Kitazawa stepped forward and bowed slightly.
The two bouquets of white chrysanthemums he had bought, along with Kurenai, had already been offered to the war heroes at the recent funeral.
"Let's go." Tsunade waited for him to finish bowing, then said, "It's almost time. Let's go have lunch."
"Eat at home?" Kitazawa looked at her and asked.
"I want to drink." Tsunade met his gaze and said.
"This is a difficult matter," Kitazawa looked troubled and said. "Shizune-senpai definitely won't agree, and you have to work this afternoon."
Tsunade just looked at him without speaking.
"Then I'll go to work for you?" Kitazawa blinked and asked.
"Good, I didn't misjudge you." Tsunade's lips curved slightly, and she raised her hand to pat his shoulder.
The two of them arrived at an izakaya.
"Lady Tsunade, the first drink, I toast you," Kitazawa raised his glass and said. "Congratulations on becoming the Fifth Hokage."
"There's nothing to congratulate." Tsunade pouted, clinked glasses with him, and then drained her drink.
"Lady Tsunade doesn't seem to be in high spirits," Kitazawa put down his glass and asked. "Want to gamble with drinks?"
"Come on!" Tsunade's spirits lifted as she said, "I'm going to get you drunk today!"
"Why do you want to get me drunk?" Kitazawa twitched his lips and asked.
"I've never seen you drunk, and I want to know if you'll go crazy when you're drunk." Tsunade had a mischievous expression and said, "That would definitely be interesting."
"I win every time we gamble with drinks," Kitazawa said with a smile. "I doubt you'll ever see me drunk."
"Damn it!" Tsunade looked annoyed and said, "What are you being arrogant about? I'm going to win against you today!"
"Then let's begin." Kitazawa extended his hands, and they started playing rock-paper-scissors.
Tsunade took a deep breath, bit her finger, and very seriously extended her hands.
But clearly, no matter how serious she was, it wouldn't help.
"Please drink, Lady Tsunade," Kitazawa raised his hand and said.
"I don't believe it—again!" After drinking a glass, Tsunade played rock-paper-scissors with Kitazawa again.
Glass after glass.
Ten minutes later, Tsunade's cheeks were flushed from drinking too much, and she looked completely tipsy.
"Lady Tsunade, let's pause for a moment and eat some food," Kitazawa put down his glass and suggested.
"No!" Tsunade bent down, grabbed his shoulders, and said unwillingly, "Again!"
Kitazawa felt a blur of fair skin swaying before his eyes. He shook his head and said, "Let's eat some food before continuing."
"Do you believe I'll throw you out right now?" Tsunade glared at him and asked.
"If you throw me out, who will gamble with drinks with you? Who will go to work for you?" Kitazawa struggled to avert his gaze, looking at her face instead, and asked.
"You!" Tsunade's expression stiffened.
After two seconds of staring, she sat back down and mumbled, "Eat then, eat!"
After speaking, she picked up her chopsticks and stuffed food into her mouth, quickly puffing out her cheeks.
Kitazawa couldn't help but smile. Quite cute.
"When does next week's Jonin vote begin?" Kitazawa picked up a piece of fried shrimp and asked.
He had classes next week. Except for Monday, there would be time conflicts.
"Mon... Monday," Tsunade chewed as she answered, her voice sounding muffled.
"That's perfect then." Kitazawa nodded and said, "I don't need to ask for leave from the Academy."
As for the village vote, that had nothing to do with him.
"If... if you're too busy, you can... You can send a Shadow Clone," Tsunade licked the corner of her mouth, her face flushed, and said.
"Of course, I have to be there in person for such an important matter," Kitazawa said with a smile.
"It's... It's just a formality anyway." Tsunade raised her glass and said, "Pour me a drink!"
"I'll give you a congratulatory gift then." Kitazawa poured her a drink and said, "You'll definitely like it."
"Is... is that so?" Tsunade's face broke into a brilliant smile, and she said, "It's very difficult to make me like something."
After she spoke, she tilted her head back and downed a glass of wine. Drops of liquid ran down the corner of her mouth, sliding along her fair skin.
The originally cold wine became warm again.
"What day is the Hokage Inauguration Ceremony?" Kitazawa withdrew his gaze and asked again.
"Saturday," Tsunade put down her glass, her eyes a little hazy, and said, "There... there will be more villagers and Ninja available."
"Indeed." Kitazawa picked up a piece of fried fish and placed it in her bowl, saying.
Tsunade straightened up and shook her head. With her movements, her clothes showed a defined elasticity.
Kitazawa stared blankly.
"Let's continue gambling with drinks!" Tsunade bit into the fried fish and said, "I'm going to win against you today!"
"How about we drink another time?" Kitazawa looked at her slightly trembling body and asked.
"What kind of talk is that?" Tsunade glared at him and said, "Drinking should be done all at once until you're satisfied!"
Kitazawa, helpless, could only continue playing rock-paper-scissors with her.
In less than five minutes, Tsunade had drunk six more glasses.
