The phone kept buzzing on the nightstand, Harper's name lighting up the screen like some cruel joke from the universe. Alex buried his face in the pillow, muffling a moan as Liam's hips rolled against him.
"D-don't—" Alex whispered harshly, clutching at the sheets.
But Liam only grinned, his lips grazing Alex's ear as he reached one long arm toward the nightstand. With a single swipe, the call connected.
"Harper," Liam drawled, his voice maddeningly calm despite the sweat slicking his skin. He leaned back, still moving inside Alex, slow and deliberate. "Hey. Alex? …He's in the bathroom."
Alex's entire body went rigid. His eyes flew wide as he slapped a trembling hand over his own mouth to stifle the sound threatening to escape. His other hand curled into a fist and punched Liam's shoulder, desperate, panicked.
