Chapter 28 - Fractured Loyalties

Fractured Loyalties

The Deadly Six hideout buzzed with unease. Cainen stood in the center of the war room, holographic maps glowing cold blue around him, plotting the next moves. His eyes, sharp and unyielding, scanned the flickering data. The Forsaken weren't just testing his borders—they were tearing at his foundation from the inside.

Rekka leaned over the table, his gauntleted fingers tapping against the metal. "They're growing bolder. But worse—someone's tipping the scales for them from inside our ranks."

Kaito, ever the chill one, shrugged while crunching on his shrimp chips. "Betrayal's a part of this game. We just gotta be better at it."

Lilith lounged nearby, that twisted grin playing on her lips. "Fragile minds break first," she said softly, eyes gleaming. "That's when the fun really begins."

The tension was thick enough to cut with a blade, and Cainen knew the war was no longer just about fighting enemies outside. The real battle was hunting the snake inside his own den.

War on the Streets

Outside, the Low Cut District was a war zone. Gunfire shattered the night's silence, shadows darted like ghosts between crumbling buildings. Cainen led a squad through narrow alleys, fists glowing crimson, tearing through Forsaken squads with brutal precision.

"Hold tight! Watch every corner!" he shouted, his voice cutting through the chaos.

Rekka covered their rear, his shockwave gauntlets flattening enemies with bone-shattering blasts. Kaito moved like liquid, slicing through the darkness with his chained knife. And Lilith? She was chaos incarnate, spinning and swinging her barbed-wire bat with deadly grace, laughter ringing cold in the night air.

The Enemy's Play

Inside the Forsaken's safehouse, their shadowy leader barked orders to his lieutenants. "The Deadly Six are fracturing. Exploit every crack. Hit hard and fast."

They weren't just fighting for territory anymore—they were trying to break the Deadly Six from within.

Confrontation

Back in the hideout, Cainen faced the harshest truth. A trusted lieutenant was exposed as a traitor.

Eyes blazing with fury, Cainen confronted the man in a private room, voice low and threatening. "Who sent you? Speak now."

The traitor, broken and desperate, could barely meet his gaze. "I didn't mean for this… I had no choice."

Cainen's fists clenched. There was no mercy here—only survival.

The Weight of Power

Later, on a rooftop overlooking the war-torn district, Cainen and Lilith stood side by side, silent but charged with unspoken promises.

Lilith's voice was soft, almost dangerous. "Loyalties fracture. But the throne still waits."

Cainen's eyes burned with resolve. "Then we hold it. No matter what."

The war was far from over, but in the cracks of betrayal and battle, the Deadly Six found their true strength.