She swayed and then collapsed onto the table, her clothes pressed into a flattened curve by her weight.
"Drink... keep drinking!" Tsunade raised her glass to her mouth.
But because she was currently lying down, her posture was wrong, making it difficult to drink.
She simply stuck out her tongue, like a cat, licking the wine.
Kitazawa subconsciously swallowed. The scene before him was too impactful.
A mature and voluptuous woman, her face flushed, her eyes unfocused, licking wine. It was truly full of sexiness and temptation.
"Lady Tsunade, let me take you home to rest," Kitazawa composed himself and said.
"I... I don't need to rest!" Tsunade straightened up again, shoved a glass of wine to Kitazawa's mouth, and said, "You drink too!"
The glass was half-full because she had just licked half of it.
"We'll drink next time," Kitazawa grabbed her wrist and said.
"Next time... next time, you say this every time we drink!" Tsunade snorted lightly and said, "You... you're too weak!"
"You're clearly already drunk, and you're calling me weak?" Kitazawa took the glass from her hand, drank it, and said, "The wine's gone, let's go home."
"No!" Tsunade leaned back, resting against the seat, and said.
Kitazawa looked at her for a moment, then simply cleared the wine from the table.
"Eh? Wait!" Tsunade quickly stood up, grabbed his hand, and said somewhat angrily, "Get the wine out!"
But because she couldn't stand steadily while drunk, she stumbled right into his arms.
"We'll go back and drink," Kitazawa supported her waist and said.
"You... you better not lie to me!" Tsunade leaned against his embrace, asking in a loose manner.
"Let's go." Kitazawa smiled gently and said, "You'll know if I lied to you once we get home."
"I... I'll trust you this once." Tsunade poked him with her finger, let go of him, and walked out, her body swaying slightly.
Kitazawa quickly followed her.
"Drinking with you is good, better than Shizune," Tsunade said as a gust of wind outside sobered her up a bit.
"Shizune-senpai would be sad to hear that," Kitazawa couldn't help but laugh.
"Whose fault is it that she never lets me drink to my heart's content?" Tsunade said righteously.
"Shizune-senpai is also doing it for your own good," Kitazawa coughed lightly and said.
"Hmph!" Tsunade glanced at him but didn't retort.
"Lady Tsunade," Kitazawa suddenly remembered something and asked, "I'm going to work for you this afternoon. Is there anything I should pay attention to?"
"No... nothing," Tsunade thought for a moment, shook her head, and said, "If... if there is, just go find Shikaku."
The two chatted and walked, quickly arriving home.
"Kitazawa." Tsunade stood at the door, leaning against it, looking at him.
"What's wrong?" Kitazawa met her gaze and asked, "Is there anything else?"
"I'll give you a gift." Tsunade suddenly smiled and said, "This will increase your luck."
"Luck?" Kitazawa's lips twitched. Do you have anything to do with luck?
Tsunade walked up to him, raised her head, and looked at him. She extended her hand, beckoned, and said, "You're too tall, come down a bit."
Kitazawa paused slightly.
He suddenly realized. Could this be Tsunade's forehead kiss from the original story?
The First Hokage's necklace plus Tsunade's forehead kiss — he felt he was completely maxed out. He'd have to pick an auspicious day just to go out.
Kitazawa bent down.
Tsunade reached out and placed her hands on his shoulders. She looked at Kitazawa, her eyes a little unfocused.
She bit her red and luscious lips.
She suddenly remembered the beautiful dream Kitazawa had woven while treating her hemophobia — and his warm embrace after the treatment ended.
Tsunade, as if possessed, kissed him.
Suddenly, her eyes widened. She froze in place, completely sobered up.
A kiss on the forehead and a kiss on the lips had completely different meanings.
Tsunade looked at Kitazawa, feeling her heart pound rapidly. A feeling she had never experienced before surged through her.
After a few seconds of stunned silence, she pushed Kitazawa away and turned to enter the house.
She closed the door, leaned against it, and gasped for air.
How could this happen? Tsunade raised her hand to her mouth.
Outside the door, Kitazawa subconsciously exhaled. How did a forehead kiss turn into a real kiss?
He hesitated for a moment, then didn't go back to find Tsunade. He turned and walked towards the Hokage Building.
"This wasn't a loss; I even managed to break the death kiss," Kitazawa smiled as he entered the Hokage Office.
"Kitazawa? Why are you here? Where's Lady Tsunade?" Shizune saw him and immediately asked cautiously, "Did she go gambling again?"
"No," Kitazawa immediately made up an excuse and said, "I asked Lady Tsunade to help me finalize the last step of the limb regeneration Medical Ninjutsu."
"The last step?" Shizune was stunned for a moment and exclaimed, "If it really succeeds, this will benefit all Ninja."
After all, any Ninja could experience intense battles and lose an arm or a leg. If they had a Medical Ninjutsu for limb regeneration, they wouldn't have to worry anymore.
