First, slice the herbivore dragon meat thinly and blanch it to remove the gaminess.
Season with salt and pepper.
Then, cut tofu into cubes, slice fresh shiitake mushrooms, and rinse the fresh wakame and tied kelp thoroughly.
Next, pour a broth made from simmered chicken and beef bones into the pot, add the blanched dragon meat slices, and bring it to a boil over high heat.
Add in the tofu cubes, shiitake slices, wakame or kelp knots, and continue cooking until all the ingredients are fully done.
After turning off the heat, take a small amount of the soup to dissolve some miso paste, then stir it back into the pot until evenly mixed.
Sprinkle chopped green onions on top, and it's ready to serve.
This is the herbivore dragon miso soup prepared by Megumi Tadokoro!
Aside from this simmered miso soup, she also made a herbivore dragon meat claypot rice dish during the cooking process.
In a hot pan with cold oil, sauté chopped green onions, ginger, and garlic until fragrant, then add diced dragon meat and cook until it changes color.
Add diced potatoes, carrots, peas, and other vegetables and stir-fry evenly. Then pour in soy sauce.
Add pre-soaked and drained rice, mix thoroughly with the other ingredients.
Add enough water, cover the lid, and simmer on low heat for about 20 minutes until the rice is fully cooked.
Finally, gently stir the rice to ensure even distribution of ingredients. The herbivore dragon claypot rice is ready to serve!
Looking at the rice and soup side by side—it's clearly a set meal like you'd get at a proper restaurant!
"Not bad at all."
Bai Mo first tasted the herbivore dragon claypot rice.
Claypot rice is a cooking method where rice and ingredients are cooked together slowly, allowing the flavors to fully infuse.
In this "Herbivore Dragon Meat Claypot Rice," the savory juices of the dragon meat soaked into the rice, making it soft and fragrant. The starch of the rice enveloped the meat's aroma, creating a unique texture and taste.
The vegetables and spices mixed within further enhanced the natural flavor of the dragon meat and made the dish more harmonious and layered.
It was, in short, a commendable dish.
Then Bai Mo took a sip of the dragon miso soup.
The soup emitted a rich aroma of miso, the signature scent released by quality miso paste when blended with hot broth.
Miso carries a slightly sweet and salty flavor—it enhances the broth's umami and balances the various ingredients.
In the soup, the herbivore dragon meat had been simmered to absolute tenderness, nearly melting in the mouth, while retaining a subtle grassy sweetness.
This herbal note intertwined with the miso's richness to create a fresh yet full-bodied taste.
Furthermore, the tofu, kelp, and mushrooms added not only color and texture, but also improved the soup's nutritional value and flavor complexity.
The soft tofu complemented the delicate dragon meat; the kelp's umami fused beautifully with the miso; and the earthy mushroom taste added a woodland freshness to the broth.
Altogether, this soup had the richness and depth of miso, the tenderness and aroma of dragon meat, and the freshness and vibrancy of its supporting ingredients.
All these flavors danced on the palate, leaving a lasting impression.
Watching Bai Mo finish both dishes, Megumi nervously and expectantly asked,
"Bai... Bai Mo-kun, what do you think?"
"Not bad. The miso soup gets a 60. The claypot rice, about a 63."
Barely passing?
Though relieved, Megumi couldn't help but feel a bit defeated—especially considering that Bai Mo had given Yoshino Yuki's spiced fruitwood roast chicken a score of 78.
But for her first attempt using herbivore dragon meat, these scores were already commendable in Bai Mo's eyes.
"Don't be too hard on yourself. This is your first time using this ingredient—it's only natural to run into issues."
"In the miso soup, maybe try swapping the mushrooms for matsutake. Also, you might want to use firm tofu instead of soft. Adding some shrimp or dried scallops could also enrich the flavor."
"As for the rice, try mixing in some glutinous rice to improve stickiness. And maybe try cooking it in a claypot. You should also look into Donghuang-style claypot rice—it might give you some inspiration."
Megumi nodded earnestly, committing all his advice to memory.
"Overall, it's not bad. Which is why… you'll be the featured chef for this performance!"
"Huh? Featured chef?"
"That's right. Think carefully about what dish you'll present in front of the entire school."
"The... entire school? Me? I... I'm just a small-town girl...!"
Imagining the scene, Megumi's mind overloaded and she fainted right in front of Bai Mo.
Watching her pass out, Bai Mo shook his head with a sigh.
Looks like she still needs more training.
He picked her up and carried her to the sixth-floor rest area.
After laying her on the bed, he stayed beside her and waited quietly.
Eventually, Megumi woke up and, noticing she wasn't in her dorm room, immediately checked her clothes and the blanket covering her.
"Relax. Nothing's missing. I'm not the kind of guy who takes advantage of others."
"Bai... Bai Mo-kun~" Megumi lowered her head shyly. "I-I didn't mean it that way..."
"Now that you're awake, let me brief you. Three days from now—next Monday—you'll present your dish to the whole school. Make sure you're ready."
"T-Three days?! Isn't that too soon? I'm worried I won't be good enough..."
"Then just work harder," Bai Mo replied nonchalantly. "Anyway, I believe in your ability."
"The ingredients you'll use for training will be stored in this building. You can practice here."
"R-Really? Isn't this your personal kitchen tower?"
"It's fine. After all, you are the chef I've chosen."
"And what's mine is yours, right?"
"I-Is that so?" Megumi's eyes shimmered with unshed tears. "I'll give it my all!"
After giving his instructions, Bai Mo didn't leave right away. He approached the bed and looked at her seriously.
"I look forward to your transformation."
"If your dish impresses me this time, I'll give you another opportunity—one that might help you become someone like Erina Nakiri."
"Eh?! What does that mean?"
"If you want to know... then work for it."
Magnetic Field Martial Arts: At 750,000 horsepower, one enters the Atomic Fission Realm, capable of triggering atomic-level restructuring and even creating black holes when two forces collide.
At 900,000 horsepower, one can control particles to the point of altering DNA.
But Bai Mo doesn't need to reach that level. As long as he enters the 250,000-horsepower Star-Shattering Realm, he can start modifying other people's abilities using his magnetic field.
Once he reaches the Magnetic God Realm, he'll automatically gain Super Five Senses and may even grant others divine gifts like the God Tongue—completely side-effect free.
However, the path of magnetic martial arts is vast and profound.
Even Bai Mo has only just set foot on this journey...
