolting in panic.
After a short while, Kusuo walked out of the basement with a scroll in his hand. As soon as he returned to the room on the ground floor, he saw Shion and Hanabi, who had just returned from shopping. The two of them were pulling on a still-blushing Hinata, asking her all sorts of questions.
Kusuo couldn't help but facepalm. It had been so long, why was Hinata still in a state of shy blushing?
Hanabi, wise beyond her years, seemed to have guessed something. She looked at him resentfully and said, "Big brother, did you and big sister do something... intimate?"
"No," Kusuo denied it outright, his face perfectly calm. He wasn't lying, after all.
"No?" Hanabi was very puzzled. From what she knew of her sister and brother-in-law, a normal little squabble wouldn't make her sister brush her teeth for so long. "That's not right! Big brother, you must be lying!" Hanabi's feminine intuition told her something was off about Kusuo, but she had no proof.
At this point, how could Shion not guess what had happened? She had been asking Hinata, but Hinata just kept blushing and shaking her head with a mouthful of water, "Mmph, mmph," as if it were the most shameful thing in the world.
Shion got up and walked over to Kusuo. She looked up at him slightly and sniffed the air delicately with her small nose. Kusuo felt a little guilty. 'Could it be that priestesses have enhanced olfactory senses?'
Sure enough, after a few sniffs, Shion looked at him resentfully and said, "You'd rather waste it than give it to me?"