"Lady Tsunade thinks so too," Kitazawa said without changing his expression. "I'll be working for her this afternoon."
"Mm." Shizune nodded, no longer suspicious, and said, "Then have a seat."
"It's not appropriate for me to sit in the Hokage's chair," Kitazawa raised an eyebrow and said.
"Are you not interested in the position of Hokage?" Shizune retorted.
"Lady Tsunade hasn't officially become Hokage yet, and we're already discussing this?" Kitazawa stepped forward and teased, "Shizune-senpai, you're plotting something."
"I think you could become the Sixth Hokage," Shizune smiled and said.
"That's too far off to talk about." Kitazawa looked at the documents on the table and said, "Let's work first."
Time slowly passed.
The afternoon quickly went by.
"Your work efficiency is good — better than Lady Tsunade's," Shizune praised him.
"You and Lady Tsunade really do hurt each other," Kitazawa paused slightly and said.
He was thinking of Tsunade's evaluation of Shizune after they finished drinking at noon.
"What mutual harm?" Shizune let out a soft "eh" and asked.
"Nothing." Kitazawa changed the subject and asked, "What are the plans for tonight? My place?"
"That works too," Shizune thought for a moment and said, "Then I'll go buy groceries."
"I won't say any more polite words; I'll go home and wait for you first," Kitazawa stood up and said.
"When you get home, go check on Lady Tsunade first," Shizune clenched her fists and said, "If she's not there and ran off to a casino, I will not let her off lightly!"
"You're really well-suited to be the Hokage's Assistant," Kitazawa couldn't help but smile and said, "See you later."
He left the Hokage Office.
---
After returning home, he went to the next door. He hesitated for two seconds at the door, then raised his hand and knocked.
But after waiting for a moment, Tsunade didn't open the door.
"Did she really go to a casino?" Kitazawa thought about it, took out his key, and opened the door.
He took off his shoes and walked into the living room.
Kitazawa arrived at Tsunade's bedroom door. The door was not closed.
He saw Tsunade lying on the bed at a glance. She hadn't taken off her clothes, just sprawled out ungracefully, fast asleep.
Kitazawa subconsciously glanced at the clothes rising and falling with her breathing. Four words appeared in his mind: highest while lying down.
Kitazawa withdrew his gaze, stood in place, and knocked on the door.
"Which bastard is it?" Tsunade's displeased voice rang out.
"It's me, the bastard," Kitazawa said with a smile.
Tsunade's eyes immediately opened. She sat up and rubbed her brow. The memories from before she fell asleep rushed back into her mind.
Her face instantly stiffened, and she subconsciously bit her red lips.
"Lady Tsunade, Shizune-senpai went to buy groceries; we're eating at our place tonight," Kitazawa said.
"Mm." Tsunade waved her hand and said, "You go back first; I'll be there shortly."
"Don't be too late, so Shizune-senpai doesn't get suspicious." Kitazawa reminded her, then turned and left.
"As expected, he's thick-skinned." Tsunade watched Kitazawa act as if nothing had happened and couldn't help but let out a soft snort.
But she quickly regained her composure. After all, she was Tsunade.
Night fell.
Kitazawa, Tsunade, Shizune, Kurenai, Karin, and her mother gathered for dinner.
It was the same as usual, with no major differences.
A night passed, and it was a new week.
---
Monday.
The Jonin were unusually lively, because today was the long-awaited Jonin vote.
Since Konoha Village was established, there had only been four Jonin votes; this was the fifth.
"I should have applied for the Jonin exam as soon as the war ended," Kurenai said with a regretful look.
Since she wasn't a Jonin, she couldn't participate in the Jonin vote.
"Anyway, the outcome is already decided, so it doesn't make any difference whether I participate or not," Kitazawa said with a smile.
"There's still a difference," Kurenai retorted, giving him a look. "At least it shows her our support in front of Lady Tsunade."
"If you truly want to support her, you can become the first Jonin after she becomes Hokage," Kitazawa suggested after a moment's thought.
"That's a good idea!" Kurenai's eyes lit up. "I'll apply next week. By then, I should have already learned Wind Release: Rasengan!"
"Then I wish you success in advance," Kitazawa said, picking up his milk.
With Kurenai's current strength, becoming a Jonin wouldn't be difficult.
Besides genjutsu, she had also mastered Sealing Technique, chakra-enhanced strength, and ninjutsu like Wind Release: Rasengan.
Her overall strength had already met the Jonin standard.
"Just don't forget our bet," Kurenai said with a smile.
"I haven't forgotten," Kitazawa said, taking a sip of milk. "But you've already lost. I'll be able to complete the Medical Ninjutsu for limb regeneration before next week."
"No one can say for sure until the last moment!" Kurenai's expression shifted slightly, and she snorted softly.
"Then let's wait and see." Kitazawa finished breakfast and was about to speak when he heard a knock at the door.
"I'll do the dishes," Kurenai offered. "You go see who it is, and then you can head to the Hokage Building for the Jonin vote."
"Okay." Kitazawa went to the door.
"Kitazawa-sensei." Standing outside the door was Yakushi Kabuto.
"Good morning, Kabuto," Kitazawa nodded slightly.
He had been busy with Anbu matters these past two days and hadn't seen Kabuto and the others.
"Kitazawa-sensei, I'll go to the Hokage Building with you," Kabuto explained his purpose.
He was a Jonin and also had to participate in the Jonin vote.
"Then let's go." Kitazawa closed the door and walked with him towards the Hokage Building.
"Kitazawa-sensei," Kabuto asked as they walked, "When will our squad have new missions?"
"You've only rested for a week and you already want to do missions again?" Kitazawa glanced at him. "You're even more diligent than I am."
"We want to improve our strength as quickly as possible by doing missions. That way, we won't be a burden to Kitazawa-sensei," Kabuto's answer was, as always, flawless.
"I recently became the Anbu Commander," Kitazawa said, a thought stirring in him.
"Anbu Commander?" Kabuto was surprised, then quickly added, "Congratulations, Kitazawa-sensei."
The Anbu Commander was a high-ranking official of Konoha Village and a confidant of the Hokage, signifying a bright future.
"You are a Jonin, and Izumi and Torune, though Chunin, are far stronger than typical Chunin. All of you are qualified to join the Anbu," Kitazawa explained. "After joining the Anbu, you can form a squad and freely accept missions."
"Then we'll follow Kitazawa-sensei's instructions," Kabuto agreed without hesitation.
It was all about doing missions, and it was the same no matter where. Moreover, Anbu missions were more intense. Of course, the rewards would also be greater.
Kitazawa stroked his chin. He had a mission to cultivate four trusted subordinates.
Previously, his idea was to recruit suitable candidates, but a sudden flash of inspiration made him realize it wasn't that complicated.
Kurenai, Kabuto, Uchiha Izumi, and Torune Aburame — exactly four people.
And they were already familiar with him, which was much faster than cultivating from scratch.
But he didn't know how the system determined a "trusted subordinate."
Was it their loyalty to him? Or had they done many things for him? Kitazawa wasn't sure, but he would cultivate them first.
Of course, if there were other candidates, he could cultivate them too. After all, the more trusted subordinates, the better.
There was no need to be limited to the four given by the system.
Kitazawa suddenly thought of Orochimaru.
He did have quite a few trusted subordinates, such as Kimimaro.
He had always thought the Bloodline Limit of Shikotsumyaku (Dead Bone Pulse) was cool in his previous life.
It was a pity that Kimimaro had most likely already been abducted by Orochimaru by now.
"Kitazawa!" Might Guy's voice came from not far away.
Kitazawa looked up and saw him, Kakashi, and Asuma.
"Kitazawa," Might Guy asked as soon as he approached, "Asuma told me that the Anbu is recruiting lately?"
"You want to join the Anbu?" Kitazawa asked with a strange expression.
"How about it? Can I?" Might Guy gave a thumbs-up. "I'm willing to bring my youth to the Anbu!"
Behind him, Asuma was frantically winking at Kitazawa. Clearly, he had already rejected Might Guy.
In fact, in the original work, Might Guy had applied to join the Anbu and Root, but Sarutobi Hiruzen and Danzo both disagreed.
"You can sign up first," Kitazawa said tactfully.
"That's great!" Might Guy exclaimed excitedly upon hearing this.
"Kakashi, are you going back to the Anbu?" Kitazawa changed the subject.
"No, being a teacher is pretty good," Kakashi looked at him, with a sense of emotion in his heart.
Asuma had just told them that Kitazawa had become the Anbu Commander.
He hadn't expected that the once ordinary Kitazawa would achieve such astonishing status and strength in less than two years.
He himself became a Chunin at six and a Jonin at twelve and was hailed as a rare genius in Konoha Village for decades.
But he felt that Kitazawa's progress in these two years was even more terrifying.
"Is being a teacher really that good?" Asuma said thoughtfully. "Speaking of which, my Old Man told me before that he wanted me to become a Jonin Team leader in a few years."
"Is it to lead the new generation of Ino–Shika–Cho?" Kakashi suddenly remembered something and asked.
"You know too?" Asuma raised an eyebrow.
"Who doesn't know the relationship between your Sarutobi Clan and the Ino–Shika–Cho?" Kitazawa retorted.
"Huh? What are you talking about?" Might Guy scratched his head, confused.
"It seems there are still people who don't know," Asuma said with a smile, explaining it to Might Guy.
Simply put, the Sarutobi Clan was the witness to the alliance of the Ino–Shika–Cho.
"We're here, let's go in and talk," Kitazawa pushed the door open and entered the meeting room.
They arrived relatively early, and the meeting room wasn't full; only a third of the Jonin had arrived.
"Lord Kitazawa." Many Jonin greeted him proactively upon seeing him.
Kitazawa's current status and position now warranted the title of "Lord."
"Kitazawa," Uchiha Fugaku, sitting in the front row, turned his head to look at him.
"Clan Head Fugaku," Kitazawa walked forward and greeted him.
"Kitazawa, have the results of your Anbu recruitment come out yet?" Fugaku forced a friendly smile. "Many Uchiha ninja want to contribute to Konoha Village."
Please don't be like that… It's quite scary. Kitazawa suppressed his inner thoughts and said, "It's not over yet, because there are many applicants this time, and it will take some time for the assessment."
"Many?" Fugaku's heart tightened.
"Yes," Kitazawa nodded. "There are some from all the major ninja clans."
He didn't lie to Fugaku with that statement.
Even the Uchiha Clan and the Hyuga Clan were so proactive, so the Ino–Shika–Cho and the Aburame Clan naturally wouldn't want to fall behind.
"Then it certainly needs a thorough assessment," Uchiha Fugaku felt a rare flicker of annoyance.
Why weren't these ninja clans so enthusiastic when Sarutobi Hiruzen was Hokage? Now they were all jumping out to compete with the Uchiha Clan for spots.
But Fugaku was still confident. After all, in terms of strength, the Uchiha Clan was the largest ninja clan.
---
Nine in the morning.
Except for the Jonin on missions, all the Jonin of Konoha Village had arrived.
Kitazawa, Kakashi, Might Guy, and Kabuto sat in the third row.
Actually, with his status as an Anbu Commander and Ninja Academy Vice Principal, he was entitled to sit in the first row.
However, he didn't care; sitting anywhere wouldn't affect him.
The door was pushed open.
Tsunade walked in.
Behind her were the two Hokage Advisors, Homura Mitokado and Utatane Koharu.
Tsunade scanned the meeting room, her gaze lingering on Kitazawa for half a second longer.
The kiss involuntarily flashed in her mind.
"Shikaku, begin the vote," Tsunade shook her head and said.
"Yes, Hokage-sama," Nara Shikaku stood up and began distributing the special ballots.
"Is Lady Tsunade presiding over this Jonin vote?" Kitazawa raised an eyebrow and asked.
Kakashi paused at the question, also sensing something subtle.
Logically, the Jonin vote to elect the next Hokage should be presided over by the previous Hokage, Sarutobi Hiruzen.
For Tsunade, as one of the targets of the Jonin vote, to preside over it gave it a sense of predetermination.
Kitazawa quickly received his ballot and pen. He picked up the pen and wrote Tsunade's name on it.
In fact, one could also write other names, including one's own.
Because according to Konoha Village's rules, anyone could be voted for in the Jonin vote; as long as they received more than half of the votes, they could become Hokage.
After writing the ballots, they walked up one by one in seating order and placed them in the ballot box.
Homura Mitokado and Utatane Koharu were responsible for counting the votes.
"I will now announce the results," Nara Shikaku took the final tally from Homura Mitokado and said, "Lady Tsunade received the most votes."
An unsurprising result. No one showed even a hint of surprise.
"Tomorrow, we will hold the village's civilian vote," Tsunade stood up and said. "Shikaku will be in charge, and the Anbu and various ninja clans will send people to maintain order."
"Yes, Hokage-sama," everyone replied in unison.
"Meeting adjourned." Tsunade waved her hand and left the meeting room without hesitation.
"Lady Tsunade is truly a woman of few words," Asuma said with a smile. "If it were my Old Man, the meeting wouldn't end until noon."
"Aren't you afraid he'll get angry, speaking of the Hokage-sama like that?" Kitazawa asked, patting him on the shoulder.
"Soon, he won't be Hokage anymore, so it's fine," Sarutobi Asuma said nonchalantly.
A loving father and a filial son. Kitazawa chuckled in silence.
"I'm heading back to the academy; you all do as you please," Kakashi said as he stood up.
Although it was Monday and he didn't have any classes, he was accustomed to spending his time at the Ninja Academy.
Moreover, he still had to continue his research on Lightning Release: Kirin. After such a long period of experimentation, success was finally within reach.
"Kakashi, how about a youthful run?" Might Guy said with a sparkling grin. "Let's see who gets to the Ninja Academy first!"
"No interest," Kakashi replied flatly, shaking his head.
"Asuma," Kitazawa began, "this is my student, Kabuto."
"Senior Asuma," Kabuto greeted respectfully.
"I've heard your name," Asuma said with a smile. "A very talented Medical Ninja — and skilled in Wind Release as well."
During the war between Konoha and the Hidden Mist Village, not only Kitazawa but also Kabuto and Torune had gained fame.
Though not at Kitazawa's level, their names were still far more recognized than those of ordinary Jonin.
"Today, please help my three students process their applications to join the Anbu," Kitazawa stated his purpose.
"No problem," Asuma agreed readily.
The minimum requirement for joining the Anbu was the rank of Chunin.
Kabuto, Torune, and Uchiha Izumi easily met that standard. Considering they were Kitazawa's disciples, there was no reason to refuse.
"Kabuto, go call Torune and Izumi. Then head to the Anbu together and find Asuma," Kitazawa instructed.
"Yes, Kitazawa-sensei," Kabuto replied with a nod.
"Then I'll be going. See you next time."
After leaving the meeting room, Kitazawa made his way toward the Hokage's Office.
---
"Come in," Tsunade said as she looked up from her desk upon hearing the knock.
When she saw Kitazawa, a strange feeling flickered in her chest — but it quickly faded.
"Kitazawa, what do you need me for?" Tsunade asked with her usual composed expression.
"Lady Tsunade, do you remember what I told you yesterday at noon?" Kitazawa asked with a faint smile.
"I forgot!" Tsunade paused, glared at him, and snapped, "Just say what you want to say!"
"This is my gift to you," Kitazawa said, taking out a scroll and handing it to her.
"Medical Ninjutsu for limb regeneration?" Tsunade opened the scroll, her brows lifting in surprise. "Did you actually succeed?"
"By chance," Kitazawa said modestly.
"How can an S-rank Medical Ninjutsu be by chance?" Tsunade muttered as she examined the scroll carefully.
"I still have to thank Lady Tsunade for her help and guidance," Kitazawa said with a calm smile.
"I didn't do much; it's mainly your credit," Tsunade said, exhaling softly after finishing her review. "With this Medical Ninjutsu, many Ninja will be able to regain their lives."
Her words were no exaggeration.
Losing a limb for a Ninja was akin to losing half or more of their combat ability. If both hands were gone, they could no longer even qualify as a Ninja.
"Such a technique shouldn't just be locked away like other Ninjutsu," Tsunade mused. "It should be promoted — all Medical Ninja Jonin should have the opportunity to learn it."
"I think so too," Kitazawa agreed.
The greater the reach of the limb regeneration technique, the more generous the system's reward would ultimately be. He couldn't help but wonder what kind of reward awaited him this time.
"You're quite generous," Tsunade remarked, gazing at him with a mix of admiration and curiosity.
To hand over such a precious Medical Ninjutsu so freely was nearly unheard of in Konoha's history.
"Since Lady Tsunade has become Hokage, I naturally have to present a congratulatory gift," Kitazawa said seriously.
"Have you already mastered this technique yourself?" Tsunade asked, averting her gaze slightly.
"Yes," Kitazawa nodded. "There shouldn't be any issues."
"After the Hokage succession ceremony, you'll perform the first surgery at Konoha Hospital," Tsunade decided after a pause. "All Medical Ninja and Jonin will attend to observe."
She wasn't just promoting the limb regeneration Ninjutsu — she was also building momentum for Kitazawa's reputation.
"Thank you, Lady Tsunade," Kitazawa said, his eyes lighting up.
This arrangement was perfect.
"By then, I imagine Ninja from other villages will approach us — perhaps even from the Hidden Mist Village," Tsunade added. "We could treat their wounded… for a reasonable fee."
During the war, the Hidden Mist had suffered countless casualties — many of them missing limbs.
"That's certainly possible," Kitazawa nodded. "I believe they'd be willing to pay the proper price."
"Who do you plan to perform the first surgery on?" Tsunade asked, setting the scroll aside.
"Kosuke-senpai," Kitazawa answered.
"A good choice," Tsunade said after a thoughtful pause. "He's well-known and meets the requirements — it'll have the greatest public impact."
"As expected of Lady Tsunade — you think of everything," Kitazawa said with genuine admiration.
"Alright, stop flattering me," Tsunade sighed, rolling her eyes. "You've contributed such an important technique. What reward do you want in return?"
"I don't know," Kitazawa replied with a faint smile. "Just owe it to me for now. If I need something later, I'll come find you."
"That works too," Tsunade said with understanding.
She knew Kitazawa didn't really lack anything.
It was similar to the situation with the Three Legendary Sannin — their merits far outweighed what Konoha could ever repay. But such debts could be reserved for the future, to benefit one's students or kin.
"Then I'll take my leave," Kitazawa said, bowing slightly before turning to go.
"Kitazawa," Tsunade called after him.
He stopped and turned back slightly.
"I really like this gift," Tsunade said softly, brushing a strand of golden hair behind her ear. "Thank you."
"It seems Lady Tsunade remembers it quite clearly," Kitazawa said with a teasing smile as he waved. "See you next time."
"..." Tsunade's expression turned slightly unnatural, though the corners of her lips hinted at a faint smile.
Kitazawa left the Hokage Office and, instead of returning to the Anbu headquarters, went home.
Since Asuma was in charge there, Kitazawa didn't need to manage things for now.
Now that the limb regeneration Medical Ninjutsu was complete, it was time for him to begin his journey of mastering Wood Release.
He arrived at the open training ground behind his house. The first technique he decided to learn was Wood Release: Wood Locking Wall — a defensive jutsu that summoned a row of wooden stakes curving to form an arch-like barrier to shield the user.
The day's training ended quietly.
---
Tuesday.
Kitazawa welcomed a long-awaited class day. After breakfast, he arrived at the Ninja Academy.
"Kitazawa-sensei, welcome back!"
All the students of the Genius Class had arrived at the training ground half an hour early. Upon seeing him, they shouted in unison.
Kitazawa was slightly startled, a warm feeling rising in his chest. These students really were excellent.
"Kitazawa-sensei!" Naruto rushed forward, his curiosity plain. "Is Old Man Hokage really retiring? I saw villagers voting on the way here!"
Hinata, Kiba, Shino Aburame, and several others gathered around as well. Since it wasn't official class time yet, their excitement over the new Hokage was palpable.
"Yes," Kitazawa nodded. "The Hokage-sama is getting old, so he decided to retire."
"Who's the new Hokage?" Kiba asked eagerly.
"It must be Lady Tsunade!" Ino said with admiration. "The first female Hokage!"
"And the first Medical Ninja to become Hokage!" Sakura added excitedly.
"It is indeed Lady Tsunade," Kitazawa confirmed with a smile.
"It seems I can only aim for the Sixth Hokage, then!" Naruto declared, full of fighting spirit.
"Are you planning to compete with Kitazawa-sensei for the Sixth Hokage?" Shikamaru's lazy voice chimed in.
"Huh?" Naruto froze, eyes wide.
Sasuke, who had been about to speak, immediately closed his mouth.
"Considering the age difference, it really would be Kitazawa-sensei who becomes the Sixth Hokage!" Ino's eyes sparkled. "Then I'll be the Hokage's student!"
"What are you thinking?" Kitazawa flicked her forehead lightly. "No one can say what the future holds."
With so many people jinxing him, who could stand it?
"Seventh Hokage is fine too!" Naruto quickly corrected himself. His dream was to become Hokage — it didn't matter which number.
"Alright, enough nonsense. Back to training," Kitazawa said firmly before pausing. "Kiba, come with me."
"Yes!" Kiba replied enthusiastically.
He was excited — Kitazawa had promised to teach him a new Secret Technique this week.
"Your Fang Over Fang and War Stomp are both offensive techniques, but their power is limited," Kitazawa said, assessing him. "I'll teach you a Secret Technique that complements Hell Hound — it's called Fang Bullet."
The Fang Bullet was inspired by Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique. Simply put, the three heads of Kiba's Hell Hound would simultaneously fire three chakra-formed cannonballs.
Kiba's chakra nature was Earth, and while Kitazawa initially considered having him fire Earth bullets, that required nature transformation training. So for now, he decided to let Kiba start with the neutral version.
"This is great!" Kiba's eyes gleamed with excitement.
Three dog heads shooting chakra cannonballs — just thinking about it was thrilling.
"Then train hard," Kitazawa said with a smile. "Once you add chakra nature to it, the Fang Bullet's power will increase even more."
"Yes, Kitazawa-sensei!" Kiba answered seriously.
After half an hour of instruction, Kitazawa allowed him to practice on his own.
Looking around, he saw that the students from the three study groups he led were already busy with their training.
Once he confirmed that everything was in order, Kitazawa made his way to the Artificial Lake.
There were three people there — Maruboshi Kosuke, Sakura, and Shino Aburame.
"Kitazawa-sensei!" Sakura, who was practicing Water Release, greeted him with a bright smile.
"Kosuke-senpai," Kitazawa said, "are you free next Monday?"
"No," Kosuke replied, puzzled. "Why? Do you need my help?"
"I do." Kitazawa smiled slightly. "Would you like to have a healthy left leg again?"
Kosuke froze. "What do you mean?"
"I've created a Medical Ninjutsu for limb regeneration," Kitazawa explained.
"What?" Kosuke was stunned.
"How is that even possible?" Sakura's eyes widened in shock.
Having studied under Kitazawa, she was now half a Medical Ninja herself — and she understood perfectly just how revolutionary a limb regeneration technique would be.
"Well? Want to try it?" Kitazawa asked with a calm smile. "If you're willing, come to Konoha Hospital next Monday to find me."
"Of course I'm willing!" Kosuke said, regaining his composure but still visibly trembling with excitement.
No one who had lost a limb wouldn't wish for recovery — and he was no exception.
"Congratulations, Kosuke-sensei!" Sakura said warmly.
"I never thought I'd ever be whole again," Kosuke murmured, voice heavy with emotion. "Thank you, Kitazawa."
"It's nothing," Kitazawa replied with a gentle smile. "This is what a Medical Ninja should do."
After finishing his conversation with Kosuke, Kitazawa went to a quiet, uninhabited area to continue his Wood Release training.
Life soon returned to normal for him. The only difference now was that, besides teaching at the Academy, he occasionally had to report to the Anbu as well.

Time came to Saturday.
Konoha Village welcomed its liveliest day, for today was the Hokage Inauguration Ceremony.
As for the village vote, the results had already been announced yesterday. Without any suspense, Tsunade won with an absolute majority.
With all three procedures completed, she officially became the Fifth Hokage.
Early in the morning, the Konoha Military Police Force and the Anbu were already busy. The Hokage Inauguration Ceremony was of great importance—it absolutely could not go wrong.
The Military Police Force was responsible for maintaining public order, while the Anbu oversaw security concerning ninja from other villages.
After all, today was a grand occasion. In addition to Konoha's shinobi and villagers, the Fire Daimyo, nobles, and merchants from the Land of Fire were all in attendance.
The crowd was mixed, and it was difficult to tell if foreign ninja had slipped in unnoticed.
Anbu Office
"Kitazawa-sensei," Kabuto entered and reported, "Jiraiya-sama has returned to the village. He's currently in the Hokage Office."
"I understand. You can go back to your work," Kitazawa replied with a nod.
After Kabuto left, Kitazawa made his way to the Hokage Office.
"Tsunade, I'm very curious," Jiraiya said as soon as Kitazawa entered, "what method did the Old Man use to make you agree to become Hokage?"
He knew Tsunade well. She had always resisted the title, especially after developing hemophobia—it had only deepened her resentment toward the position.
Tsunade fell silent. Her decision to become Hokage had little to do with Hiruzen. If anything, Kitazawa bore most of the responsibility.
She suddenly paused as the door creaked slightly. Through the small gap, she saw Kitazawa approaching.
"Come in," Tsunade called.
"Who?" Jiraiya turned his head instinctively.
"Lady Tsunade," Kitazawa greeted respectfully. "Jiraiya-sama."
"So, you're her student—Kitazawa," Jiraiya said with a sigh. "I've heard your name even in the Land of Earth. You already have Minato's demeanor."
"He's not like Minato," Tsunade interjected subconsciously.
"I'm talking about reputation," Jiraiya clarified with a grin. "In terms of taking on students, you're almost catching up to me."
"What are you doing in the Land of Earth?" Tsunade asked, changing the subject.
"Gathering information," Jiraiya said with a cough. "You still haven't answered my previous question."
"There's no answer," Tsunade replied flatly. "If I want to be, I'll be. If I don't, I won't."
Jiraiya chuckled. "That's truly your personality. But you're very suitable to be Hokage. Since you've taken the position, do it well."
He shared the same concern as Hiruzen—both feared Tsunade might run away.
"It should have been you who became Hokage," Tsunade said quietly. "Now that Konoha has entered a new era, if you stayed—"
"Sorry," Jiraiya interrupted. "Konoha already has you. I still have my own mission."
He was referring to his search for the Child of Prophecy.
Disappointment flickered in Tsunade's eyes, but she said nothing more. She had already expected such a response.
But it didn't matter. Konoha didn't truly lack a Jiraiya anymore. Kitazawa's presence filled the void in the village's high-level combat power.
"Old Man!" Jiraiya suddenly sensed something and turned around.
"Do you still remember how to come back?" Hiruzen asked with mild irritation. "Last time you left Konoha without saying a word. I haven't settled that with you yet."
"Tsunade became Hokage. Of course, I had to come back," Jiraiya said casually. "On such a good day, it wouldn't be good for your health to get angry."
"Forget it, I'm too lazy to argue with you," Hiruzen muttered. "Anyway, Tsunade is Hokage now—she'll have the headache."
"What's there to have a headache about?" Tsunade said indifferently. "Just pretend he doesn't exist."
Jiraiya froze, unsure whether to laugh or panic. With Tsunade's temperament, he could only hope she was joking.
"The Fire Daimyo has arrived. Let's go," Hiruzen reminded.
"Mm." Tsunade nodded, donning the white Hokage robe custom-made for her. On its back were the words "Fifth Hokage."
She didn't wear the Hokage hat, instead handing it to Hiruzen. Together with Jiraiya and Kitazawa, they walked toward the rooftop.
The plaza below was already packed with people. Even before Tsunade stepped forward, the sound of cheering filled the air.
Her gaze lifted toward the Hokage Rock. Two Hokage from the Senju clan were already carved there—and now it was her turn.
As Tsunade stepped to the edge, the plaza erupted in thunderous applause and cheers. Her appointment was truly the will of the people. There were almost none in Konoha who opposed her.
Danzo Shimura—the only one who had—was long gone to the Pure Land.
"I now announce that the Fifth Hokage of Konoha Village is Tsunade!" The Fire Daimyo's voice echoed through the plaza.
"Konoha is entrusted to you, Tsunade," Hiruzen said as he handed her the Hokage hat.
"I will do my best, Sensei."
For the first time, Tsunade addressed him formally rather than calling him "Old Man." She placed the Hokage hat upon her head and turned to face the crowd.
"Say something," Hiruzen said with a smile. From this moment, he was officially retired—free of duty.
"I, Tsunade, the Fifth Hokage!" Tsunade raised her hand and clenched her fist high.
The crowd's cheers surged like a tidal wave.
Konoha Village had ushered in a new beginning.
